Good morning, rise and shine. Welcome to my little weekend getaway. I'm near Kangaroo Valley,
just about two hours south of Sydney. And, oh well, technically I think this is Emeru Valley.
And I'm really just here to enjoy a little bit of nature. Just a little vlog of like a really
relaxing weekend getaway. So, come with me. We're gonna go explore the property.
No cute little buggy. Visita.
I'm gonna go touch the cows. Reminds me of when I went to holidays in Germany.
So, he's um, he's the biggest but the most gentle. So, you can do anything to him.
You like the brush, don't you? So, he used to, we hand-fed him because his mum rejected him.
So, that's why he's our only male that we keep. He's a big boy, huh? Yeah, he's a big boy. He's
a big boy now. I love the little, yeah, his horns aren't that real. They're just like really.
Here comes Andy.
That's our house.
Many.
Hey guys, that's the wombat hole. You can see the cute little paw,
paw prints. Mr. Wombat, I think they are nocturnal.
Alrighty, so this morning we took the little buggy to go on a tour of the whole property. So,
there's two lovely gentlemen that own the property and they've done everything over
here. The cabins, they're building their own house. Even the roads, they've built everything.
As you can see, one of them is a landscaper. So, they do all the gardens themselves as well. So,
everything that you see, like I think, I think they've even done the fencing, everything. So,
that's really, really impressive. And yeah, they took us on a little tour on the buggies,
which was so much fun, but it obviously scares off all the animals when we're coming with that.
We then came back. I've had a little bath with a beautiful view. I'm super relaxed,
but I want to see some wildlife. Now, I know that usually the kangaroos and all of them,
they're kind of, they come out at sunset, dusk, dawn, dusk. I think dusk it is. It's not quite
sunset yet, but the sun is going to disappear behind this mountain over there,
like this little hill over there. And it's going to rain soon-ish, I think. So, I thought,
let's walk around the property a little bit. Now, we should probably take the thing for the wind
in a sec. All the cow ---- just reminds me of holidays at the Black Forest,
where I went every year as a child. These mountains over there, and they're nicely
illuminated at sunset. I don't think we're going to get sunset today. I think it's going to rain
before that happens. Surely, there's going to be some wildlife here. Come on. That's pretty funky.
These ferns and stag horns just everywhere. For a place called Kangaroo Valley, there's
not many freaking kangaroos, is there? Guys, that's a wombat. Oh my God, it's a Mr. Wombat.
It looks so sleepy. I don't want to get too close. Oh, so cute. It looked a little bit sleepy. It
looked like it slept all day and just woke up and then it saw me. So, it looked a little bit
like confused. Understandably. It's like, what is this silly boy doing here?
Now, I also think that the kangaroos over here are smaller, right? Like, I mean, there's heaps
of different kinds of kangaroos and wallabies and whatnot. I don't think over here you've got
the really big ones. I think over here, because it's more mountainous, it would be like the smaller
like bush kangaroos or rock wallabies, I think, which makes them a little harder to spot.
But that's okay. We will try. Let's venture out to the other side. So, we're going back down to
where we went with the buggy. Is it even called buggy? I don't know. But you know what I mean.
And they taught themselves everything. Like, how to be... Like, they're not farmers. They're city boys.
They used to live in Sydney. And I think one... Well, obviously, one is a landscaper. The other
one is a professional photographer and I think worked for Channel 7 back in the days. And they
just made this their passion project, kind of, which is really cool, right? And they taught themselves
everything about farming. They have cows now. They have a tractor. They built or they built the cabins
themselves. They're now building their house themselves. I mean, obviously, I think they have
some help from some sort of contractor and so on. But they do the majority of stuff themselves,
which is pretty cool, right? There's kangaroos there. I guess I'm actually still really, really
far away. I just zoomed in with my lens and they're still so tiny on screen.
Yeah, they're very alert, obviously. Which is actually surprising because they don't
really have natural predators in Australia, at least not to my knowledge.
Let's see if we find some more. Down there, that's Kangaroo Valley.
Okay, it's starting to rain, which is not good because I've got my camera set up at the cabin
to do a little time lapse and it's not waterproof. So, I'm going to head home
because also, I think in the rain, the kangaroos aren't kangarooing.
The bees are buzzing. Crazy how loud the bees are.
Anyway, good morning. We had a really nice dinner last night over here. So, we're here for
Tim's birthday with a couple of friends of ours and they also know a local caterer. So,
we pre-ordered everything and they just delivered the food yesterday and then we just had to reheat
it for dinner and it was so yummy and easy and we can just have it in our cabin or house or whatever.
I think cabin under sells it. It's very nice. So, that was really nice. As always, I was the first
to fall asleep and I'm the first to be awake. I think yesterday I was up like a good two hours
before anybody else. It's funny, my housemate and I are always joking about it because it's
the same at home. I always fall asleep first at night but I'm up much earlier. So, we always call
it I'm the morning shift, she's the night shift. I've been cleaning this morning already. I've been
doing the dishes and everything in classic morning shift fashion. Yeah, it's very foggy,
kind of a bit rainy, overcast, kind of mysterious. I think it looks a bit better in real life than it
looks on camera. I think on camera it just looks white behind me. But yeah, we are heading back
to Sydney today but on the way, I would love to stop by Fitzroy Falls which is I think just on
the way, like literally on the way. We both passed it. So, I think it's maybe like five, six kilometers
from here and maybe go for a little walk over there, show you that. And then we might go to
Barrel. It's the worst name for a f***ing town. Barrel. Barrel. Barrel. We might head into Barrel
which is the closest town over here and maybe hit the shops. It's kind of super cute and like
boutique over there. So, I think it's kind of like the place where like Sydney's high society
goes when they want to go to like the highlands of mountain retreat.
I like the mountains. Anyway, I will see you later. Actually, change of plans. I thought
let's maybe explore after all.
Oh, by the way, I saw I think three wombats last night as well. They are nocturnal. So,
at night time they just, I think they just come out to eat grass. Do they just eat grass?
I think so. One was sitting in our backyard like right near the lavender that you saw earlier.
But yeah, it's hard to film at night and also I didn't want to bother the cute little wombat.
But yeah, very happy. Feeling one with nature. I mean this kind of looks cool around.
Kind of mysterious and the sun breaking through. I'm just hoping that we're so early that we might
see some kangaroos. So, we're heading back through there and I'm just really desperately trying to
not fall. This is where we drove up yesterday with the buggy. It doesn't look that steep on
camera but it felt crazy. I saw the kangaroos but they didn't like me again. But how magical
does it look over there? Oh my god, look at this mountain coming out of nowhere. That looks crazy.
What is that? I can't see it with my naked eye. I think maybe on camera I'll be able to identify it.
Maybe it's a wombat. Oh, it's a kangaroo. Don't worry buddy. Can you see it? The brown thing in
the middle? Yeah, don't worry buddy. Let's stay away. I have you zoomed in as much as I can
and it still looks tiny. Hey, this one looks different to the others and this one is like
all by itself. Sorry, buddy. They're off quickly when they want to. Can you see the mountains
peeking through there? I can't see it on the viewfinder but it's crazy when the mountains
peek through. I earlier complained about how the mountains aren't really high but
when you're right in front of them they're still high. They're just not like mountains, you know.
Now we can see the mountain boy. Yes, I said quiet. We don't want to scare them.
Suppose they're less scared of the bird than they are of me. It's jumping down there. Do you see that?
There. That one was also by itself. It was loud, huh? The way it was jumping. I think I didn't get
it on camera. I think I was a bit too slow. How pretty, huh? It's crazy. When we went to Adelaide
together there were kangaroos there as well and they were so close to me and they weren't scared
at all. These ones are like more alert and super scared of me and there's no reason. I'm their
friend but they don't know that. Wow, look at that. Wow, so nice. So nice. This is where I should do my
morning yoga and apparently there are platypus in this river and David Attenbauer filmed a special
on platypus in this river. Not this particular spot but further along the river. But platypus
are super super hard to spot. The guys that own this property and been here for I don't know how
long they've actually been here for but I mean you've seen how much they built. It's been a while.
He said he saw two in his life over here. There. They're so well camouflaged when they're not moving.
You don't need to be scared. So cute, huh?
I think the kangaroos and wallabies have told all of their friends that I'm here so they've left
and I need to climb up that bloody mountain. Well, it's not a mountain. You know what I mean.
That steep hill. So I'll see you at the top.
Where is it? I love how they account for the trees. They build around the tree instead of
killing the tree, you know. That's nice of them. Look, here they are.
Oh, wow. Let's have a look. Looks very much like the Blue Mountains, huh?
Oh, wow. Oh, ----. It's right there. I'm not scared of heights but this makes me...
Look at that. Maybe that's the river we saw earlier this morning.
But we really need to go there. There's like a little
viewing platform there and then we can actually see the waterfall because I think we're a bit
too close now. Alrighty, so that was Fitzroy Falls. If you're ever in the area, it's super
quick and convenient. There's a car park and it's like a 500 meter walk and it's quite accessible
as well. So that made it really easy for us to see that beautiful waterfall. There's no
crazy hiking involved but I think you can do hiking if you want to. Anyway, I'll wrap it up
because we're just going to head to Bowell for lunch and then we'll head back to Sydney. I hope
you guys enjoyed this more of a laxing vlog. Not all too much happened but it was kind of precisely
the point. I was just enjoying nature, enjoying peace and quiet. If you haven't already, I would
really appreciate if you subscribe to my channel, give this video a thumbs up, leave a nice comment
down below and I'll see you next time. Bye.
