In this video we're going to take a look at the different ways we can use our chromatic aberration
filter. We're just using a single layer image that we're going to apply the filter to. Now let's go
into adjustments and find chromatic aberration. We can choose between a layer filter and a pencil
filter. To start with let's choose layer. We're not targeting a selected area of our image so
this filter will apply to the entire layer. Our first mode we have selected is perspective. With
perspective we can slide left and right to adjust the amount of aberration and we can drag around
this vanishing point to decide where the filter effect will radiate outward from. At the bottom
we have a slider to control the falloff distance of the effect from the vanishing point and another
that controls the sharpness in transition of that falloff. Our next mode at the bottom is displace.
With this mode we can drag freely around to change the direction and the amount of aberration.
Along the bottom we can edit the amount of blur and the transparency of the effect. While we're
using a filter if we tap on the canvas we get controls to preview, apply the filter, undo, reset
or cancel the filter completely. So we'll cancel this and we'll have a look at using chromatic
aberration as a pencil filter. First off we can see that our primary tool icons have changed
somewhat. This indicates that we're actively using a pencil filter. The purpose of this is that we
can use any brush in our library to paint, smudge or erase the effects of our filter. We're using
perspective mode so let's drag across to increase the effect and just start painting our filter.
Using a pencil filter allows us to apply a filter in very targeted ways and we can continue editing
our filter's effects while we do so. We can commit our filter and continue working in a few ways. We
can tap to uncheck the adjustments button, we can tap the canvas, bring up our menu and then choose
apply or if we're using a pencil filter we can long hold on any of the primary tools.
