I'm going to give you some basics on just how to arrange them in a vase when you are
working with a monomechanical situation like this, meaning all one flower.
And I'm going to talk about using line flowers and how to do easy placement so that you get
this nice garden style bouquet.
Now are we going to win any awards with this one?
Probably not.
But if you were just learning the basics of flower arranging, I've got some quick easy
tips for you.
More importantly, we're going to talk about snapdragons.
So they are named after the mythical creature of dragons.
So there's a couple of different theories of why, because these look like little dragon
heads and they open up, I'll show you in just a second, but also in Greek, it means nose-like.
So it looks like a little nose-like creature with their balloons.
But I like more the theory of snapdragons.
So I'm going to pluck off, you know what, I don't have to pluck it off, I think I can
do it like this.
So he opens and snaps shut.
He opens and snaps shut.
This is why people call them snapdragons.
Or at least that's what we think.
This is also how they're pollinated.
So small bugs cannot get inside of here, but stronger bees, who are their main pollinators,
can weasel their way in there to pollinate these flowers, which I think is pretty interesting.
But super fun just to play with them a little bit.
I'm already making fog.
Okay.
Snapdragons come in all sorts of colors.
Your pinks, your whites, your lavenders, yellows, orange, which actually is called tausman.
It's more of like an orange and a hot pink.
That is my personal favorite.
Multiple shades of pink, multiple shades of purples, burgundies, what other color?
I mean, just about every color.
Snapdragons signify truth, youth, and beauty.
And I think we all could use a little bit more of that.
So we hope you enjoy your snapdragons this month, and keep watching for a few tips on
how to arrange them.
We're going to start with our greenery, and I'm crossing my stems as they go into my base.
This is going to help create a grid to hold everything in place.
Of course, remove any leaves, foliage that are going to fall below your waterline.
Now my first stem I placed for height.
Even though it's not staying exactly where I want it, I'm using it as a reference point.
Now I want you to envision your arrangement from above.
And as you're placing these snapdragons into your base, picture triangles that you're placing
them at the three points of the triangle.
And each stem you place is going to create a new triangle in that arrangement.
This is going to help create a nice round shape.
Now you are going to have to do some adjustments.
Things are going to move as you're going, but the more you do this, the easier it's
going to get.
So keep creating those triangles and placing your stems to tighten up that grid and keep
everything in place.
This grid really is the key point.
I talk about it all the time in my videos, but it makes a big difference.
And that's how everything is going to stay exactly where you like it.
Like I said, you might do some adjustments.
Here I am cutting some a little bit shorter, changing them, but enjoy the process and we
hope you enjoy your flowers.
