One day, a monk was begging for alms in a village. It was in the evening, and it began to rain. The monk knocked at the door of a rich man’s home and asked if he could stay the night. The housekeeper opened the door and asked, “What do you want?” The monk said, “The rain is too heavy I cannot go back to the temple. Please let me stay here for the night. Any room is fine.” The housekeeper told the owner of the house, but the owner refused. The housekeeper told the monk and shut the door, leaving the monk outside.
