Longxing Temple in Xinjiang, Shanxi, China was first built in the Tang Dynasty and was originally named Biluo Temple.
In the first year of Emperor Gaozong of Tang's Xianheng reign (670 AD), it was renamed Longxing Temple.
Emperor Taizu of Song, Zhao Kuangyin, lived here and changed the temple into a palace. Later, monks occupied it and restored the name of Longxing Temple.
Longxing Temple in Xinjiang faces south. There are Guan Gong Hall and Niangniang Hall on the left and right of the main hall; there is a mountain gate on the left, and there are Weituo Building and three west wing rooms in front. There is a thirteen-story Longxing Pagoda behind the hall.
The main hall is five bays wide and three bays deep, with a single-eaved hanging mountain top and a double-down ridge. It is a relic of the Yuan Dynasty. There is a Buddhist altar in the back groove of the hall, with nine colored sculptures of the Three Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
The Longxing Temple Pagoda faces south and is adjacent to the main hall. It was built in the Tang Dynasty. It was originally eight levels high. It collapsed in the 49th year of Qianlong (1784) and was rebuilt. The outer skin was covered with blue bricks and increased to 13 levels, with a height of 42.4 meters. The plan is octagonal, with each side 4.3 meters long. It is a pavilion-style brick tower.
