It was definitely love at first sight for Colin Jost. In his new memoir, A Very Punchable Face,
the comedian recalled his first impression of future fiancée Scarlett Johansson,
describing her as beautiful, smart, sweet, and intimidatingly sophisticated.
The pair met on the set of Saturday Night Live in 2006, which happened to be Colin's
first year as a sketch writer and Scarlett's first time hosting. He wrote,
I got eight sketches on the show my first year, including one cold open,
and a parody of MTV's My Super Sweet 16, starring first-time host Scarlett Johansson.
She had just turned 20, and I was 23. She claims that she remembers thinking I was cute,
but I know what I looked like, and that's not the word I would have used."
He also wrote that the Black Widow star had a quote,
Colin even confessed that his romance with Scarlett has sparked his desire to have children.
He shared,
I've met someone I love and who I feel more comfortable with than I ever have before.
I feel more confident committing to what I'm working on and standing by whatever I create,
regardless of whether people like it or not. I've woken up on a Sunday after a show and thought,
I would love to be raising a baby right now, which is a far cry from when I used to wake up
on a Sunday and think, can I make it to the bathroom or should I just puke on this plant?
The couple announced their engagement in May 2019 after two years of dating.
Months later, the actress gushed over the proposal on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Congratulations. You got engaged since the last time I saw you.
I did, yes.
Were you expecting that?
Did it!
You did it. You locked him in.
He's such a cute guy.
He is a cute guy. I mean, I'm partial, you know.
Now we're engaged, so I'm going down that path now.
Right. Now, were you really expecting it and thinking, when is this finally going to happen?
No, I don't think so. I guess I, I mean, it seemed like it, you know,
it was something that I thought would be nice. I mean, we talked about.
Right, right. Did he do it in a romantic way? You don't have to say exactly what,
but he did.
He killed it. He did like a whole James Bond situation.
He was very, yeah. I know he's, yeah, he was surprising.
Yeah.
Yeah, he's got a lot behind that news desk. He was hiding it.
Scarlett was previously married to Ryan Reynolds and journalist Romaine Dariac,
with whom she has a daughter named Rose, who was born in 2014.
