About Robert Downey Jr: Robert Downey Jr. is a two-time Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner, best known to fans as the handsome, charismatic and witty star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's trilogy of Iron Man films, which are credited with breathing much-needed new life into Marvel's film projects and with launching the hugely profitable Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He continued his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Avengers series of films from Marvel Studios/Disney, and his Tony Stark character also appears in Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War and in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming from Sony Pictures, with appearances yet to come in the MCU's Avengers: Infinity War and an as-yet-untitled fourth Avengers movie. Downey - known as ""RDJ"" to his worldwide fan base -- has also starred in famous blockbuster films such as Tropic Thunder and Due Date as well as in the Sherlock Holmes film series.
Downey's other recent films include The Judge (2014), the first feature film produced by Team Downey, the company launched by Downey and his wife, producer Susan Downey. ""The Judge"" landed a supporting-actor Oscar nomination for Robert Duvall, a significant accomplishment for Downey's new production company. Downey also starred with Zach Galifianakis in the popular comedy Due Date, directed by Todd Phillips; in The Soloist opposite Jamie Foxx; and also in Charlie Bartlett; David Fincher's Zodiac alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Ruffalo; Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly with Keanu Reaves, Winona Ryder, and Woody Harrelson; and in Fur opposite Nicole Kidman. Downey's brilliant, wordy starring role in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, a twisty, comedic spoof on film noir written and directed by Shane Black, is often cited by critics as an under-seen masterpiece.
Downey also shared in a SAG Award nomination as a member of the ensemble cast of George Clooney's Good Night, and Good Luck, and in a Special Jury Prize for the cast of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, presented at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.
Downey's long list of film credits also includes Gothika with Halle Berry; The Singing Detective; Curtis Hanson's Wonder Boys with Michael Douglas; U.S. Marshals with Tommy Lee Jones; The Gingerbread Man, directed by Robert Altman; Two Girls and a Guy; Mike Figgis's One Night Stand, Jodie Foster's Home for the Holidays; a ""modern"" production of Shakespeare's Richard III starring Sir Ian McKellen and Annette Bening; Natural Born Killers, directed by Oliver Stone; and Altman's Short Cuts, as part of an ensemble cast that won a special Golden Globe Award for Best Ensemble.
Earlier in his career, Downey starred in such films as Heart and Souls; Restoration with Sam Neill, Sir Ian McKellen and Meg Ryan; Only You with Marisa Tomei; Soapdish; Air America with Mel Gibson; Chances Are; True Believer; Johnny Be Good; a memorable and indelible turn as a doomed drug addict in Less Than Zero; The Pickup Artist; Back to School; and fan favorite Weird Science, among many others. The VERY young RDJ made his film debut at the age of five in Pound, under the direction of his father, the noted underground filmmaker Robert Downey Sr. As a child, he and his sister Allyson appeared in several of their father's experimental, absurdist underground movies, along with their mother, actress Elsie Downey.
On the small screen, Downey made his prime time debut in 2001 when he joined the cast of the Fox TV series Ally McBeal playing the role of attorney Larry Paul. He won the Golden Globe for best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for Television, as well as the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Actor in a Series. In addition, Downey was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Downey was also a member of the Saturday Night Live ensemble comedy cast for the 1985-1986 season." #film#entertainment#RobertDowneyjr#actor
Sometimes they're on tour.
I am Iron Man.
It's crazy.
You are Iron Man.
Well, I'm not actually Iron Man.
I'm just me, sitting here.
Tune your cap.
It's still.
When I start thinking I'm Iron Man, it's trouble at home.
Hi there.
I've got a question for my son, who's 10 years old, for the Avengers.
He would like to know, before you start filming the movies, what's the thing you get most
excited about?
Probably my first costume fitting.
Me surrounded by many full-length mirrors.
A great job.
And we've all made good friends and stuff, you know?
You can be proud.
Yeah.
Now you guys can be proud.
But to answer your question, you know, Evans is a very, very capable guy.
I mean, you know, chicks dig him, too.
Miss Foster, please know how much I love and respect you, regardless of what may transpire
in the next several minutes.
But you know, when I get my haircut...
I got my haircut the other day.
I got my haircut right before the show.
Right before the show.
I got my hair in the front row.
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
It's been 15 minutes.
It's my last order of change.
I'll be right back.
Jimmy.
When did you know that you wanted to be an actor?
Well, knowing is something that's very particular to the soul.
To know is to understand the question is already answered and it's asking.
No.
No?
No.
Tom doesn't.
But Robert, you do, right?
I...
I mean, I watch those movies.
I'm a consumer, first and foremost.
You've always said that, haven't you?
Yeah.
Yes.
Hot Lana.
Yeah.
In Atlanta.
Yeah.
Lovely Atlanta, Georgia.
Yeah.
And was it...
When you say Hot Lana, was that because it's hot or...
Hot, sticky.
Hot Lana in July.
You know, so you're in the fall.
It was beautiful.
I don't know what you're talking about.
I was...
I have.
I saw it about a month ago.
You did?
And what'd you think?
You know...
You know when you revise for an exam and you feel like you crushed it, but the longer
you wait for the results, the more you think you kind of...
He's British, by the way.
...ruined it.
I don't know anything about it.
I just...
I got them in the office and stuff like that, but I don't know.
It's just like...
It's just a desk and I don't know.
I guess I get millions of people...
It gets enough out of you.
When I...
Consternation.
You got a little bit of doubt.
Yeah.
I'm coming into the Marvel Universe.
Yeah, you did.
Why?
Because you'd done it before?
You'd been...
Well, no.
It was just...
It was a big commitment, you know.
These contracts are, you know, six, nine movies long and it's just...
He's not a guy who likes to be held down, ladies.
I have a photograph here.
Is this the first time you met Kareem Abdul-Jabbar?
And really, I only show it because it's funny.
I'm not kidding.
You know, the funny thing about that, I think he was actually kneeling in that picture.
I can only relate to someone so often when they're all gussied up, so I figure, you know.
But it was a great opportunity.
I'm not really here yet and there's a lot of people here.
Can you just all turn around for about a half an hour until I'm back in my body?
Excellent question, by the way.
What was it?
As they grow the universe, every new person they add to the fray never...
No one ever is out of place.
They always fit right in and feel like they've been there for years.
Speak for yourself.
Shut up.
Bitch.
Here's what I want to say.
You had to convince Chris to take the role of Captain America.
Was that difficult to talk him into that?
You know, this great...
In hindsight, I get to take credit for everything, right?
There's no Marvel Cinematic Universe without me.
Yeah, I did everything.
It's like you were like, ooh.
This is really nice.
I'm going to keep it simple.
I'm going to send you love and then I'm going to receive love.
So here's me sending it.
You get that?
All right, I'm ready to receive.
British actor.
You've seen him in other stuff before, but he is fantastic.
As an American, you were okay with a foreigner playing the role of Spider-Man.
Not really, no.
No, no.
Please tell me if this is true, that you had your furniture from home shipped to Atlanta
so you would have your own furniture while you were there.
I didn't do a thing.
The moving company did.
He did.
Here's the deal.
During filming, were you kind of up against each other as to who was working out the hardest
and who was the fittest?
Was there a bit of competition?
I mean, we've all made so many movies together now, so you kind of, to some degree, forget
the plot.
You know?
You go home and you're just friends.
We're friends.
Robert, do you feel like-
We'll giggle, chat, take pictures.
Nope.
I can't do that.
You meet Tony and he's actually doing, he's having some sort of, he's demonstrating a
type of technology, but you see him when he was like 20.
But it's so real, it freaked me out.
It freaked everything out.
You think it freaked me the heck out?
I mean, I was like, my God, he was beautiful.
What happened?
I don't know if an actress can do her best work until I've slept with her.
Julianne.
Hey, you had the big premiere right across the street last night.
Yes.
How did that go?
Did it go well?
Oh, you know, I think this thing might do okay.
It's a really, it's a really good one.
I know they're all good, but this one's really, really, really good.
Yeah, it really, it turned out, it's, we did a bang up job.
Do you like, what?
Or is there anything where you're like, can we do another take or, because it just seems
like you got it.
First of all, my dirty secret is I'm not actually all that good.
No, that's not true.
And I'm going to tell you why.
There's things that most people, it doesn't bother them.
Like, there's stuff that I bet, and look, you're an actor.
I hate opening doors and pretending that I'm.
And it's a little girl.
Do we know?
It is a girl.
Yeah.
Wow.
So fun.
Is this the first girl for you, right?
First girl.
I hope she wants to be an actress.
No, you don't.
You don't hope that at all.
Give me a break.
So stable.
You might even ride your sugar high.
After riding your sugar high all the way to a fitting.
It's in America?
One word for you to describe Iron Man and Iron Man to describe one word for Captain America.
Charismatic.
Make it count.
What do you got?
Turn my mic up.
Thank you.
If you start playing violins, I will tear this joint apart.
First of all, I'd like to thank Susan Downey for telling me that Matt Damon was going to
win, so don't bother to prepare a speech.
Did you change your number?
Did you change your phone number?
No, same number for 10 years, buddy.
One daughter.
Right.
How is it having a daughter?
Because she's your first daughter.
Yeah.
It's, you know, I mean, anyone, it's just so delicious and it's really different and
special.
And and, you know, as long as I can keep Exton from biting her or putting a pillow on her
head, we're going to be fine.
Why are you having that kind of thing in mind when you're playing this role this time?
I must be mellowing with age, but I want to say this very clearly.
The next time I'm not asked the first question.
OK, so no things flying at you at your will?
No.
Not even like a Diet Coke when you're thirsty?
I mean, it would be, you know, convenient.
Right.
But I also like opening refrigerators.
I find it soothing.
I think that might be in a press release tomorrow.
But what did you do?
What did you do for 50?
No, 65.
65.
All right.
So 15 years from now.
Yeah.
All right.
No, no.
Wait a minute.
What are we talking about?
60.
Yeah, you're right.
So what did you do?
We rented out an airplane hangar.
Wow.
And?
And then we paid the bill.
So I hear that they're they're looking to cast a new Spider-Man.
Yeah.
Who do we root for?
Captain America?
Iron Man or Spider-Man?
That's up to the people.
Big change in my life.
And big changes for you, too.
You turned 40 this year.
And I know that that's that's a.
That's what you want to talk about?
Well, yeah, a little bit.
What in the real world do you want to be able to just fly to you at your will?
Anything.
I have that.
Oh, is that Moschino?
Little extro here.
Oh, my gosh.
You are.
I'm going to say the shoes are Valentino.
Yes.
Incredible.
Yes.
I have to have all these items back by noon.
So what is it?
Star Power became kind of a hot ticket.
And like most things, the the guest list or invitee list to anything I do is really
up to my wife.
So you can't blame her right now.
She liked us.
She does like you.
I just blew it.
Well, first of all, and I should preface this by saying I'd stop smoking.
Oh, well, that'll be good for you.
Good that you did that.
I would say I stayed stopped.
I'd like to indicate what happened.
OK.
You walk.
I'm sorry.
Giggle.
Chat.
Take pictures.
Better years than others.
Anything significant maybe about this year?
Yeah.
It's the year of Robert Downey Jr.
This is it.
Avengers.
This is the thing.
And, you know, you know what?
It is very pleasant to be loved.
No, I'm not trying to creep anyone out.
But where's Emma?
More blue.
I think that I think that Stark is involved in the design of all of the Avengers garb.
Or so I was told at some story meeting.
I see.
OK.
Chaplin.
Yeah.
So I went back and learned how to play tennis left handed, to which everybody said.
Bring it.
Sixteen and pregnant on MTV or something because Aunt May was an old lady in the other movies.
I know.
She seemed ancient before.
Now she's Marisa Tomei.
He's got like he's got like a hot aunt.
Yeah.
My God.
Just think.
Think of the possibility.
Is it fair to say?
All right.
Let's try it one more time.
Two.
Three.
All right.
I have a winner.
It's me.
Two.
