Today I have 12 tips on how to ensure that you look younger when doing your makeup.
Tip number one is hydration and that is hydration on the inside and on the outside,
so ensure that you're drinking plenty of water. I'm going to start with my moisturizer.
Really important when you're doing your moisturizer to ensure that you get your neck
and your décolletage as well. Your décolletage can really show that you're aging. You know we
Now I'm going to also go in with some eye cream. Really, really nice. This is a hydrating eye
cream and I'm popping it on my eyelids as well and underneath. So instantly my face is starting
to look fresher and brighter and that's just adding some hydration to the skin and really
I would also use a lip balm or here I just use the residual eye cream and just really make sure
my lips are hydrated as well because they tend to you know when they start looking dry that can be
quite aging as well. So that is tip number one hydration. Tip number two would be sunscreen.
So again, sunscreen your entire face, ears, neck and décolletage and also make sure you get the
Sunscreen that I'm using today is called Airy Day. It is an SPF of 50 and it is an Australian brand.
Beautiful sunscreen. This one is their skin screen which is a little more shiny than say
their mineral mousse. So my preference is to use the mineral mousse. It looks to be a slight tint
of color there. There isn't really as you can see that just blends in and it does soak into
your skin quite well but I do feel it's still quite tacky for me. Once again, their mineral
mousse is my favorite. Tip number three for me would be less is best. Okay, so more foundation
just means more foundation. Stick to the more creamy products. These look more hydrating and
Today I'm just going to use the bare. Now this isn't bare, this is sorry a CC complexion primer.
So it's more of a primer with a slight tint but I'm going to use this because I feel like this
just lets the skin seep through. Again that does look more useful. I'm just going to place it on
my face with my fingers for now and then I'll use a brush. So as you can see there's a slight tint
of color to this primer and just what it says is it's just a complexion perfecting. So you can see
it just really evens out my complexion a little bit. It's really nice and neutral. I make sure I
get just under my eyes but it's not too heavy. So you can see my cheeks are still peeking through
but again it gives you a really nice skin look without looking too heavy. So I love the creamy
products because they do look more youthful. I've done the neck as well. I'd also place it
on my eyelids. So we want to keep this look easy as well like not so many steps.
So that primer also helps to just mattify the skin back a little bit so it's not so
shiny from the sunscreen. So the next tip, like I was saying, not too many powders.
I know we do have to set this and we will do that at the very end with a minimal amount of powder.
The other thing we need to do is bronzer or contour, something to warm up the skin.
We tend to use sometimes foundations that are too light and if you use them too light that
is quite aging. So if they're nice and warm on the skin that is sort of, again,
give you that nice healthy glow or youthful glow so to speak. I'm going to use the Emko Beauty.
This is a contour wand. I actually quite like this wand and I'm just going to place it like
framing my forehead there, placing this high. So we used to contour down through here. As you can
see that's where my cheekbone is, just under there from the tip of the ear down to the mouth.
By doing that, that is quite low. I would suggest going up a little bit higher. Okay,
so as we age we really want to create lift. So we just want to lift the face.
The same on the other side. I'm just making sure it's a bit higher than it normally is.
These are great but they are messy as you can see. Then our jawline. So I feel
when we age we start to get what we call or what some women call the jowls.
And it is, it's just gravity taking its place and it does tend to sort of move down through here. So
I like to just make sure that I'm giving them a bit of a contour again to sort of create that
illusion of lift. So that's what I would do on the face. Then just taking the same brush as I
used for my foundation, I'm just going to buff that into the face and really give myself that nice
warm frame of the face. Now even though I'm showing these tips to try and look more youthful,
I am proud that I'm, you know, 48 years of age. It is a privilege to age and I feel it is also
nice to have these little tips and tricks to make you feel really good and youthful. So just
really warming up the face there. So that's just been buffed in and I've just used the
foundation brush. Next we're going to use some sort of highlighting techniques. So I'm just
using a little concealer. This one is the L'Oreal. It's just the first one I grabbed. It's called
the Perfect Match and it's 3N. It's a beige shade and we're just going to light some areas to bring
them, bring them forward. So I don't have too dark circles under my eyes, but I do like to just
lighten a little bit in the inner corner and a little bit on my outer corner as well. And you'll
see why when we sort of brush that in. So again, not using too much, not putting too much underneath
the eyes because underneath here, this is where it'll sit in my wrinkles. So I really don't want
to put product there for it to just sit in my wrinkles. I also want to just really bring this
forehead out a little bit. Just run a small amount down my nose again to bring that forward. I do get
a little bit red through here, through the nose and down the chin. So again, there's sort of that
lightening. So what we're trying to do is enhance our natural features. I will pop a little bit
through here and this creates that lift. So we really, as you keep hearing me say, that we just
want the lift because everything starts to come down and we just want to get that illusion that
it's all sinking up. So for the small areas, I'm just using a more detailed brush. Now, like I said,
I just want this in that inner corner, not too much under the eye. I'm just putting like the residual.
This will just help bring that out. And then here, along here. So, so far we don't have anything on
the eyes, but already let's help to just really lift that area. Down the nose, just in the middle
of the forehead there. Again, we're not using too much product, okay? So my number one thing is,
you know, the more product there is just means there's more product. So that means there's more
product to sit in your fine lines and your wrinkles and to really accumulate where you don't
necessarily want it or need it. So just popping it through here. And if you've got deep crevice
lines through here, you could run a little bit through there as well. And then just blending
this out as you can see, making sure it's not visible. So again, it sort of really helps to
enhance the eyes and create that lift. What I would also do is put this tiny amount just up
under the brows, like speaking of lift, and really just a dot there and here, because this will help
bring the brows up as well. It'll give the illusion, especially once we comb them, it'll give
the illusion that they are lifted as well. I'm really working that in. So speaking about the
brows, if you do nothing at all with them, or you don't want to put any color or you don't need to,
just the one thing I would say you should do is just brush them, just brush them up and out.
Sorry about that. That's what I would recommend. So if I didn't brush mine and I just left them,
see how this one's a little bit lower, but if I haven't just left them kind of,
you know, messy or I've opened up, not that they generally look like that, but look what it's done
to my face. You know, it really has changed my face. I've got hardly any color through here.
It's all fluffy and thick. So just brushing them up is a really good start. Up and out to get that
lift. So with your brows, my number one rule would be don't mess with them too much, you know,
and don't follow the trends. Follow your face. We all have different face shapes,
different facial features, different brows and different types of brows will suit different
people. So you really need to work out what suits your face and your face shape. So mine are sort of,
you know, this one, you know, is a little bit different. It's a little bit lower than the other
one. I find if I brush them up and out, that is all we really need. And I'll put a tiny amount of
color in that too. Okay. This is the Fill and Set by M Coat Beauty. Just another product I happen to
have at hand. Generally, I will always fill in the outer tail of my brow first because that's what's
disappearing. And then I just do a small amount in here. I don't particularly like it too dark
in this inner corner because it just can make you look like you're frowning. And again, that is quite
aging. So if they're too dark, they can be quite harsh and quite aging. So just really have a look
at what color you're choosing and don't overdo it. So start off lightly and just see how that looks.
I always just do the outer corner and then I just have a look to see if there's a small amount
needs on that inner eye. And I do give it a quick comb through. That's your brows.
My next tip is all about defining the eyes. So as we age, our eyes do start to get a little bit
lower. They start to hood a bit more. Now, normally, mine are like this, yeah? So they
aren't like this. So when I'm doing my makeup, my expression is wider. So it does appear that
they are lifted. So I tend to do a lot of that, which does lift up my eyes. But naturally,
they do have a little bit of a downturn here, and that's just age. That's just normal.
So one of the tricks that I love to do is to really have everything on the face sort of like
similar colors, similar shades. You have it really cohesive. So what I've found,
these Lip and Cheek Tints by St. Rene's are quite neat for that. So I've been using them
like on my entire face. Now, this particular shade is called Aquedulce, and I'm probably
saying this wrong, but that's what it's called. And what I'm going to do is I'm going to place
this on my eyes. So in a lot of my other videos, I'm using different colors and different shades,
but that's for different specific looks. Naturally for me, I quite often like to just
use that one shade because if we are using different shades, they can tend to mix into
one another. We have these creases and folds on our eyes. It can get quite difficult,
and that can be quite aging as well. So I've chosen this shade, and I'm going to place it
on my eye. And I've chosen this one because it does complement blue eyes. So instantly,
my eye is starting to pop out. So choose a color that's going to complement most of the
earthy tones do suit most eye shades. This isn't too dark, so it's not closing my eye
off and making it look heavier. However, if I just left it like this, you can see it's not
doing much for opening up my eyes. So what I am going to do is find a brush and one that doesn't
have a dark shadow on. Luckily, I have a million more brushes. So I'm just going for a brush that's
set it a little bit fluffy, one that I can move that product around a bit. So what we're going
to do is I want to move it up into that crease. So that's that crease that we've got. I really
want to push this product up into this crease. And I know it's tacky, so we will set this. But
for now, this is a really nice quick way of getting some shape and some sort of dimension
to this eye very fast. I'm just pushing it up and I'm pushing it up onto that brow bone. So
really working it up here just to help lift up the eye. So even though we've lost some of the
brightness of that color, the eye is a lot more lifted. So the eye is a lot more lifted. So same
on the other side. Same on this side here. I did have a lash stuck on my eyelid. I'm just sweeping
it through that socket line, pushing it up onto that brow bone to create that lift. That really
helps to lift the eye up. Now I'm going to stay with the eyes and what we're going to want to do
is define that crease. So I'm just using, this is the Maybelline, it's the City Bronzer. I'm just
using this because it's here that I have the bronzer at hand. It's nice and easy. And I'm
going to use this on my cheeks as well, on my contouring as well. So I'm just putting some of
that powder, again, exactly where we ran that brush before, just into the crease and up onto
that brow bone to give that, you know, to set that product and give it just a little bit more
definition, help bring it up and out. So again, lifting the face. So important to create lift.
And how easy is that? You know, it's just one shade to create the lift. Then I would place a small amount
of that and just run it underneath because we don't want to have two darker colors underneath.
And this is the look you're going for. We are talking about trying to make ourselves look
younger. If it's too dark underneath, it's really going to pull your eyes down. So we just want to,
again, give the illusion that the eyes are bigger without dragging them down. I'll use that same
powder and just follow, because we have it out, I'm just going to follow those lines.
We've done that creamy color. Just follow it over the top. So, you know, earlier saying, you know,
we're not setting, we're keeping it creamy, but this contouring powder will help to set
that creamy powder that we did earlier. Okay, so I'm pretty sure I'm up to tip number 10,
but forgive me if I have lost my train of thought. There are so many little tips that I want to
sort of keep giving. Now, instead of using a black eyeliner, now black is great for going out,
it's great for that added drama, but as you get more mature, it can be quite harsh on our eyes
and, again, drag them down. So I would opt for a chocolate eyeliner, and this one that I have
here is by Rumi Cosmetics. And what I would start by doing is placing it on the tight line. So up
here, if this makes any sense, it's very difficult to do using this mirror, I mean using the camera
as a mirror, I would place it right up just on that outer quarter to create the weight on that
lash line. So already it looks like the lashes are a little bit more defined and it's lifted
them up. Same on the other side. So a lot of my videos, you'll see me using a chocolate brown
liner. It is my favorite. I do find it is a lot more forgiving as we mature. So, and because it
is on that tight line, this is a waterproof one, so it shouldn't transfer too much on the bottom
line, but if it does, that's not a bad thing. Now, what I would like to do is on the top,
keeping it really, really close to your lash line, like literally in the lashes,
and then I always do a tiny little flick. Again, this is optional, but it does help to bring
those eyes up a little bit as well. Same on this side. Trying to do this video for you in
real time as opposed to fast forwarding like I normally do. I feel quite nice to see
how easy this can be done. So let's do chocolate brown. Another great way to open up the eyes is
to really curl those lashes if you wish, and you can use a lash curler for that. I am super lazy.
It is not something that I would do in my routine, to be completely honest with you. So I'm going to
use the mascara and I tend to place it right on the roots and I do blink down and up. So by doing
that, I feel I'm giving it a little bit of a curl, possibly not as good as a curler. And this is where
you can do your lash lifts. However, the lash lifts I have noticed can be quite curly, almost
too curly. Just recoding that one. It's good to have a couple of coats. I would stare clear
of lash extensions. One, they are not great for your lashes. And two, they do tend to make your
eyes look heavy and quite often they'll do the same length all the way through, which tends to
drag the eye down. So it's like, it's counterproductive to looking more youthful. We want lift in our face,
so we need everything to be curled up. So same on the side, I'm having a little bit of volume and mascara.
Place it and push down. And make sure you do, you know, do those couple of coats to get that
really good coverage. With your bottom lashes, you can either just leave them. I tend to just like to
do the roots. So it looks like I'm doing nothing, but I just want to do the roots just to show that
there's lashes there. I don't necessarily feel I need to cover them because they can kind of
Another trick to really open up the eyes is to place a little bit of light, like this is a sort
of shimmer. You can use white or you can use this sort of color, which is more of a highlighter. It's
more of a nude shade. This particular one is called the Duo. As you can see, I've used it quite a bit.
It's got two ends. So one's more matte and one's shiny. My matte one needs to sharpen, so we'll
use the shiny one. Sorry, I just had to mute my computer. So this is the shiny one. So I want to
place this in what we call the waterline. Now you could just go for the first quarter of it in the
corner. I quite like bringing it all the way along. And then I also add a little bit of highlight
in there as well. This helps to bring the eyes out. So what we're trying to do is really bring
forth all the good parts and send back the bits that we're not so keen on. So really use your
highlighter to your advantage. There's things that you really like to bring out. This really helps
focus straight on your eyes.
So that's that little highlight. And the highlighter that I do want to use on my face,
this one is by Bobbi Brown. It's quite cute. I think I picked it because of the packaging
more than anything, but it is sweet. It's really nice. So I'm just going to, I'm not being picky
with what shade I'm going to swirl my brush in. And just I'm really going to touch the
tops of those cheekbones there. I just want this to be subtle. So we want that little bit of
glow to the nose. A little bit of glow there. And then if you like, you can grab a more detailed
brush and just get that light colour and just really emphasise this little inner part of the
eye there. That really just helps, again, to bring that forward. I'm sure that was tip number
10. I have two more tips. The next tip or the second to last tip is blush. So don't be afraid
of blush. Like I find, you know, and I especially find women like myself who've had like a little
bit of rosacea, you can see my cheeks popping through. So I don't probably need too much blush,
it's good because blush does make you look more youthful. And if you find that you are very rosy,
steer towards more of the sort of peachy toned blushes. They will help to sort of keep that
redness at bay. I do find when you're really rosy cheeked and you go towards like pink,
it's almost like the cheeks know that you've gone pink and they get like purple. So that's
what I find. I'm going to use that same shade, that lip and cheek colour that we used on the
eyes. I'm going to place this on the cheeks. Now again, we want lift. So do the two finger rule
and we want to go from here. So I'm just going straight, this isn't mine, so I can go straight
from here and just do a dot. So same on the other side.
Doesn't really matter too much. So blush is great, we want to keep this high as well.
So you see where my cheeks then, you don't want to go down to here because
up here, that's where your cheek is. If you're too low, you'll end up too close to your mouth.
I keep it up nice and high. Using the foundation brush, I'm just pushing that into my skin,
into that highlighter, into where we contoured, bringing residual around the temple. I love that
sort of soft look and this just brings it all in together. Same on the other side. So just pressing
it in. I'm not dragging it because I've pretty much popped that colour where I want it. So I'm
going to press that in and then use the residual to bring it around the face. If you like, blush
is just really personal. You can never have too much really. It does make you look more youthful
and fresh. You can really bring it right up near. You can bring that colour out and you can really
sort of join the two, should you wish, and you can even dot it around over your nose.
So that's your blush. Okay, so this is tip number 12. Now, I think I've lied to you because I feel
like I have one more after this. Anyway, we're going to line the lips. So once again, as we
get older, the lip line becomes not so defined. Lipstick can tend to bleed into our skin and you
can see that the definition of the line is really not there on my lips. Also, we can end up with a
bit of a downturn in that mouth. So you just have to be careful. You've got to look at what your
lip shape is. My best advice to make them look a little bit fuller but not over-exaggerate them
is to start in the middle, to keep the spine. I know I've done this once before. Start in the
middle and kind of get rid of that bow because we want to create a fuller lip. You can see where
the highlighter is sitting. And just go straight across. Okay, so this liner is a very neutral
shade. I'm just working that in. I'm just using the camera as a mirror so I may have this a little
more straight across. And then I like to colour a little bit more of the lip in.
And then I don't over-line through here. I just follow my lip. And I know
my lip does turn down a bit. And I sort of stop here, which seems weird. Sorry, I'm trying to
talk. I can do that. Just before we get there. And colour in ever so slightly so that when we're
putting the colour in there, we don't have to really be too careful about getting it so close
to the edge. Same on the bottom. See how I'm just over-lining just ever so slightly, not too much.
Like I'm under the lip line. And then I'm going to come back onto the lip line
and fill in that little bit, but not all the way to that corner.
Probably could have been a whole video.
So you can see instantly my lips look a little bit fuller, not so black. Now I'm using the
same shade that we used on our cheeks. And this is my lipstick, so I'm not going to use a brush.
And instantly, that gives that little bit of like contouring around the lips and definition.
So I really love this trick. And also, so now we've got the same colour on our eyes,
our cheeks and our lips, and it looks really together and cohesive. So the last two steps
that I'm going to do, and this is just, this can be optional. You could just leave this here,
be really, really happy with what you've done and just leave it as is. But I do like to place
a very small amount of powder. I shy away from powder products. They do sit into the
fine lines and wrinkles. However, you do need a small amount just so that it doesn't move.
So what we're going to use, this is the Young Bird. This is a pressed mineral powder. It's
a rice setting powder. This is what I would recommend, this or a translucent. Laura Mercier
does a really great translucent. It's a really beautiful, finely milled powders, and that's what
you want. And you're just going to take your brush and you're just going to press it underneath.
And not too heavy. We just want a little bit to take away that excess oil, but not to make it
look cakey. Same. Sorry, you know, I haven't got a lot of product on today. You can still see that
little dot on my nose, which I'm just going to live with it. Same down here. Just make sure
any of those little places, I probably shine that top lip just a bit much. Same here. So I'm just
really going over where we need to. I don't need to powder that entire face because I've already
done that contour powder through here. So that's already done. And now the last little thing we're
going to do is the cheeks. This has to be one of my favorite shades for cheeks. So yes, I know we've
got that color there and you can leave it as is. By all means, please don't feel you have to do this
extra step. This is called Nectar by Youngblood, and it's a nice peachy shade. So this is really
good. It's great for the blue eyes. And as you can see, it's going to look really good all together.
So I'm just going to take this brush here because I have one out. And I'm going to tap it in and
take a small amount of this product here and just enhance what I've done on those apples.
So it's just given that little bit of extra glow, which really helps to frame the face and just
bring it all together really sun-kissed. I would also take this product. This is really
pushing my, I think I said 12, did I say 12 tips? Anyway, I think we've got 14 now. However,
this is all to make you look a little bit more youthful without overdoing the makeup.
This is the same blush. We're just going to run that through that socket line ever so softly.
Again, pulling it out on this outer corner, almost joining, you know, joining this blush here
because this is what's going to create that lift. So see how that's just softened that eye line a
little bit more and makes it look like you know how to blend really well and just pulling it out.
So I really hope that this has helped sort of just to simplify your makeup a little bit,
give you some little tricks and tips to give yourself that youthful glow and enjoy being
the age that you are, but being able to sort of present yourself
as fresh as possible. So I'd love to know your thoughts. I'd love to know what looks you'd like
to see in the future. And if this has been helpful, please let me know. But yeah, and also
I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has subscribed over this past year. I really only
started working on this channel May of last year, so I feel that's May 23. So I feel it has grown
and I really would like to thank you for that because it's just given me the confidence
to keep going and to keep producing some more videos for you. So thank you.
