Pete Alonso hits game-winning homer to avoid elimination, a breakdown

the Brewers need three more outs to win and Advance the Mets are down two runs it's an elimination game oh my God the stakes are high this breakdown is brought to you by shop. jboy media.com we got a bunch of merch you can buy especially if you're a Mets fan and feeling good now watch this Devin Williams is nasty for the Brewers this is his fast ball that's outside Gary kind of wanted it now this is his change up which is his devastating pitch got so much movement on it this is the two of them synced up and when you don't know what's coming that's really tough but watch them side by side okay now watch this and sometimes little things tell you what's coming look at the shape of the glove his hand on the left side the fast ball it's deeper in the glove on the right side the change up his hands further up so you can see the the hand to the end of the glove there's more in the fast ball the other side there's less you could also look at glove to chin and it's closer on one farther on the other there's a lot of differences and these aren't the differences the the hitters might be seeing but these are differences which means from their perspective there's something they can pick up if you still don't see it look at that okay now you can see the red one is higher the green one is flatter that is enough for Big League hitters to know what's coming and that is what's going on here so you have this pitch to Lindor that's a fast ball okay because you can tell by the shape of the glove that is a change up it was way flatter like this this guy is so worried because his team is about to lose oh my goodness he's so worried if only he knew what they knew which is that they know okay another fast ball out of the zone and now look at that that hands deep in the glove that's a fast ball two2 another one fast ball yep fouled back Lindor staying with it okay that hand is deep in the glove probably another fast ball yep and that's a walk so lindor's on he did not go nice call by Blue yeah yeah the crowd rang him up but he didn't okay that's a change up ooh and he was hunting the change up swinging miss that looks like another change up to me yes he's swinging at the chain J up and looks like another chain up up there hands a little higher in the glove gloves a little farther from the chin and that one's outside so the count goes one and two that is a fast ball that hand is deep in there high fast ball tried to chase it didn't strikes out they're dancing they're cheering won't last long all right so this is why it's different if you're wondering why is this happening when he goes to the change up he needs to wrap his hands three hands fingers wrap his fingers around the ball so he kind of needs room between the ball and the glove so he's kind of digging and wrapping which leads to the separation you can see that happening here where you see his hands moving and he's digging and he's wrapping and that ends up him closing his hand uh because he doesn't want to lift it up so he's changing the shape of it and you can see him come out with the three fingers there so that's a change up oh he's hunting change up he's like yes that's what I like okay the hand is coming up the glove is getting flatter that is another change up and he wants that o and two he's going change up again and his timing is perfect there sends that one into the Outfield the Mets got some stuff going on look at this just sat back and got it O2 change up and he knew it was coming and he went and got it so now Pete Alonzo comes up and this guy looks like he's telling a little something looks like like that's the change up when that something something and Pete's like okay I got you I got you yeah so over oh yeah okay all right gotcha maybe that was a little tip maybe not I'm not positive all I know is Pete comes up and he says oh that is a change up and he takes it he doesn't want to hit the change up that was right down the middle let's see Pete's getting ready yeah bring me the fast ball buddy oh there it is see how deep his hand is in the glove because his there he doesn't need to wrap his fingers around the ball and you see how close that glove is to his chin all the stuff I mentioned at the beginning it's a fast ball Pete knows it he wanted to but it's not there he's not going to chase uhoh getting nervous does she know that they know that know that's another fast ball look how deep the hand is in the glove you can see it's it's it's there's it's more rounded it's not as flat it's close to his face uh that's another fast ball but he misses again okay uh there we go that's a change up the hand is higher in the glove the glove is further away from his face right there it's like below the the the vline on his on his jersey and Pete takes that the whole way doesn't even really track it just kind of takes it the whole way now it's 3-1 he's got to be in the zone and look out that glove is flat that hand is not buried in the glove he's wrapping his fingers around it it gets farther away from his chin right there Pete says bring it on and he lets it come to him all over it smoke FES it bullpen catcher going nuts Pete hits it and right away yeah yeah let's fing go oh no oh my God yes hey nice job hey nice job to you hey hey nice job job to you hey nice job to the three of I told you what did I tell you I told you if he does this then that's the change up and you said okay okay okay and then you hit it that was me bam right away a polar bear scream from The Polar Bear comes up hey oh you gotta love that just happiness for
