Did you know that Istanbul is the largest city in Europe and also the only city in the whole world which is on two continent at the same time? Today, we take you around both the European and Asian sides of Istanbul to discover its history, food and popular attractions.
Our journey starts in Europe by the Galata Tower for... Cheesecake! We had to check our the current trend around the San Sebastian cheesecake. It was delicious but please, if you only eat one dessert in Istanbul, make it a baklava.
From there, we walk to the Istanbul Bazaar, one of the oldest one in the world. From spices to clothing and jewelry, you can find anything you want in this one place. The Istanbul Grand Bazaar attract up to 400,000 people daily so get ready for a little bit of chaos.
One of the most popular activity in Istanbul are the Bosphorus cruises. DO NOT USE Land & Sea like we did but here is a link to book with other companies: https://viator.tp.st/ZSKzuyig
Moques are everywhere around Turkey and Istanbul is no exception. With that being said, two mosques are more famous than other, The Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque. You have to visit a least one of them during your stay in Istanbul. The Blue Mosque is free so no excuses.
Then it was time to take a ferry from Europe to Asia. We ended up in Kadikoy for some food. We had been dreaming of trying some Manti and it was everything we had expected and more. For those, we highly suggest Sayla Manti which have been serving this Turkish dish since 1969. And to end the day perfectly, have a baklava at Sekerci Cafer Erol!
If you are planning a longer stay in Istanbul or like to mix travel and work, we highly suggest the apartment where we stayed for two weeks. It is called The Superior Living and you can have a look at it here: https://booking.tp.st/x1PcFvBa
