Why China Is Scared of India
China and India have some similarities that have led to a natural peer rivalry: they are the world's first- and second-most populated countries, both have large territories, they share a border, and both are developing countries. One of their fundamental differences is in their systems of governance—India is a democracy while China is an authoritarian communist state. In this episode of China Unscripted, we discuss why China is scared of India, the likelihood of kinetic war between the two countries and what might happen if India and the US were to become closer allies. Joining us in this episode is Professor M.D. Nalapat, the director of the department of geopolitics and international relations at India’s Manipal University.
