Away from the other side! Away from the other side!
Right, right, go for right.
It looks like we're blocking them.
I actually thought that was us out for the count.
I'm so sorry man.
I don't know if you can see much but we've come out of our canal
and into the main section of the river.
We're trying to cross it but there's boats, there's massive ferries moving across.
It's kind of stupid.
Small orange dinghies and seven stupid English men.
An international journey from where we are right now in Austria
all the way to Bratislava in Slovakia.
Yeah, this is our first multi-day boat adventure.
We've got sleeping bags on our backs.
We're going to camp somewhere tonight, somewhere where the boats can take us.
That looks like quite a good place to set off,
although that could also open at any second.
Your boat looks like it's melting.
Where's that come?
And what a place to start.
Oh my goodness, this fish lad is so good.
It's at the start of a very long boating adventure that we're about to embark on.
We're going to soak up the jumps while we can
and after this we're going to jump in our dinghies
and get on our way on a very, very interesting adventure.
Adam closing the show with a dinger.
Start the journey of high spirits.
Kobi, you're going to be out in front in charge of the vessel.
Yeah, bloody hell.
You ready?
Okay, Toby's on board.
Okay, Drew, wade in with your boat now.
Okay.
If I step in, I'm off.
Okay, food.
I've got apples for everyone.
The further away I get from land, the scarier it is.
So don't put elbows on the edge.
Just try and get in like really...
Yeah, that's it.
Callum's got his boat filled wet already.
Callum is absolutely drenched.
Josh has got his life to this.
This is a Stora boat adventure, isn't it?
Nice, nice.
That was a good entry.
Don't put your hands on the side.
Don't put your hands on the side like that.
Callum.
Okay, we're going to have to be quick now, boys,
because they're going to be starting to get pulled.
That gate behind us is going to open in any second, so...
Just go for it.
Avoid the edges.
What an entrance, I'm powerly.
So we have upgraded boats since Barcelona.
These are actually ever so slightly bigger.
Seeing as we're going to spend days in them,
it made sense to have at least some space for extra supplies and all that.
Very soft, very lovely.
Josh, hang on.
I forgot about that.
What?
That's the sort of object you don't want on this trip.
It's a really sharp knife.
Look at us go.
F***ing hell, this is sick.
I am wet already.
Everyone will guess.
We're on the river.
What the hell are you doing in someone's shopping bag?
Are we crazy?
To cut the sausages.
All right, lads, lads, lads.
First hobby.
Oh, we're actually like oaring, like, you know what I mean?
Oh, you're supposed to stick the other way to oar, aren't you?
Follow Bob's lead.
Yeah.
Effectively steering.
Look at us.
We're already in an emergency.
It's been minutes.
It's been seconds.
Josh is detached.
Oh, Josh, get the carabiner.
It's right by your hand.
It's broken.
The carabiner's broken.
Oh, just bear one here.
Just bear one here, man.
Josh has become detached.
We're two minutes in and we're already a disaster.
Lads, we're twisting.
Toby needs to, Benji, you need to slow down and we need to speed up.
What are we in for, lads?
Mate, when a massive boat comes,
this is going to be problematic.
Like, I don't think we've got the steering thing down yet.
They did this, those guys that kicked us off the spot,
and they got capsized by one of the big boats.
It's possible.
It's very possible, lads.
All our food, tie up the food bags.
I think that's one of our biggest dangers on this trip.
Obviously, last time we were in a man-made canal,
but we're on just an actual river here.
Danube that goes all the way, I think, from the Black Forest in Germany to the Black Sea.
We're only going to do a part of that on this video,
but a significant chunk and one where there's a ton of massive boats
that clearly have the potential to capsize us.
So we're approaching the inner city circle now.
Things are going to get very interesting in terms of people just chilling by the river.
This is going to be very funny.
Josh, what's happening?
We've twisted.
You know, I don't know what the train ticket is from Vienna to Bratislava,
but I feel like this is a cheaper and more fun,
kind of more...
It's just a better way to travel, really, isn't it?
I think it's cheaper than the train.
It's definitely easier than driving.
What's happening?
Oh, f***ing hell.
There's a f***ing massive boat.
No, seriously, get over to Max's side.
Right, right, go for right, go for right, go for right.
Right, well, now we're right in the middle and not moving over anymore.
Ben, you've got to slow down.
It looks like we're f***ing blocking them.
No, but now it's going to whip us out, isn't it?
We're going to park.
F***!
Oh, f***.
F***ing Christ.
I'm going to park.
Oh, f***.
Now I'm pushing myself out.
Wait, which way do we have to go?
Yeah, that way.
Where's this f***ing boat?
Oh my God, that is actually so scary.
Oh my God.
Sorry.
We're just on our way to Bratislava.
Just heading to Slovakia.
What's that stench, man?
Oh my...
Oh my God, that smell.
That's disgusting.
The sewage smell coming out of there.
F***ing hell.
Oh man, I was absolutely f***ing myself.
I'm not going to lie.
Yeah.
Honestly, man, that was sketchy.
That was super f***ing scary.
I was literally just talking about how this is the best way to travel,
but I didn't take into account the stress factor.
That was quite a bit...
But I guess it's quite a big contrast.
It's like the most chilled experience ever.
You're just sliding down water
and then suddenly you have an emergency life or death situation.
Spikes of adrenaline and then just like...
Just back to peace.
At last, baby.
We'll be pros by the end of it, I reckon.
Yeah, did we establish anything?
Did we learn?
Yeah, it's exposure, isn't it?
Exposure.
So long as the next exposure doesn't take us out.
We could do a 2-2 formation, you know?
2-2.
Less chance of like the big concertina.
Yeah, it is a very good point.
The snake formation is kind of sketchy right now.
This is funny.
Look at this.
This is the beginning of the journey and we've got so much longer to go.
So we're all just figuring it out right now.
Josh, how do you feel about it?
On alert, really.
I'm not going to lie.
That was the kind of pinnacle of fear element of like a big boat kind of coming towards us
and how we'd react to it.
So it was like...
It was kind of make or break, really.
Honestly, in my mind.
That was the pinnacle of fear, folks.
We set off and we had the first obstacle, which was the house.
I just went full head-on into the house.
And our second obstacle was the boat.
That's a big ramp up, you know what I mean?
That was low-key ****.
And now I'm caught.
You've been rattled since your first encounter.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
How many more boats are we going to encounter between here and Slovakia?
A lot.
We're going to Russia.
These places reek, man.
You can see it's actually pouring out into the river, so that's not good.
But do you know what I mean?
It's going to come through there, isn't it?
Does everyone just do that?
Pop their suit into the river?
Seems like it's a common theme these days.
Into the window, into their soul.
Whoa, long neck.
Heron.
That bitch got a neck.
Oh, it's the same boat coming back.
Look.
We've got to make a decision quick.
The boat is coming back.
Might be a boating code that we should have known.
Like, you should be on one side of the river.
What do you think, bro?
It's going to get bumpy, though, lads.
Get ready.
Wow, that just looks intimidating.
I'm not going to lie.
Bunch of wrenches, bro.
Did nobody else?
Was that just...
Whenever we get an obstacle,
there's always one that adds the shit.
I'm really taking the hit there.
I'm sitting in like half a foot of water,
and now I'm drenched.
We've got ourselves a lache challenge
over the river we've stopped for.
Spotted it from the boats.
We've got to shimmy over, get to this one here,
and then it's like a medium.
Oh, my word.
What a spot.
Mate, that don't look deep.
That's nice, bro.
Just a little head bonk.
It's nice to have a little stop.
Get off the boat, stretch your legs, stretch your arms.
At this stage, it feels weird to walk on land again.
Yeah, it did.
Yeah, that's like trying to warm up on the walk over.
Well, my legs feel weird.
Yeah.
It's nice, like, rare to find a lache over water, so...
It's such a rare spot.
Yeah.
Right, re-entering.
Clean entries, lads.
All right, we're all in.
We're exiting.
That was our first successful sort of disembarking,
re-embarking situation.
Toby's hopefully got a rig here that can let us go.
Releasing.
Released.
We're off into the ocean.
Nice.
Back on the, what's it, Danube?
Danube.
We're all Danubes out here.
We're boating noobs on the Danubes.
We're boating noobs on the Danube.
We've still not left Vienna yet, let's be honest.
We found a camping, well, Ben found a camping place
and it was like 18 kilometers away.
And yeah, like you said, we haven't left Vienna yet.
Like, I don't know, maybe we have like...
Maybe we've done 5k.
Maybe we've done 6.
It's so hard to tell.
But basically, we want to end day one there.
Pitch up the boats, pitch up tents, sleep there,
wake up the next morning.
Yeah, we actually got to get cracking.
7.30 as well, so...
7.30?
Yeah, yeah, it's going to get dark.
We have kind of left this too late.
I think we're going to be sailing in the dark for some of it.
I'd love to see that if I was having dinner by a river.
That would crack me up.
That means have fun.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Callum, your German is fire, dog.
Hello!
We're going to Bulgaria!
We did bring a puncture repair kit, didn't we?
No.
Yeah, I think we got one.
To get through three days of...
With no puncture.
Somebody's getting a puncture.
Yeah, surely.
Why would you not go?
Yeah, what else are they going to do?
We're going to Holland!
Wrong river.
Wait, what's he trying to say?
Whoa, wait, whoa, whoa.
What are you trying to say, bro?
Now, the wake is going to be huge, boys.
Oh...
Brace.
Oh, my...
Oh...
Come on, come on, come on.
Yes, come on!
Come on!
Weather the storm!
Oh...
Away from the other side!
No, we're good, we're good.
We're good.
Come on!
Oh, my f***ing God.
That s***ed me up.
I was like, when you were like,
oh, my God, guys, I turned around.
No, yeah, like, I wasn't joking.
That was terrifying to see.
Literally, my heart is like...
When I saw that around the corner,
I was like, we're done.
So that's what the guys meant by
they got capsized by the wave.
I actually thought that was us out for the count.
You know what happened there?
We started to enjoy it too much.
It's like, any time you feel completely relaxed,
it will come back and slap us in the face.
So how often do they come?
Because that was...
That was a lot.
They don't just drive into a bunch of lorries,
like, that just doesn't happen.
No, no.
Yeah, they wouldn't be allowed.
That was horrible, like,
you could see underneath the boat,
which made it even worse.
And it looked like it was coming back towards...
I was like, genuinely, for a moment,
I was like, I might have to dive out.
Depending on the next 10 seconds.
But is that even better though?
Like, as in if it was going to hit us?
Yeah, I mean...
Yeah.
Mate, when Drew was first reacting,
did you not see it?
It was coming straight at us.
Like, so far.
It wasn't...
It was like, yeah.
If it was just dealing with the wave,
he could have been chilling,
but f***ing Christ.
No, it was like, when seeing it in the first moment,
just like a speeding catamaran,
that was like,
most of the width of the f***ing...
Most of the width of the f***ing channel.
I thought we were going straight underneath that,
getting sucked up, churned up.
What?
English?
Was he trying to warn us of another danger?
When we're bracing for the wake,
he was just looking to the side and saying,
oh my God, we're getting f***ed here.
We can surf that s***.
That was like, at a point,
like, overhead height, those waves.
Actually, your one was smaller than that,
but you got fully...
It's just timing?
Yeah, it's...
My thing hit it at the wrong time,
and I got drenched.
Yeah, like, it was just a bad little schlock
that kind of just went...
Genuinely so scared then.
It's like, from the time I've actually seen,
hearing that it's about coming,
and seeing it, and it being there,
and then we were just in these crazy waves.
It was like, so intense.
I'm surprised that we didn't get completely drenched,
or capsized, or anything.
Did you get wet in that moment?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And now I'm sitting in lots of water.
Same for you, sir?
Okay, no, they did get drenched down the other end, I think.
What, Sash, did you get drenched as well?
I got a bit, yeah.
I'm sitting in water now.
I mean, considering how f***ing hectic that was,
I think we got off all right.
Like, I'll take a wet bum.
Like, that's fine.
I thought we were all getting capsized then.
That is nuts.
That's just been totally normal,
but that surprised the s*** out of me.
That was going 10 times faster
than I thought any boat would go.
Seeing those big waves,
it's like, what is going to happen?
Like, it seemed to level
where we were going to get capsized, for sure,
but I thought at one point
we were going to go under that boat.
Like, you could see right underneath it,
and I was like, that's coming straight for us.
Yeah.
Six out of ten, you reckon?
I mean, actually, no, true.
Like, from the first,
from seeing it come towards us.
I'm thinking, like, the biggest freight boat of all time,
like, coming through the...
Do you know what I mean?
It's like...
When a freight boat isn't going to move as fast as that,
I think it was the speed that was so terrible.
We're so slow, and it was just, like, zooming at us.
You were like, wait, what was that?
And then suddenly, it was just there.
It's like, wait, wait!
And then it was just suddenly...
Impressed?
So, we're just discussing
meat grinder or catamaran, basically.
We've successfully travelled...
My catamaran is next level.
I'm giving that an eight out of ten.
Gnarlyness.
Can we just clarify that the meat grinder
was entirely imaginary?
Yeah, true.
Catamaran is very real.
There is a meat grinder on this one, though.
What's a catamaran?
I'd rather deal with the catamaran.
Probability factor high.
This meat grinder's inevitable,
but if you get in it, you're done.
If you get in it, you're done.
A meat grinder attached to a catamaran.
Oh, they do exist around here.
I heard they do.
It's an Austrian special.
Now it seems like city life's over,
and we're back to the lone river.
We should have enjoyed the human contact
while we had it.
Now we just love each other.
We're friends forever.
The sun is going down in about an hour.
We're probably...
And look to the map.
We're doing all right, to be fair.
I reckon we can do this
just before it gets dark, dark.
Just think of that boat in the dark,
like a big boat.
Pet, we need head torches.
I've got one on me.
What's happening here?
I'm going to be going forward.
Yeah, right.
Perfect.
And then if I pull myself over there...
Do I let go of that?
Spin him about.
Oh, shit.
Oh, my God.
Oh, shit.
I actually let you go.
Bigger the boat.
Oh, shit.
Quick, get him in.
Oh, shit.
I'm sorry, Max.
I'm so sorry, man.
We've got a photo.
That was obviously going to happen.
We've got a photo.
What happened?
It's the one fucking thing.
Not that one.
We got him.
We got my back.
That was sketch, Lloyds.
Hopefully, a catamaran doesn't come now.
Help, guys.
Wait, is that the right way around?
Yeah, I need to be attached to the bench.
Yeah, yeah.
This is all right, though.
I'll drag you out.
Okay.
It's like in gravity, guys.
The look on your face when you turn around and you're on your own in space.
How do I reverse?
Should we spin you around, Max?
Sure.
Do you want to?
Yeah, definitely.
We almost lost Max.
I'm quick.
What do I do now?
Oh, my goodness.
Right.
High action stations if we lose Josh out in space.
Pretty much everyone hold him and just spin him like a little disc.
Josh, you're spinning.
Catamaran.
Should I do that?
Should I turn myself around?
Now.
It's like when fighter jets refuel in the air.
30 seconds.
Oh, shit.
There's actually rocks.
Complete the clip.
Fuck.
Oh, we need to push, Max.
We need to push.
We need to...
Rocks.
Short rocks.
Throttle.
Oh, cleared them.
Catamaran.
Are you serious?
Oh, my God.
Wait, how do we do it?
My heart went to 120 instantly.
That's a 0.5.
Look at him.
He's closing his eyes.
Are we surfing the wake?
Oh, they're just slowing down for us.
How respectful of you.
You respectful Austrians.
Thank you.
Powerful little Yamaha 250 engine on that.
100 watts per XG.
Casual.
No, you actually have to surf.
0.5 out of 10 still got us.
That was so thoughtful.
Yeah.
He slowed down so hard.
Oh, no.
These chops are going to last for a good few knots.
Hold on if you can.
Oh, shit.
There we go.
Little choppy patch.
We are solid up here.
Yeah.
Oh, what a triple knot.
A trisector for the middle part.
Middle trisector.
And get it on yours as well.
Oh, yeah.
That would be good.
That's the trisector.
What is our life?
That is very good.
Well, that's...
We're actually...
This is pretty much a boat now.
That one.
We could switch boats and it'd be fun.
We're good at this.
We're really good at learning on the go.
Yeah.
That's what kind of what we've done.
We've had no preparation period of this.
The last little bit of Vienna city that we're leaving behind
and going forward after this next section.
I guess a lot more nature before we hit Bratislava.
Are you confident with this?
You did it before.
Benj called it when he was out of the boat.
Oh.
So catching it is the only weird part.
Oh, God.
The blades are just going to pop the boats.
That's my premonition.
So we've literally just left Vienna city
and we're already being tracked by an otter.
Oh, my God.
This is tricky.
Oh.
Maybe go forward.
Stay still and then just get lower.
Yeah.
So that...
Yeah, like lower it now.
Or are we just going to float past it?
Yeah.
A little bit more.
No, this is actually scary.
That hits one of our boats.
Yeah.
Leave it there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, Toby.
That was good.
Oh, shit.
Nice dick, mate.
Technical.
I think it really didn't want to come down.
It's consistent, don't you think?
I've never done that before.
All right, we just found out we've got 6km left to the camping spot.
And it's sunset.
Whoa.
And we've got...
Josh, Josh, Josh, Josh.
Serious beaver seeds in the bush.
Oh, my God.
Get your phone out.
Five times.
He's going for a swim.
Bye.
Wow.
Good spot, Toby.
It was so dark.
Was it because you saw the bush moving?
The tail.
Yeah, that's cool.
It's a wonder if that is what we saw earlier, though.
Yeah.
They looked smaller, didn't they, than that?
It's getting dark.
It's still absolutely drenched in the back and bottom of this.
Yeah, the underside is still so wet.
From the catamaran prank.
I can't even remember.
It might have been getting in the beginning, you know.
Yeah, we're fine.
We're chill, we're chill.
We don't...
Oh, my God.
The traffic on that river.
What is going on?
No, no, we do.
We can just keep going on the right.
It's fine, it's fine.
It's fine.
If we stick to this side of the river, we're fine.
What are those lines in the sky?
What the hell?
That's...
What the...
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You can't see much, but we're trying to cross the wide, massive part of the Danube.
Now we've come out of our canal and into the main section of the river.
We're trying to cross it, but there's boats, there's massive ferries moving across.
It's like pitch black.
We don't have a light.
It's kind of stupid.
The fact that it's 10 p.m.
We're in silence crossing the river.
I'm scared that there's another boat that's going to come.
While there's f***ing lightning going, there's another element to it.
Canal, we just avoided death.
It's so casual.
Yeah, that is normal.
That is f***ing bad.
That's f***ing huge.
What did we do then?
Like, why didn't we just get on the ferry?
In that bit over there.
Come on, back, back pedal now.
Back pedal.
Let's go, boys.
Keep going, keep going.
It's so bad if we get sucked under that.
I'm heading towards a ship!
