If you thought Fiji was just about pretty beaches, think again! On our family's recent trip to Fiji, we discovered that there is so much more to this country than its famous beaches. We uncovered so much adventure, history and culture there, and we can't wait to return! Thanks to Tourism Fiji, Intercontinental Fiji and Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort Fiji for hosting us!

Time to take off these and wear some tropical clothes.
Oh, this is beautiful. Gorgeous. Very gorgeous. Oh, nice.
Oh, it says Bula. So cute.
Oh, pretty. Do I look tropical? We all need one of these.
Yeah, answer the question. Yes, you're so tropical.
Thanks. Or I just have one on my ears. Oh, sorry, I have sensitive ears. Let me just...
Don't tell them about my sensitive ears.
No, we're blending in more. Okay, so we are actually headed off to the spa right now.
Serge and I are going to get a massage and then the girls are going to get a little manicure.
Okay, thank you. Massage.
Having dinner at Sana Sana, which is one of the main restaurants in the main building here.
They have a good mix of cuisines. They have local inspired stuff,
which is sort of native Fijian and then also a mix of Indian food, which looks delicious.
Jet lag is definitely kicking in. We're pretty tired.
This is the girls right now. They're a little tired.
I just got done taking a big nap and yeah, the girls are fading.
And also it's like a long journey period. Yeah.
Trying your first Fiji Gold. I hope it's good.
Local beer here. Very cold.
That's a good thing. All right, this is Korean fried chicken and this is Kokoda,
which is the national dish of Fiji. It is, and I'm reading from the menu here,
marinated raw fish, chili, lime, coriander with coconut dressing.
So I guess it's kind of like a coconutty ceviche, so to speak, and I'm excited to try it.
Looks really good. It's really good.
The fish is very substantial. I'm not sure what kind of fish it is.
Oh, I think it was Mahi Mahi, right? And the sauce is like pretty savory.
Um, really nice, but still light. So really nice mix of flavors and textures.
Yeah. Good morning.
So we all pretty much slept through most of the night.
So hopefully, fingers crossed, we're going to be
mostly adjusted to the time difference as of today.
So today we are going to do something very cool, which is take a river safari.
So I guess we're going to be going up this river.
We're going to be visiting a local village,
learning a little bit more about the Fijian culture, the customs.
Okay, so this resort has a lot of Australian guests since we're so close to Australia.
And Sean is going to try Marmite for the first time.
Everyone on TikTok says to do a little bit.
So Australians, I'm sorry if I put too much.
I tried to do a little bit. I'm scared. It smells really weird.
And it looks like tar.
What does it taste like?
Oh no, Sean is speechless.
Oh no, no, no vivid description.
At first it was good because it just tasted salty and then it started tasting bitter.
And like now my mouth tastes weird.
No, thank you.
So not a fan.
Looks great.
Hey, welcome back to our channel.
Styling braids.
Today we're doing a bun and two ponytails.
With the bangs.
Yeah, let's talk for 30 minutes before we get into the tutorial.
Just to increase watch time.
Wanted all his people to be Christians.
He wants to stop cannibalism in his province.
And the good thing about Christianity now,
everybody's a Christian in Fiji, all the villages.
Now we came to learn how to love one another.
No more fighting.
No more cannibalism.
The last person to be eaten up in this valley was from England.
Sussex in England.
His name was Reverend Thomas Baker.
And it was the tribe from the top.
They kill him just because he took out the comb from the chief's hair.
In Fiji there's lots of taboo in the village.
One of the taboo is that you're not allowed to touch somebody on the head.
So he was the first ever Englishman to be tried up there.
So he was very tasty.
So they sent the meat down the river to some more villages down the river.
Including his leather boot.
Because they thought the leather boot was part of his body.
We were walking around barefoot.
So when they saw this, he had leather boot.
And they thought, oh, this white man has a different type of leg.
It's very hard.
So they put it back in the boat for a few more days.
They managed to eat part of the leather boot.
Leftover leather boot, if you go around to Suva City,
make sure you go to the Fiji Museum.
We have the Fiji Museum in Suva City.
You can check it out.
The leftover leather boots, his Bible, and his gems.
It's all in there.
And all the stories about Reverend Lomis Vega and how he got killed up there.
I hear some babies.
So cute.
Okay, now that we got to the village, I'm going to put on my sarong.
Now the villagers are looking forward to see you.
So one thing that's kind of fun is we're sort of,
even though we're just a tour group,
we are presenting ourselves as one family.
And so we had to elect a chief.
And so we elected the eldest member of the tour group,
Judge's Gentleman.
I think it's in his 70s.
So he is our chief.
And I believe he will be the one leading like the kava ceremony.
Ladies, if you want one,
50 is for free.
Oh, thank you.
There you go.
That's it.
Second row, pull up a bit.
We present the kava, the passport.
Hope you'll give us a green light, okay?
And they receive the kava.
They say, welcome home.
You're no longer from Australia.
You're no longer from New Zealand.
You're no longer from the US.
Now you're part of this village.
Now in front of you, that's the big bowl where we mix the kava.
From this big bowl, we have a metal bowl where we crush it, the powder.
Once we crush it, we wrap it nicely with the same newspaper.
Then we bring it, we put it straight into the cloth.
We call it a strainer.
That's where the powder has been trapped and you let the juice come out.
You can see the juice of the kava coming out.
That's a root of a plant.
It's been introduced to Fiji a long time ago.
Grab one stick, another one.
There you go.
Hold your cup.
Back home, we say cheers.
In Fiji, they say a big hula.
Hula.
It's just baby powder, Ella.
Watch out.
I'm not a baby.
You are now.
Fiji girls.
What's in your room?
Let me see!
That's...
Oh, Ella the elephant!
So cute.
Oh, what's your one, Shawn?
Shawn the swan.
Ella the elephant.
Look at the sky right now.
So pretty.
Guys, so Ella has been documenting this entire trip as a graphic novel.
You want to do a quick flip through?
So it's me sleeping with my bonnet on.
It's 4 a.m in the morning.
This is daddy waking me up.
Wake up!
That's me walking.
That's Shawn.
That's us brushing our teeth.
All right, you guys.
So we're going to a photo shoot right now.
And we met our wonderful camera crew.
And they brought us these...
Ooh.
Ooh, the flower's milking on me.
Oh.
Ooh.
Oh, it's sticky.
Oh, it's really...
I don't want this.
I don't want.
No.
All right.
So she's currently hiding from it.
I gotta catch up.
In Fiji, we call it...
It is a tree of life.
Why we call coconut tree is a tree of life?
Because every part of the coconut,
start from the coconut trunk,
to the coconut,
and also to the coconut leaves,
they are all usable.
So that's why we call it...
It is a tree of life.
Okay.
Go under.
Over.
Under again.
And pull.
Looks good.
Okay, we're heading out to dinner.
And tonight, we're eating at Nabo,
which is the fine dining restaurant
here at Intercontinental.
After dinner, there's going to be
a very cool performance.
Okay, ladies.
You want to tell us about your outfits?
I'm just doing a little green sifani number.
My fit, very pink.
Stylish.
Market check.
Hair.
Amazon.
Dress.
You don't get to know.
Bag.
I don't know.
Shoes.
The mall.
Oh.
You also don't get to know.
From the mall.
Your sandwich for the evening.
This is lime salt.
Coconut salt.
There's turmeric and curry leaf salt.
And this is chili salt.
Whatever salt choice you love,
I'll drop it in the shell.
Put a bit of olive oil,
add some of the vinegar,
and you create yourself a big boiled egg.
Very, very last time.
Really, really, really, really, really, really.
Pacha.
It's not pancake, it's pachiluwa, eh.
We are off to do a little adventure today.
We're doing a jet ski three-hour tour.
I think we're going to go out to a sandbar
and have a little light meal
and refreshments and drinks there.
So it should be pretty cool.
Guys, look how tall I am.
And the girls are fighting with each other
over who gets to ride with me
because I go the fastest.
We don't want to go with mommy.
No, they're fighting over who gets to go with me
because I go really fast all the time.
That's not what's happening.
What did you guys think of the ride?
So we did a photo shoot yesterday
and our photographer Aaron is a Fiji local
and he told us the trick with walking on sand
with a lot of coral
is don't lift your foot up too high.
And it works.
Okay, off to the next island.
So we just checked in.
We're going to another island.
It's called Sabu Sabu.
So we're staying at another resort
which is called the Cusco Resort.
Hey, this is Sabu Sabu Airport.
So small and cute.
Oh, they got a car seat for Aimee.
Thank you.
All right, let's go check out our room.
Oh, beautiful.
Wow.
Oh, this is so nice.
Oh, so much room.
So we just got to the resort.
This place is amazing.
As soon as we got in, they were singing.
These guys have guitars.
It was like such a warm welcome.
And as soon as we got in,
they took the kids to the kids club,
showed them around.
They met some new kids, which is really nice.
And all in all, this place has been amazing so far.
We just had lunch.
We just got settled into our room.
So things are beautiful right now.
One cool thing here is this coconut.
If you want the do not disturb,
you don't want to come and disturb.
You take this coconut and you put this big thing
in front of your door.
No one's going to come bother you,
which is really nice.
And one thing to note is that this place,
there's no TV.
There's no phones.
Everything is sort of like very natural.
You have Wi-Fi, which is you can stay in touch
with whoever you need to speak to.
But it's very like natural,
kind of like an eco-friendly type of place.
All right.
One thing that's cool about this place
is that laundry is included.
And so they have this system where green
is for hand wash only.
Black is for color clothes.
White is for lights.
And you basically leave your clothes here
and they will take care of the laundry
for you every day, included for free,
which is really, really nice.
So as soon as we checked in,
we found a new buddy.
He really likes the girls.
So how's that pillow pancake?
So that's this thing.
Guys, this iced coffee is so good.
This is my second one already.
It's basically like a frappuccino,
like ice cream in it.
Are there coffee beans on it?
There are coffee beans on it.
So we're walking to the kids club right now.
We can hear Ella screaming.
Always so loud.
Always the loudest girls.
We're the loudest kids, period.
What'd you get?
Wow.
So Ella, I thought you were scared of crabs.
I am.
But you're holding this hermit crab.
But some crabs are okay.
But some crabs aren't.
Oh, this is pretty brave of you, Ells.
Thank you.
So how was the kids club?
You guys spent the whole day there.
Yeah.
And what'd you guys do?
Well, we swam in the pool a lot
and we played seesaw.
So I had to like,
and then everybody came into the pool.
So then I was just like,
oh, it's too crowded.
And then that's how I found this one.
So today we're doing something very cool.
We are actually visiting a local village here on Sabu Sabu.
And so the resort works pretty closely with this village.
A lot of the activities on the resort,
like the crab hunts,
I believe you can kind of put some money down on the crabs
and all of those proceeds actually go
to help build schools and everything here.
So when we first came in,
there was actually a kindergarten
right in the front of the village,
which is one of the projects that was built
with the funds raised by the resort.
Why are you so excited right now?
Because there's shopper-tunity.
There's shopper-tunity.
That's the main draw right now.
So I did a little bit of shopping.
Bought some souvenirs.
This one is for when the girls are not listening to me.
And then this one,
this cannibal fork,
it's when they're really not listening.
Just kidding.
These are just souvenirs.
They're just gonna go in our little travel shelf,
which has a lot of memories from our trips.
Okay, we are off to the spa
and Serge is getting a massage.
I am gonna try this treatment
where it's supposed to help with sunburn.
My sunburn's a lot better, thankfully.
You got some color now.
Yeah, it's not lobster red anymore.
But yeah, hopefully that'll help the healing process some more
because I need it.
We haven't really done that much vlogging since we got here
and that's because the girls have pretty much
just been at the kids club the whole day.
I haven't wanted to get in there
and stick a camera in their face.
I just wanted to give them their space to do their own thing.
But yeah, it's just been super relaxing.
The girls have been off playing with the kids club staff
and Serge and I have been able to just relax.
Yeah, it's been nice.
Yeah, got a little work done as well,
which it's a lot of videos I'm trying to get out, you guys.
Like the end of the year is coming
and it's like everything's piling up right now.
But we also did manage to enjoy the resort as well,
enjoy some beach time, pool time.
