This Mindset Shift Guarantees A Great Date (Matthew Hussey, Get The Guy)

Question, do you ever get nervous before a first date?
Or any date for that matter?
Because what I'm about to tell you in this video, I think is going to reduce your nerves
by 20 to 30 percent.
Maybe 40 percent.
See, I was boxing the other day with my trainer, Mr. Martin Snow.
Many of you know him from a previous video we've done, and I was throwing combinations
of punches.
He was saying, all right, throw one, two, hook, and I'd throw one, two, hook.
And he said to me at that moment, stop.
He said, you're trying to throw every punch perfectly.
You're trying to have the best form you've ever had on every combination.
And that's making you tighten up, and it's not allowing you to just let your hands go.
He said, understand this, you can't throw the punches wrong because they're yours.
Every combination is a snowflake.
The moment he said that, I took off my gloves, I ran to get my phone, and I wrote down the
message for this video.
I immediately thought of all the women out there who are about to go on a date and are
overthinking it.
They're thinking too much about how they want the date to go perfectly, rehearsing it in
their mind.
Men do this too, by the way.
I did this for such a long time.
Before I'd go on a date, I'd think where I was going to sit and how I was going to create
the perfect venue, not too busy, not too quiet, what it was going to be like every step of
the way.
I'd create pressure in my mind to have the perfect date.
You don't have to have a perfect date.
Stop trying to create a diamond out of a first date.
Don't make your first date a diamond.
Make it a snowflake.
Snowflakes are unique.
Snowflakes have imperfections, but they're beautiful anyway.
If you do this, you'll take all of the pressure off of trying to create a perfect date.
You're allowing yourself to take risks.
You're giving yourself the freedom to play, to try some of my techniques, to try some
of the lines that I give you, to have some fun with it.
When you're trying to make it perfect, that's when you never take any risks.
That's when a date becomes clinical and stagnant because you're trying not to put a foot wrong.
When you're trying not to put a foot wrong, you get really, really boring.
We all do.
The only way to get out there and be exciting and be spontaneous is to understand that it's
okay if the date isn't perfect.
It's okay if there's awkward moments.
It's okay if there's a little bit of embarrassment here and there.
Do me a favor.
Save this video and play it before every date you go on from now on so that you can unshackle
yourself from the manacles of perfection that stop us from really being ourselves, from
being spontaneous, and enjoying the moments that we have with other people.
I will see you next week.
