Stunning Wild Camping Trip | Amazing Cloud Inversion.

Overnight wild camping trip with an amazing cloud inversion among the highest mountain peaks in Scotland.

Cloud, or temperature inversions in Scotland are a thick layer of mist clinging to the ground. If you are lucky enough to be standing on a hill when this happens you can be treated to incredible vista of a sea of cloud, with island-like mountain tops rising out from the mist.

On this trip I was also lucky enough to see my first ever Brocken Spectre which was named after the German mountain on which it was first noted.

When an observer stands on a hill which is partially enveloped in mist and in such a position that their shadow is thrown on to the mist, they may get the illusion that the shadow is a person seen dimly through the mist.

The illusion is that this person or 'spectre' is gigantic and at a considerable distance away from them.
