The sun rose over the savannah.
Golden light touched the tall acacia trees.
The air was fresh and cool.
A baby giraffe, Kiko, lay on the soft ground.
He had just been born.
His eyes blinked open.
The world was big and bright.
Kiko wobbled on his long, skinny legs.
He wanted to stand up.
He tried and tried, but he kept falling.
His mother, Abini, watched patiently.
She nudged him gently with her nose.
Finally, Kiko found his balance.
He stood tall on wobbly legs.
Abini nuzzled him softly, her eyes full of love.
Kiko looked around.
Everything was new.
The grass was green and tall.
The acacia trees reached for the sky.
Birds sang in the branches.
Zebras grazed in the distance.
Kiko felt a thrill of excitement.
This was his home.
A large shadow fell over Kiko.
He looked up.
A huge bird circled overhead.
Kiko felt a flicker of fear.
He pressed close to his mother.
Abini spread her long legs, shielding him.
The big bird flew away.
Abini stretched her long neck to reach the leaves high in the trees.
Kiko watched her.
He tried to copy her.
He stretched his neck and reached for the leaves.
He wasn't tall enough yet.
Abini chuckled softly and brought the leaves down to him.
The sun began to set.
The sky turned a fiery orange.
It was time to go.
Abini started walking.
Kiko followed closely behind.
Stay close, Abini said gently.
The world is big and can be dangerous, little one.
But with me by your side, you have nothing to fear.
Kiko listened to his mother's soothing voice.
The warmth of her presence a comfort in the vast savannah.
He was just beginning to understand the world around him.
A world filled with wonder, beauty, and the need for caution.
But as long as he had his mother by his side,
he knew he would be safe, learning and growing with each passing day.
