Welcome back to our favorite place in Vietnam Hoi An and guys We've just had the craziest day and honestly, we can't even really make sense of it right now Yeah, I experienced It's episode 8 of this wild adventure through Vietnam as we travel the length of the country today Definitely started out slow and progressively got more unpredictable as the day went on In the last vlog we talked about the people of Vietnam really making this adventure something special and today more than ever that could not be more true It's very small, but it has a profound meaning Today's the day we have been looking forward to as soon as we saw the itinerary if I'm honest and it's not just because we're Back in Hoi An we obviously love it I'm sure well, I hope you've seen some of our other videos when we stopped in here a bit earlier about a week ago We've kind of lost track of time and today is all about noodles We don't know the story yet, but I'm excited to learn but we know we like noodles and I'm excited to eat some noodles But we're not just going to any old noodle restaurant Something we love about G Adventures tours is the included activities called G for good because these things are like so rewarding Yeah, we've done a couple of them in the past actually in South America. We did one in Peru We went to a woman's weaving co-op And then we also did one in Bolivia where we went to this amazing accommodation on the salt flats We share the story a lot more in our Peru and salt flat vlogs because we got to see firsthand the impact on those communities So I'll link those vlogs below but basically what that means for today is there must be a very special reason we're going there We're taking these awesome golf carts. You don't have to walk And also my favorite spot is always right at the back it just feels like way faster There's a bit more this feels more like a carnival ride just have to walk back here through the rubbish bins and then jump on The back here. Oh, yeah That's the spot Noodles are about to hit the spot too. Oh, yeah kalau noodles This is already so much fun. I'm loving it already We literally walked in the first thing we did was got some drinks and then we got the ultimate like hyper Nice to meet you Everyone, I hope you are having fun on the tour of Vietnam And learning all about our culture and history We would like to say thank you so much to G Adventure and their foundation Planetsara Who has been a great partner to strengthen and help us in putting together this noodles experience for us Then Mai took us through the different types of Vietnamese noodles because there is quite a few And then we got to make the decision. Do we want to make a kind of a meat dish? Oh, there's a few vegetarians as well. So there's some options there And then we got to watch a video that kind of explained the whole story behind oodles of noodles and What the trainees are provided with like it's like a 14 month course They get living expenses. They get taught English health care They're providing out-of-school orphaned and disadvantaged youth a life-changing opportunity to transition away from poverty on the streets One of the girls was telling us I don't know who my parents were I needed to learn English and then this is the program that I got into with the goal of working in Hospitality so like four or five star hotels in order to be able to fund Her trip back to her orphanage and be able to help out there. It's something I can appreciate. They've got a mad setup here We've got that top-down camera. Oh, yeah, I feel like we're watching a telly show I hope you watch properly because we just saw a demonstration and we are about to make our own rice batter. Kath nailed it No pressure. I don't think we're gonna nail it We're gonna steam it into a noodle. So lid off, put my coconut ladle Spreading it out Now count down in Vietnamese This is the big moment the one we've all been waiting for The transition Delicious so much flavor Thank you so much Thank you So now we're cycling from here to visit one of the famous local family who making the tofu pudding The second stop we visit a cafe vegetable village and the last one that's in a coconut village. You good? Yes, I just learned about our first stop. Okay, hit me Okay, so this is a local family and they are famous for producing tofu pudding. So That's a no from me As you walk in you'll see like these soybeans laid out that are like drying out and then yeah, we're gonna try tofu pudding Tofu's not sweet enough to be a pudding, but everything in this country is sweet. So Yeah, you take a drizzle in some condensed milk put a little bit of caramel bit of peanuts and you've you've got it Oh soybeans here. Okay. I've never ever seen a tool like that before Well, it feels like a game Okay, thank you sir We're getting that we get in the private lesson here from the master Oh this side, oh Look at that technique hand over hand It's very hot, but you still come here to visit my shop and my name is Too Too? It's more water to help get the flowers Yeah, that's why the people they bring the water to the rice field And this is the second harvest you can see the rice it change to a bit yellow Yeah, so it's gonna take around One more month to harvest. Okay, the cool thing about this, right? So this is private land Sorry, I was looking at the screen This is a massive plot of land and there is multiple families hundreds of families I'm imagining each have their own individual plots and all they do is they just look after their one area They're allowed to plant whatever they want Exactly right some of it is for home use but often they're actually coming here They're planting and then they're taking it to the central markets where they can then sell it to either other people other tourists or other Vietnamese families Lots of snakes Only in rainy season and I doubt they're gonna get us, right? Look at that village So Stace, are we spinning? We're spinning, of course we're spinning I'm excited, this is gonna be fun This is oh wow, we almost hit man down This is legit something that we have wanted to do for I mean, honestly about eight years Seen the funny like memes of this happening to people. I just don't want to end up as one of them You're gonna be in there. No, no, I shouldn't say that in case we actually are. They're pretty basic They're pretty basic Good luck Spinning spinning Smile Heavy boy We didn't pick the rain Although Dane said today, oh it hasn't rained as much as I thought it would And I said Dane don't say that And now it's thundering It spins good man, I wasn't expecting Wow That was faster than I thought it was gonna be What is happening The fun stopped real quick Music off, back to business They legit brought a speaker out Put it on the road and started playing Gangnam style So that we could all have a little party Then the music stopped and they left Now we're going on a cruise That's a beast Must have some big muscles under there No word of a lie That was about three times faster In terms of it's rotation than I thought it was gonna be I couldn't see straight for a minute afterwards But that was so fun My tea almost came up I think Mr. Hai knows something that we don't We just turned off our phones Because there was so much thunder and lightning Really close by That was the loudest crackling I've heard in a lot of years So we turned our phones off In case we get electrocuted He turned it off and looked at us This isn't how I thought the day would go I'm really hoping that I can catch a crab But This wasn't on my bingo card either There's heaps of crabs out here apparently Apparently I think it's a race back To get in some shelter This is absolutely hectic It's garbage Oh my god My bum's wet We're soaking wet It's a nice wet butt babe I'm pleased we saved the food till afterwards Because that would have come straight back up If we did that amount of spins Oh my god That was hectic man Look at this One thing that is amazing in Vietnam Look at that watermelon It's so juicy And then we're going to be having some Vietnamese pancakes So I think that's the rice paper Put the crispy in there Bit of texture as well It's a win Vietnamese rice pancake Sorry I'm drunk now Rice wine Vietnamese happy water I think a few people around here Had some happy water already We have some local beer Up to possibly one of the most random days of our life I think we deserve this Cheers Basically just got a little 20 minute cruise 25 minutes Oh yeah Beautiful It's been such a good day Thanks for hanging out with us Hope you enjoyed We're nearing the end of this Vietnam adventure But there's apparently still a few surprises in store For our last couple of stops And some luxury as well So we'll see you in the next video
