The solstice has come and gone, which means it's officially summertime in Pennsylvania.
Nate Snelbaker, wine specialist with Fine Wine and Good Spirits, is helping people prepare for the season with a selection of sweet and savory cocktails.

We are sipping into summer in the Fox 43 kitchen.
We have Nate from fine wine and
good spirits with us this morning.
And of course today it's all about
the summer cocktails because yesterday
was the first day of summer.
So we're getting in the spirit.
What do you have for us to get in the spirit?
Oh my gosh, so clever.
Look at that.
I'd like to think I did it on purpose,
but I did not.
Alright, Nate, what are we making
some summer inspired drinks?
So the first one we're going
to do is the summer peach.
So this is going to be an ounce
of white rum, which in this case
is going to be the Captain Morgan.
So we're going to add that into the shaker.
We want an ounce of the peach schnapps.
There we go.
And then it's going to be
two ounces of orange juice.
Can smell that peach from here.
It's it's a pretty strong.
Oh yes, that is a strong one.
And then we are going to shake that.
Shake it up.
I love it with the summer cocktails.
You can really add those
fruit drinks into them.
The fruit mixes and that kind of gives
you that little sweet summer vibe.
So we're going to put that in the glass.
So I'm going to top it off with an ounce
of cranberry juice for a little bit tartness.
And some fun color.
Yeah, I don't know.
Look at that.
That makes it look like when you do
stuff like that.
Like if I do that at home,
it makes it fancy.
It makes it look like I know what I'm doing.
Yes, that's the key to life.
Pretend.
Fake it till you make it.
And then you can you can put a little
bit of garnish on there.
OK, but you can make a nonalcoholic
version too if you'd like.
I'm going to do that as you as you keep
because you said just instead of the
peach schnapps, we just kind of swap
out some peach nectar.
Yeah, all right.
So I'm going to do that.
I'm going to do that.
I got I'm going to make them for me
and Jackie are and you can move down
and tell me about what else we have here.
So the second one we have here
is the spiked lemonade.
So that is two ounces,
the platinum 10 X vodka
and then six ounces of your favorite
lemonade.
Just shake that together.
Put that in a glass is a real simple,
simple one, you know, and I
garnished it with some blueberries
and some kiwis.
And again, we can do a little bit of
mint on top.
Adds that little aromatic top.
I love putting frozen fruit
into my drinks like frozen
blueberries and stuff like that.
It just adds that extra flavor and
ice cubes.
Yeah, you don't water it down quite
as much with the frozen fruit, too.
So it keeps the flavors more lively.
And then the last one we have is the
summer sunset, which
is an ounce of this
redemption high ride bourbon,
half an ounce of the strawberry
sour mash liqueur,
which is actually really tasty.
I like that.
Two dashes of Angostura bitters
and then half an ounce of lime juice.
You throw that in your shaker.
You mix it up.
You put it in the glass there and
you top it with ginger beer.
My favorites, the Gosling's.
And then we can.
Cut a little fancy strawberry to
put on the rim of each glass and
again.
It's a little mint.
I say it's not the garnishes, right?
There's a fresh bartender
shot over there.
I do.
I mean, this is what I tell you.
You see what I do for you, Jackie?
I do this right.
I make it fancy.
Hit the mints.
Yeah, hit it with a little mint.
You don't always need the alcohol.
You can do a little bit of everything.
Little secret, though.
I completely messed up.
You did?
You never tell.
Well, I can't, you know, I cannot lie.
So here it is.
Nate, thank you so much.
The summer peach.
Let me try it.
Delish.
Couldn't tell you messed up.
Yeah, I shouldn't have told you.
You shouldn't have told me.
Keeping it to myself.
As always, though,
if you're not having the mocktail
version, make sure you drink
responsibly.
Nate, thanks so much.
Happy summer.
