The Story of Chinese Character : 朢

朢 is composed of 臣 (official) and 日 (moon) and 𡈼 (good). 臣 depicts a protruding eye, 𡈼 depicts a man standing on a mound, so 朢 is the picture of a man standing on a mound, and looking to the moon with his protruding eyes.
朢 has the same meaning and pronunciation as 望, now we no longer use 朢, but use 望 instead.
