Yesterday, ballot boxes in Portland, Oregon, and in Washington were set on fire. So, what are the latest updates, and what should voters do? While #JoeRogan reflects on his podcast interview with #Trump, he announces why there is no interview with #Harris yet. He also confirms that he will interview #JDVance tomorrow.
Hello all you freedom loving people.
Welcome to another episode of Front Page.
I'm your host, Scott Cameron Goulet.
One by one, there have been ballot box fires in several states.
The police believe that these are deliberate rather than accidental.
And the FBI has stepped in to investigate as the race intensifies.
The detailed rules for counting ballots have become one of the topics
of dispute between the two parties.
Another difference in this election is that several media outlets have decided
to change their practice of the past few decades by not endorsing presidential
candidates. Maintaining political neutrality was originally a basic
principle of the media, but now it's become a talking point.
And Jeff Bezos, the owner of the Washington Post, had to personally
explain why he's returning to this tradition.
Both candidates have used podcast appearances as part of their strategy
to use non-traditional media forms to reach more voters.
But why didn't VP Harris get interviewed by the most popular podcaster,
Joe Rogan? And what does Joe Rogan think about President Trump?
Okay, let's get into it.
On Monday morning, a ballot drop box in Portland, Oregon and one in
Vancouver, Washington were set on fire.
Hundreds of ballots were burned.
Both incidents are under investigation.
The Portland Police Department reported that officers and firefighters
found a ballot drop box on fire around 3.30 a.m.
The fire was extinguished quickly thanks to the suppression system inside
the box. Multnomah County Election Director Tim Scott said that the fire
suppression system set up on the drop boxes protected almost all of the
ballots. Only three ballots were damaged.
Elections contacted and directly communicated with each affected voter and
has already issued replacement ballots.
Hours later, just across the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington,
television cameraman filmed smoke rising from a ballot box at the transit
center. Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey told the Associated Press that the
ballot drop box at Fishers Landing Transit Center is equipped with a fire
suppression system, but somehow it wasn't working.
So hundreds of ballots were burned.
Kimsey said anyone who dropped off a ballot at the damaged Fishers Landing
Transit Center box between 11 a.m.
on Saturday and 4 a.m.
on Monday should request a replacement ballot online.
Vancouver is the largest city in Washington state's third congressional
district. The race for the district is expected to be one of the tightest in the
U.S. House of Representatives race.
It pits freshman Democratic Representative Marie Guzman Camp Perez
against Republican challenger Joe Kent.
Kimsey said that the office will increase the frequency of ballot
collection and change the collection time to nighttime to prevent ballot boxes
from remaining full at night.
That's because the likelihood of similar crimes is higher at night because
there's surveillance near the ballot box.
The FBI has pinpointed a suspicious vehicle in Oregon.
Portland Police Assistant Chief Amanda McMillan said in a press conference on
Monday that the exact motive for the arsons is unclear,
but that the incidents were not random.
They were planned and intended.
This comes on the heels of an attack last week on a mailbox containing ballots in
Phoenix, Arizona.
Local officials arrested a suspect who set fire to the mailbox,
destroying about 20 ballots.
Elon Musk warns if Trump is not elected, this will be the last election.
Conservatively speaking, if one in 20 illegals become citizens,
America becomes a one party state.
Costco has seen double digit growth in gold sales as gold hits all time
highs. Goldman Sachs raised their target to $2,900 an ounce by
early 2025.
And silver has outperformed gold in 2024 up 32%,
which is an 11 year high.
JP Morgan forecast silver to hit $36 an ounce in early
2025. The most contested election in history is next month.

On Monday, Philadelphia district attorney, Larry Krasner,
a Democrat filed a lawsuit accusing Elon Musk and his America
PAC of operating an illegal lottery in Philadelphia and throughout
Pennsylvania to influence voter turnout for the 2024 presidential
election.
Krasner's lawsuit comes on the heels of the justice department's letter
last Wednesday on October 23rd,
warning Musk's America PAC that its daily sweepstakes may
violate federal election law.
And many media outlets reported that America PAC would stop announcing
new million dollar winners,
but Musk has ignored that warning and he continues his pledge to
dole out awards to registered voters in seven battleground States every
day. So on October 24th,
the following day after the DOJ's warning America PAC announced the
day's new grand prize winner as Jason Cochran of Holland, Michigan,
a photo of Cochran holding the oversized check was posted on X.
Musk has now delivered nine checks to voters in Pennsylvania,
North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Arizona.
Nearly half of the checks went to Pennsylvania voters.
Krasner argues in the lawsuit that under Pennsylvania's lottery and consumer
protection act, all lotteries must be operated and regulated by the state.
In addition,
he alleges that America PAC's random drawings appear to be bogus,
but Musk defended his giveaways during an online town hall event on
Friday on X. Musk said, to be clear,
this is not a petition to vote for or register for anyone.
It's really a petition in support of the constitution of the United States and
in particular, freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.
On Monday, the Republican national committee,
the RNC asked the federal Supreme court for an emergency order
preventing Pennsylvania from counting some of its provisional ballots.
The state's high court ruled four to three that election officials must count
provisional ballots cast by voters whose mail-in ballots were
voided because they arrived without mandatory secrecy envelopes.
The RNC pointed out that the state's legislature did not provide for voters to
revote if they made a mistake on a mail-in ballot and the Pennsylvania
Supreme court infringed on the state's legislature's authority by
allowing voters to cast provisional ballots after their mail-in ballots were
stricken.
Republicans are asking the federal Supreme court to issue a ruling by Friday,
suspending the state court ruling, or at the very least,
they asked that these provisional ballots be segregated and not included in the
official tally while legal proceedings are underway.
Supreme court conservative justice Samuel Alito,
who handles emergency cases for Pennsylvania and other mid Atlantic states
asked for a response to the case by Wednesday afternoon.
On the same day,
Virginia asked the federal Supreme court to intervene and allow the state to
remove approximately 1600 voters from the voter rolls who were not citizens.
Last Friday,
a federal judge blocked the state from removing these voters from the voter
rolls for failing to prove citizenship.
USA Today has announced that it is choosing to not endorse any candidate in the
2024 presidential race.
USA Today Network is a portfolio of media brands owned by Gannett Newspaper
Group.
It is the largest local and national publication and digital media organization
in the United States.
According to a listing on the USA Today Network's website,
local media outlets include the Arizona Republic,
the Des Moines Register in Iowa,
the Detroit Free Press in Michigan and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in
Wisconsin, which is part of the network.
USA Today spokesperson Lark Marie Anton said that we believe America's future is
decided locally. While USA Today will not endorse for president,
local editors at publications across the USA Today Network have the discretion to
endorse at a state or local level.
With more than 200 publications across the nation,
our public service is to provide readers with the facts that matter and the
trusted information they need to make informed decisions.
USA Today previously offered its first ever endorsement to President Biden in
2020 and they sided with Hillary Clinton in 2016,
but they will not be endorsing Kamala Harris.
Not taking sides in the presidential election now seems to be the new trend in
the news media industry or rather many media outlets have decided to return to
their traditional neutral stance.
The most notable of this new wave is Jeff Bezos,
the founder of Amazon and the owner of the Washington Post.
Last week after the paper's editorial board drafted and prepared an editorial in
support of Harris,
Bezos personally gave instructions not to endorse any of the presidential
candidates. The decision undoubtedly caused a huge backlash within the paper.
Several members of the editorial board resigned.
There was also a lot of talk about it among outsiders.
Bezos published an op-ed on Monday night about the decision to restore Americans
lost trust in the media. He wrote,
in the annual public survey about trust and reputation,
journalists and the media have regularly fallen near the very bottom,
often just above Congress.
But in this year's Gallup poll we have managed to fall below Congress.
Our profession is now the least trusted of all.
Something we're doing is clearly not working.
He pointed out that the trust of readers is the most crucial thing for the
survival of the media. He wrote,
we must be accurate and we must be believed to be accurate.
It's a bitter pill to swallow, but we are failing on the second requirement.
Most people believe the media is biased.
Anyone who doesn't see this as paying scant attention to reality and those who
fight reality lose. Reality is an undefeated champion.
Complaining is not a strategy.
We must work harder to control what we can control to increase our credibility.
Bezos emphasized that the lack of credibility is not a problem that is unique to
the post. He wrote, lack of credibility isn't unique to the post.
Our brother newspapers have the same issue and it's a problem not only for
media, but also for the nation.
Many people are turning to off the cuff podcasts,
inaccurate social media posts and other unverified news sources,
which can quickly spread misinformation and deepen divisions.
The Washington Post and the New York Times win prizes,
but increasingly we talk only to a certain elite.
More and more we talk to ourselves. It wasn't always this way.
In the 1990s,
we achieved 80% household penetration in the DC metro area.
He also said that endorsing a presidential candidate won't affect the outcome of
the election, but it will cause the media to lose its neutral stance.
Bezos also wrote what presidential endorsements actually do is create a
perception of bias, a perception of non-independence.
Ending them is a principled decision and it's the right one. Eugene Meyer,
the publisher of the Washington Post from 1933 to 1946 thought the same and he
was right. Of course, it's not enough to just make the little change.
Bezos also wrote by itself,
declining to endorse presidential candidates is not enough to move us very far
up the trust scale, but it is a meaningful step in the right direction.
I wish we had made the change earlier than we did in a moment further from the
election and the emotions around it.
Bezos also mentioned that on the same day that the Post announced last week
that it would not endorse a candidate,
David Limp the CEO of his aerospace venture Blue Origin met with president
Trump, but Bezos had no prior knowledge of the meeting. He said,
there's no connection between it and our decision on the president's endorsement.
Bezos's decision also drew protest from some readers.
The outlet lost more than 200,000 online subscribers in four days,
but Bezos says he has no regrets. He wrote at the end,
criticism will be part and parcel of anything new. Of course,
this is the way of the world. None of this will be easy,
but it will be worth it. I am so grateful to be a part of this endeavor.
Last week's podcast interview between president Trump and Joe Rogan was a huge
success. Just after 10 PM Eastern standard time on Friday,
the episodes rating skyrocketed hitting 300,000 views in the first 30 minutes
and an amassed a staggering 17 million YouTube views in less than 24 hours.
Rogan shared some of his impressions from this interview with Fox news.
Despite the fact that Rogan has publicly stated that he's not a Trump supporter,
the two got along well,
frequently praising each other during Friday's interview.
He said that president Trump is authentic and funny.
He credits authenticity as the reason why president Trump has been able to
attract tremendous attention.
He also made his views clear in his conversation with president Trump.
I always got more publicity than other people and I didn't,
it wasn't like I was trying. In fact, I don't know exactly why.
Maybe you can tell me.
Oh, I can definitely tell you. You said a lot of wild.
Maybe it's a lot of wild and CNN in their,
all their brilliance by highlighting your wild made you much more popular and
they boost you in the polls because people were tired of someone talking in
this bull pre-prepared politician lingo.
And even if they didn't agree with you, they at least knew whoever that guy is,
that's him. That's really him. When you see certain people talk,
certain people in the public eye, you don't know who they are.
You have no idea who they are. It's very difficult to know.
And you see them in conversations. They have these preplanned answers.
They say everything. It's very rehearsed. You never get to the meat of it.
One of the beautiful things about you is that you free ball,
like you get out and you do these huge events and you're just talking and you're
making, we've highlighted you on the show many times where you,
when you did this Biden impression where he's walking around,
he doesn't know what he's doing. It's funny. It's standup. It's funny stuff.
But it's like you and you're making fun of Elon one time doing an Elon
impression. It's great. You have like comedic instincts.
Like when you said to Hillary, you'd be in jail. Like that's great timing.
But it's like that kind of stuff was unheard of as a politician.
Like no one had done that. And I think it's funny.
You need at least the attitude of a comedian when you're doing this
business.
Joe Rogan also marveled that president Trump can hold a focused interview for
over three hours.
He was impressed with how president Trump kept going without needing to use the
bathroom or get water. Rogan said, he's got this ability to just keep going.
This is what's crazy. Like the podcast was three hours long.
He also knows that president Trump likes to start on one talking point and end
up somewhere completely different.
Rogan said he's real good at you ask him a question and he starts to answer it,
but then he takes you on a totally different route,
but you got to bring them back, but you got to be respectful.
What also impressed Rogan was that president Trump is a natural comedian and
that's what president Trump has so many people misunderstanding.
Rogan said the problem with the Trump stuff is just that the people look at the
inflammatory things. He says the crazy stuff and they define him by that.
You also have to remember,
this is a very bizarre combination of an entertainer and a businessman.
He's like a comedian, man. He says funny stuff.
My point is people don't know what to do with that and they want to pretend that
all these other people are somehow morally better because you don't see the
real them.
He also explained why he didn't end up interviewing vice president Kamala
Harris.
Originally both presidential candidates were scheduled to be interviewed by him.
Rogan said that the Harris campaign offered for him to interview the vice
president on Tuesday,
but would require him to travel to her and only wanted to do an hour.
So Rogan revealed on Monday night on X that he told them,
I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin.
My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a
human being. I really hope we can make it happen.
But what will happen tomorrow is JD Vance will sit down with Joe Rogan for an
interview just six days before election day.
