Life in houses in harmony with nature

Good morning guys, welcome back and today I'm going to film one of the most requested videos,
a tour of our new beautiful mountain villa. It's a three bedroom, two bath on 57 acres
and I'm super excited to show you guys around. I really do enjoy this house, it's very pleasing
on the eye and the way it's been positioned on the property, it's in the perfect location
next to the lake with the island and we have this block paving that wraps around the entire lake and
the entire house. So one thing you'll notice on the outside of the building is the shutters,
so useful to keep the sun out if you're having a big storm, you can hunker down inside as well
as around the whole entire house. We've got these lovely lights so at night you can find your way
around really easily. One of the great things about having so much room around the house,
it means that I can park my UTV directly outside the house and if friends and family come over,
there's room for four, five, six, seven, probably ten cars around this house. You can also drive
all the way around which is quite useful. Another great thing about the landscaping of this house
is this beautiful stone wall that's taller than I am, that wraps most the way around,
separating the house from the forest. We have this lovely font area, in the old Portuguese
villages you often have these fonts where you can go and fill up your water and we have our very own
one here which is really cool. It's carved out of granite and this water comes straight from a spring
on the side of the mountain. So this is one of my favourite areas on the outside of the house,
it's a massive veranda, this is going to be an amazing entertaining space and you can see behind
me here we have a really nice brick oven so definitely going to have lots of pizzas cooked
in here, maybe bake some bread. Further on we've got ourselves an open barbecue, get the coals
going, cook up a nice grill, that's going to be really useful as well and then moving on over here
we just have an area where we can prepare stuff. We haven't cleaned it up or tidied yet, this is
literally how we brought it and how it's been left. We've got outside plug sockets which is
going to be really useful because I want to mount a big TV up here because over in this corner this
is my dream to have a nice hot tub, a two-person hot tub tucked away in the corner and you can sit
in the hot tub and watch YouTube on the wall, that's going to be epic. And over here we have
an outside sink which is already really useful
with cupboards, everything needs cleaning out, it's a little bit dirty, there's some
bird poo over the place but yeah just a little bit of cleaning, a little bit of TLC,
some fresh paint on the wall and this place is going to look stunning. I'm not sure what's in here,
a boot, always useful but yeah that's the veranda and I'm super stoked, I know we're
going to be spending plenty of time here chilling out in the summer overlooking the lake. So I've
seen a lot of comments from you guys asking us how we're getting electricity on our new property
since when the fire came through it knocked out all of our electricity, well I've been using the
EcoFlow Delta Pro and it's absolutely incredible. So this portable power solution has been an
absolute game changer for us on this property, I love how portable this power solution is,
I can literally just wheel it anywhere on the property and I've been using it down in the
up in the forest and even inside the house to power things like lighting. So not only does the
EcoFlow Delta Pro look really nice, it also packs a punch, it's got a 3.6 kilowatt hour capacity
that can be extended all the way up to 25 kilowatt hours. Because the Delta Pro is so portable but
also really powerful, I've been using it all over the property for different things like charging
my chainsaw batteries, I've even used it to cook food in the house on the microwave which is really
useful when I get a little bit peckish, it will even run off fridge freezer. So the great thing
about the Delta Pro is it's really easy to use and everything's plug and play, so all I need to do
to actually power the battery is unfold this portable 400 watt solar panel that I can use
anywhere on the property and I can charge the high-capacity lithium battery really quickly
from anywhere. The battery lasts for years on end as it has an LFO battery with 6,500 cycles
and it's incredibly safe and efficient. This device has all the power outputs that you could ask for,
it's got four AC sockets as well as USB-Cs and fast charging USBs and if I turn it on,
one of my favorite parts of this device is the lovely LED screen that tells you loads of
different information like the percentage of the battery life and also how many days of power you'll
have left. It's a really big inverter at 3,600 watts so you can charge pretty much anything that
you like. So not only can you use solar to charge the Delta Pro, you can also charge it via your car
but one of my favorite things about this whole system is you can actually go on your smartphone
and download a free EcoFlow app where you can control the Delta Pro and check out all of the
settings of how much input and output you're using. EcoFlow make a huge range of different
products so if you just want a small portable power solution to go camping at the weekend with
or you want a system for your van, RV or boat or you want a big solar power system for your home
then make sure you click the link in our description to check out more. So welcome to
the inside of our beautiful new home. I'm really excited to show you the inside but before we do
that I just want to say throughout the tour I'm going to be talking a little bit about our vision
for this house. Maybe things we want to add to it, maybe things we want to change and one of the first
things that I want to talk about is this front door. It's just not really in the style that we'd
like it to so we will be changing this front door but it's not high on the priority list. Let's go
and check inside. So this house is exactly how it was left when we bought it. We have not changed,
modified or moved anything so I thought it's a really good time to give you guys a tour
so you can see how it is now and see how it's going to be in the future when we make all of
those changes. Through this door that takes you through to the living and kitchen area that I'll
show you in a little while but through here we have this really big entrance hall. We've got
stairs going up to the second floor and under the stairs we have room for so much storage so
I'm actually going to build some wooden shelves under here so we've got plenty of space to kick
off our wellies. They can all go out the way and over in the far corner I'm actually going to have
a chest freezer so all of the stuff that we grow, we preserve, we've got somewhere to store it and
all of the stuff has just been left here by the previous owners so
you can see here we've got lots of plastic chairs, we've got a fishing rod which was no doubt used
to fish in the lake just outside of the house so that's really cool. I'm very excited to stock the
lake full of fish. I think it'll be really good keeping the mosquitoes down and just part of the
ecosystem in the lake. So leading on from the entrance hall is a door that leads into a very
loud bathroom. You can see the tiles, bright yellow and bright orange. They will be getting
changed eventually. As I said before some things need changing quicker than others and this is just
a cosmetic detail but we will change but there's no rush. Down here we actually have an area,
a plug, we have water coming in and our outlet for our washing machine so that's really cool
that we can have a washing machine and a dryer in the house. Over here we've got the bidet,
classic Portuguese necessity. We have our toilet which is very nice. There's me sitting on the
phone. We also have a bath. I'm so excited to have a bath in my house. It's been a long long time
and we have the most extravagant shower head and faucet that you've ever seen in your life. It's
like a fake gold and marble. I'm not sure what they were thinking to be honest but
I think we may be changing that. So if you want to win this faucet let me know in the comments and
if we wrap around here you'll be able to see we have plenty of storage in here for all of your
bathroom necessities and they just left loads of really nice things around. It's like someone still
lives here which is really cool because we'll probably end up using a lot of this stuff.
Then we have a nice little vanity unit, a crazy tap again, the marble and gold,
a nice big sink. So yeah I'm going to be spending a lot of time in here in that bath relaxing after
a hard day. So come on through to our absolutely massive living and kitchen area. It's all open
planned which I absolutely love and you can see the light is flooding through here. We haven't got
the actual light on because as I said the electrics was cut off in the fire so I've been using the
Delta Pro with a little lamp to see if I need to do anything in here. The kitchen is absolutely
massive but what you might be able to see behind me which is really cool, it's a double-sided
wood burner which actually heats the entire house and there's vents on the second floor
that make it warm upstairs which is really cool. You can see down here
it's got a few cobwebs, needs a little bit of cleaning out but I'm very excited to get this
going in the winter. I think it's going to be a real nice area to sit around and just hang out.
The kitchen's huge. Bee's very excited about the kitchen. To have a kitchen
this big is absolutely ridiculous. There's all the workspace you could hope for. We've got a massive
double fridge freezer. Check that out. We're going to be able to store a lot of stuff in there
and then we just have cupboards full of stuff that was left. So we have a vacuum cleaner, we have all
the cleaning supplies you could hope for, tea towels. Over here you just have to open a drawer
and you've got all of the cutlery ready to go. I don't know what's in here, just random stuff.
That's quite cool, I like that. Could be like a little hat. Under here you have jars, maybe for
when they used to be growing their food and jarring it. That's going to be really useful.
Let's see what's in here. We've got more cutlery. You can tell that this place used to be where
the whole extended family used to come out and hang out in the summer and the estate agent actually
told us because he was one of the family friends and he used to come and swim in the lake in the
summer. So that probably explains all of this crazy cutlery. We've even got some straws for the
kids, frozen. Pretty cool, I don't think I'll be using them. And then through here, like I said,
we just have crazy amounts of kitchen towels, paper towels. We won't have to buy a lot of stuff
here. Look, we've got sieves, all the sieves that you could want in the strainers in the world.
Loads of Tupperware. I actually haven't looked in most of these cupboards.
We've got a toaster that looks like it's from the 80s, which is pretty cool. And loads of different
electrical devices that will probably come in handy that we won't need to buy.
I'm getting excited now. I'm just looking through everything. A rolling pin. Who doesn't need a
rolling pin? They left a coffee machine, coffee maker. We've got the microwave. We've just got
mugs upon mugs upon mugs. We've got wine glasses. We've got plates. We have down here an actual
dishwasher, which is pretty incredible. That's a far cry from what we've ever had before.
Over here is the cooking situation. So it's actually an electric hob and an electric oven
as well. So everything's run on electric. We have no gas whatsoever. And I just love
all of the windows being able to see out over the forest. It's really nice.
So just to give you guys a little bit of scale of the size of the room,
you could definitely swing a few cats in here. And I'm walking over to the big dining table
that you could fit eight people round. It's massive. But this is going to be going and I'm
going to be replacing it with a pool table because I love playing pool. All the time I get spare,
I play pool. So I'm very excited to have my own pool table in my home. It's going to be really
cool. And then if you look up here, you'll actually see the lighting is perfectly in place
for the pool table. So I'm going to replace these lights for proper hanging pool table lights. And
if you come further over, you probably noticed already it's tiled throughout. It's going to be
really nice for the summer. Lovely terracotta style tiles. And over here is the other side
of the wood burner. In the winter, this is just going to be lovely sitting on the sofa,
watching the fire. And I really also like the style of this red brick. So in the living area,
there's this massive, great chaise longue of a sofa, which is really nice and comfortable,
actually. But we will be replacing it eventually with a nice new sofa. But we'll definitely
use this for probably another project on the property. There's lots of things that we're
going to change, but they're not big things like the lampshades, the curtains. We need to do a lot
painting in here and just freshen it up. There's some hairline cracks in the plaster that I need
to score back and refill in before we paint it. But everything's fairly minor and I'm really
excited to do this renovation because there's really not a lot to do. So walking up the stairs,
you'll notice the first thing we see is a doorway that leads through to the second bathroom.
So this bathroom is a really nice size. And as you can see, again, they've used a really bright
blue and white colour scheme. So eventually we will be changing these tiles. It's just
not in keeping with our style, but it's also not high up on the priority list to actually
change it. And you're probably wondering what this thing behind me is. It looks like a space rocket,
but what it actually is, is a solar water heater. So we have a solar panel on the roof and that
provides energy for free that heats the water, which brings down your electricity bill. So that's
really handy. And over here, they've left all sorts of things. So you can see inside this
cupboard, we've got all sorts of things like plasters. Plasters are always really useful.
We've got shaving foam, we've got all sorts of hair gels, even toothbrushes, toothpaste,
wet wipes, toilet roll, always useful as well. So there's just tons of things in here that
are just ready to go. I won't be using their toothbrushes, but some things we definitely can
keep. And then over this side, you can see, again, we have a bidet and a toilet. But what I'm most
excited about is this. This right here is a bunker. I've always wanted a bunker. So on the other side
of the bathroom, you can see that we have a contained shower unit, which is going to come
in really useful. If you want a bath, go downstairs. If you want a shower, come upstairs. And again,
we have a mirror with a sink and they just left loads of things that are going to be useful,
like a towel rack and things like that. So let's carry on with the tour and show you the upstairs
landing. So one thing that I really love about this big landing on the upstairs is the ceiling
height. It feels really spacious up here. And over here, it would have been used as an office.
You can see the table and chairs. There's even a chocolate here. I don't know how old this chocolate
is and I'm definitely not going to try it. But we have a ruler, pens, everything you could hope
for when you're in an office. We even have a three and a half inch floppy disk. The other side
of the landing is what's one of the most exciting parts for me, probably of the house,
as well as the pool table. Over here, we really want to have a big lazy boy sofa so that we can
sit and project onto the wall in the distance, all of the movies, Netflix, YouTube, and really have
this as an open kind of cinema area. It should be really cool when it's finished. So moving on
to the first of the three bedrooms. This is the smaller bedroom of the three and judging by
the things that have been left here, this was definitely the kids bedroom. We've even got a
little football net over here. One thing I'm really excited about is there's an actual full
Sky Electric, so I'm going to have to get that set up and have a go on that and bring myself back
to my childhood. But they've just left everything. There's a football, basketball hoop. We've got all
of these games that I'll be taking to the charity shop. We've also just got kids clothes, just loads
of them. So again, they will go to the charity shop because we won't be needing these kids clothes.
I haven't even looked yet. There's just more kids clothes in here. So it's almost like they've just
left and gone. We have a little kids bodyboard. It's pretty cool. But yeah, all of this stuff I'm
going to be giving away because we just don't need any of it. And we're actually going to be turning
this into Gingy's room, our cat, so she can get away from Fernando. We're going to put a little
electronic cat flap in the door so she can come in here, but Fernando can't. And this is going to
be mine and Bee's office. So any editing or computer work that we have to do, we can separate that and
put it in this room. So at the end of the hallway here, we have the two other bedrooms that are
really big. So if you come inside, they're really nice and bright as well. And they're just a really
decent size. We have two different windows in this room. So this is actually going to be the
master bedroom, mine and Bee's bedroom, because you can lie in bed and look out over the forest.
It's just really beautiful. And we have all of this storage as well that they just left.
So you can see here, they've even left like pillows, blankets. I don't know what's in here.
We've got a little jacket, a motorbike jacket,
kids bedding, an iron, so we don't have to buy an iron, which is good.
And then over here, we just have more storage. We've got goggles, maybe they used to swim in the,
obviously in the pool, the swimming pool that's outside the house, water bottles and loads of
towels. So yeah, they left a lot of things, but this is definitely going to be mine and Bee's
bedroom because it's just the lightest, the brightest, and it has the best views out of a
window. So the third and final bedroom is here, and it's another really decent size. This is going
to be the guest bedroom. So if you're lucky enough to come and stay with us here on the farm,
this is where you're going to be staying. And they left cupboards, drawers, everything. Once again,
we've got some bedside tables, some lamps, and this is literally the biggest bed I've ever seen.
I'm not sure whether you're meant to sleep width ways or length ways. It is huge. And I really like
this backboard here. I think we're going to reupholster that and keep it. It's just saved
a lot of money having to buy another bed. Over here, we have some storage area with blankets
and places to hang clothes. And then in here, if any of you guys want any jeans,
they left some jeans as well. So maybe they're coming useful one day. Who knows? But that
concludes the tour of the house. So I hope you guys enjoyed looking around our beautiful new
home. I'm incredibly excited for this place. It's going to be an incredible family home for the
future. I'm really excited to put our mark on it, put our stamp on it, and renovate it. It just
needs a lick of paint, modernization, and I think it's going to be a really beautiful place to live
and work out of. I hope you guys enjoyed the video and I'll catch you on the next one.
