2022 NBA Finals 🏆 Warriors vs Celtics: Game 6

All right, Lisa, let's look at our starting lineups. Steve Kerr going with that same starting lineup. Three straight games now with Otto Porter, along with Thompson, Curry, Green, and Wiggins. Looney will come off the bench. Meanwhile, the usual starting five for Ime Udoka and the Boston Celtics with Robert Williams at the center position. They doubled the Warriors up from the offensive board standpoint, and Curry was awful shooting, and they lost, why? Eight team turnovers to seven for the Warriors. Draymond Green floats out of it and banks it home. And they are really trying to force Curry to his right hand tonight, as Wiggins responds with a three. Well, you expected this type of start from the Celtics through that big roundhouse to begin the game. Playing with that proper desperation. Thompson, off balance, rattles around and drops in. Beautiful fall away for both teams when they have struggled offensively because we've got two great defensive teams as Thompson launches and nails a three. Five on the 24, Williams looking for help. Curry takes him off the dribble, gets inside, layup is good, oh, what a beautiful move from Curry. They want to open up the floor and get Curry in high screen to roll action. Curry tries to split the defense, gets it back after nearly losing it. Cross court pass to Poole. Thought about it, instead drives, stops, bank shot is good. That's four turnovers for Golden State. Derrick White across the lane. Looney with the block, but you're guarding Wiggins. Whips it to Payton. Three pointer missed it, gets his own rebound and banks it in. Warriors defense has become very good since that early timeout. Curry kicks it out green, wide open and finally gets it a go. He missed all 12 of his three point attempts. Curry to Payton. Three pointer, right side is good. On 24, White giving the open look, now drives on Wiggins. The runner blocked by Wiggins, kept alive, stolen by Payton. Robert Williams got the rebound and Payton's hands deflected it. What a block from Andrew Wiggins. Poole steps back, banks it in. Poole nails it, that's 11 straight points. Wiggins drives on Williams, bank shot, no good. Draymond Green tips it out to Poole and Poole nails the three. Again, Golden State looking to push at every opportunity. Threat the needle and Wiggins banks it in. Gorgeous feed from Thompson. Small line up green now, the small ball center. Poole, sidestep, three pointer missed it. Draymond Green another rebound, kicks it back out. Poole's gonna try again and nails another. You fall in love with the way that Poole has started, knocking down shots, but Draymond Green is making plays all over the floor. Another turnover, Poole pushes, finds Wiggins, Wiggins throws it down. And the Celtics need another timeout. Golden State scored 21 in a row. We have seen just huge momentum swings throughout the playoffs. Celtics have been leading the charge in that area pretty much every round. Bay Thompson falling away, shot is good from Thompson, his third field goal. There's more opportunities to make mistakes. Celtics picked it up. White to Robert Williams for an easy one. Wiggins with the corner three. Gets a nice soft bounce. They've got nine offensive rebounds already here in the first half. Curry sees some room, nails a three. Steph Curry, his second three pointer. Boy, this is the best Draymond Green has played in a while. That's saying a lot. He's been all over the floor on both sides of the court. Had a good game five, but an excellent start here in six. Steph Curry once again, dancing and prancing in the paint. Draymond Green orchestrating. Oh, what a pass! And Thompson with the bank in. Timeout Boston as the lead balloons to 18. Well, you're talking about the bench, Mike. Minus 24 with White on the floor, minus 20 with Pritchard, and minus 23 with Williams in five and a half minutes. Thompson catches, fires, hits a three! Clay Thompson from downtown. I asked Jimmy Odoka how they begin to turn this around. He said, it starts with increasing our physicality. He said, we weren't on bodies in that first half, not connected to shooters. The Warriors were getting every 50-50 ball. He said, we have to pick up our effort. I asked him if Golden State was turning them over. He said, no, we're doing it to ourselves. And this crowd trying to fire up this team. Clay Thompson on the bounce, the runner short, rebound Wiggins. Four rebounds so far. Curry sidestep, wide open three. Got it! To spot him in the corner as Robert Williams sets a little bit of a brush spring. Four assists for Tatum. Porter tries a three to answer, and does! Idole Porter with his first points of the night. Clay Thompson. Curry sidestep, three-pointer. It's good! Steph Curry from downtown! And a lead back up to 19. Holford's got nine points already here in the period. Idole Porter tries again. Idole Porter hits again! And Drayvon Green pushing. Six assists for Green. Curry a long three. That's good! Chaos here on the third! It's the largest lead of the game! Curry against Grant Williams. Step back, another three-pointer. Wiggins with the chip, left-handed. Andrew Wiggins comes in. I'm getting Tatum the basketball with Jordan Poole defending it. Green double-teams and deflects it. Playing another fine defensive play. Green looking. Green fires. Drayvon Green! It's another perimeter shot! With the shot selection, so we can get right back in the game. They let us do that. We just have to limit it to one shot, find the shooters, and take care of the ball. Smart looking to post up Poole. Payton looking to help. Bad pass deflected by Thompson and another steal. Wiggins inside to Payton, and Payton throws it down! The turnover's once again costly for Boston. Poole on the drive, gets inside. Reverse layup is good! Sweet move from Poole. He's got 15 points. Curry drives on. Smart gets inside. Left-handed, banks it home! 23 for Curry. Six and a half remaining, down by nine. With Horford all over him. Five on the 24, Curry. The scoop layup is good! Tatum one-on-one with Wiggins. Gets into the paint. Blocked by Wiggins! Another sensational defensive play from Andrew Wiggins. Horford now picks him up. Here comes Tatum to help. Back to Green, to Wiggins. His corner three. It's good again! Brown against Curry. Drive spins into a double-team. Another turnover into that crowd that you spoke about, Jeff. Here's Thompson. Thompson to Green, banks it in! And just like that, it's back up to 13 with 4.40 to play. But you're switching for no reason. That wasn't even a screen. Marcus Smart bails out and forces Al Horford to defend Curry. Curry against Horford, gets past him inside. Off the glass again! And more magic here in game six. Curry gets it. Fakes, fires three-pointer. Bang! Steph Curry from downtown! A 15-point lead. And you hear the groans from the crowd as Curry drives inside. Back out to Wiggins. Wiggins, a three-pointer. Puts it in! A 15-point lead with 1.43 to play. The Warriors are ready to celebrate. And here's the ovation. I'm watching Steph Curry crying and laughing. Sometimes it gets so good that you have to do both. He's earned this moment. At 34 years old, still magic on the basketball court as Lee Smith fouls Curry. And Mike, how about this chance? He left for a couple of years, but returned this year as Curry puts on the finishing touches. And the crowd just staying right now to cheer on Boston. At the end, Curry with a steal. Yet another Celtic turnover. That's what did them in in these finals. Of course, Steph Curry with his dad. The emotion's just pouring out. Boy, these Warriors are ready to celebrate. And that'll do it. It's over. The Golden State Warriors return to a familiar place. They're on top of the NBA world. The fourth title in eight years. The Dubs dynasty is still very much alive. A spectacular finish to another spectacular career for Steph Curry. All the hard work, all the sacrifice has paid off as they reach the goal. So many great stories on that floor. Overcoming a lot of adversity as a team, individually and collectively. They deserve to take a bow. Congratulations. You are the 2022 NBA champions. And that guy, Curry, wherever he is, there he is right there. Go talk to him. He's the reason for all this. He's a four-time NBA champion, a two-time league MVP, a member of our 75th anniversary team, and for the first time ever, he's an NBA Finals MVP. The 2022 Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP award goes to Stephen Curry. I knew it was a possibility to see it in real time. Holy cannoli, this is crazy. Gotta give kudos to them. But we did what we do. Welcome back to the Warriors Invitational, baby. It's what we do. It seems in some ways, this one means more than the others. Well, their championship DNA showed up when it was needed. They still know what it takes to win it all. They know how hard it is. And all that experience had them ready for the moments. And Curry pretty much missed one entire season except for five games. The dynasty thing gets tossed around sometimes a little too easily, but they are certainly one of those teams that you could say in their era was a dynasty. And the Chase Center, come October, will raise another banner. You gotta capitalize when the opportunity presents itself. And that's the thing, in my opinion, that's gonna sting this Celtic team moving forward. But for the Golden State Warriors, the time where they share their joy and their celebration with their family. In the throne of the NBA, NBA champions, as the Golden State Warriors and finals MVP, Steve Curry, Seth Curry, will celebrate long into the night. As the Warriors clinch their fourth title in eight years here in Boston, we say congratulations, Golden State, the 2022 NBA champions.
