Wow, this house sure is messy. I don't know where to start.
Looks like you haven't cleaned in a while. Do you know what to do first?
Household chores are tasks that we do to keep our home clean, organized, and comfortable.
Just like you have responsibilities at school, there are jobs that need to be done at home too.
Yikes, I don't even know where to start.
That's okay, I can help. Let's think about it room by room.
There are different chores to be done in each room of your house or apartment.
Let's think about the chores that have to be done in the living room, bedroom, kitchen,
and bathroom. The living room has chores like vacuuming, dusting, organizing, sweeping,
and wiping surfaces. Since this is a room you may share with others, it can get messy pretty quickly.
The bedroom has chores like making the bed, vacuuming, organizing, changing sheets,
and doing laundry. If you put away your belongings at the end of each day,
you won't have too many bedroom chores pile up. The kitchen has chores like washing dishes,
cleaning out the fridge, unloading the dishwasher, wiping surfaces, and cleaning appliances.
If you share a kitchen with others, it helps to split these chores up. Certain kitchen chores
need to be done daily. The bathroom has chores like cleaning the toilet, wiping surfaces,
changing towels, refilling toilet paper, and cleaning the sink and tub. If many people use
the same bathroom, it will need to be cleaned more often. And remember that you should always
clean it before any guests come to your house, as the bathroom is full of germs.
There are some basic cleaning chores that you might do in any room of the house,
like sweeping, dusting, wiping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and mopping.
That's a lot of cleaning to do, but how do I know what to do?
Well, there are different types of cleaning. If a room is mainly messy but not dirty, then all we
need to do is tidy. Tidying is picking up and organizing our things to make our space neat
and clean. If part of a room has not been scrubbed and cleaned in a while, it may need deep cleaning.
We deep clean so that we aren't touching germs and inhaling mold, dirt, and dust.
So, what should I do first?
It helps to set a schedule or daily routine so that you know each day what you need to do.
For example, you could split your chores with another person you live with.
Maybe you clean the bathroom on Mondays, and they vacuum the living room on Fridays.
I see. So, I should make a routine.
Definitely. Just like how we have a schedule for school and work,
a routine for chores helps us know when to do different tasks like cleaning,
organizing, and cooking. If you live with others,
you can even make a chore chart and work together as a team.
Wow. All right. So, wanna move in?
Not really, but I will help you out today. Let's start with the kitchen.
