Today we are going to talk about a very french thing.
What is le goûter?
Le goûter is snack time, typically for children after school.
So it happens at 4.30 in the afternoon, 16h30 and until around 5, 5.30 maximum really.
Le goûter usually involves des pâtisseries,
ou du chocolat, du Nutella, des biscuits.
Why do french children have le goûter?
French children have le goûter to keep them going.
They come home from school and they'll have a snack, le goûter.
And it's always sweet.
It's always sweet and it most of the time always includes chocolat.
And they have the goûter to keep them going afterwards.
They'll have their homework, les devoirs, and maybe activities, sports or music.
And they usually don't have dinner until 8pm, 20h.
Usually french families have dinner all together and very often in front of
le journal de 20h which is the french news.
So basically children come home from school and they'll have a piece of baguette.
The most basic goûter for children is usually a piece of baguette with a couple of pieces
of chocolat inside, like bars of chocolat inside.
This is the traditional goûter.
But today they put Nutella or they have biscuits or other things, you know.
But as I said it's always sweet.
It is recommended for adults to take a goûter as well because le goûter avoids
les fringales and avoids having large dinners which is healthier.
So it is recommended for adults to have le goûter too.
This was a little bit of information on what is le goûter.
I hope this was interesting.
