Michael Jordan's Stories You've Never Heard!

Michael Jordan was a score first second and third. He was a phenomenal phenomenal finisher of the game Jordan pass Petrovich When it comes to Michael Jordan the stories are Legendary whether it's his iconic game winners the flu game or should we call it the food poisoning game or his? Unforgettable trash talk the tales of MJ's career are endless You got every NBA legend tell their own MJ stories But not all of Jordan's stories are widely known some of the most interesting moments Happened away from the bright lights of the NBA where his competitive nature Unmatched confidence and sometimes surprising decisions played out Here are five insane stories about Michael Jordan that you probably didn't know about Number one the time MJ didn't let LeBron play in a pickup game Let's kick things off with a story involving the only player who is often compared to Jordan LeBron James in 2003 LeBron was the hottest high school prospect in the country as a teenager He was already being called the chosen one and everyone knew he was going to be the number one pick in the NBA draft During this time LeBron was invited to a pickup game Organized by Michael Jordan for a young player like LeBron the chance to play with his idol was a dream come true But there was a catch MJ wouldn't let him play. That's right Jordan told LeBron that he couldn't join the game Why because Jordan was worried that LeBron might get hurt playing against seasoned NBA veterans who didn't take it easy Even in a casual setting Jordan knew that these games were ultra Competitive and the intensity was on par with an actual NBA game while MJ was looking out for LeBron's future Imagine the frustration LeBron must have felt being told to sit out and you know for me when I got the opportunity They didn't let me play for like the first hour You know Yeah, I'm sitting there just waiting my turn and to be honest I didn't even think I would even get the opportunity to play and the only reason I played is because the guys that was in The league, you know after a few, you know after hours some of them didn't get tired. They like, you know Here's the funny part the greatest competitor in basketball was telling someone not to compete This story is both a glimpse into Jordan's protective nature and a reminder of how LeBron Even as a phenom had to wait for his time to shine It also makes you wonder how epic would that game have been if LeBron had suited up and gone heads ahead with the go One things for sure Jordan's legacy of fiercely guarding his domain extended to the pickup court, too Number two the time MJ wore the number 12 jersey after his number 23 was stolen Everyone associates Michael Jordan with the number 23 It's one of the most iconic numbers in sports history But there was a brief moment when MJ didn't wear it on February 14th 1990 the Bulls were in Orlando to take on the magic Everything was going as planned until the team arrived at the arena and discovered that Jordan's number 23 Jersey had been stolen from the locker room The equipment staff searched high and low but couldn't find it anywhere with no time to get a replacement jersey The Bulls had to improvise they handed Jordan a nameless number 12 jersey, and that's what he wore for the game Can you imagine the surprise on fans faces when they saw MJ hit the court wearing a number? They'd never seen before even though it wasn't his usual 23 Jordan still played like well Michael Jordan He scored 49 points in that game almost as if to say it doesn't matter what number I'm wearing I'm still the best this bizarre incident became one of those Didn't really happen moments in NBA history the jersey theft remains unsolved adding a layer of mystery to the story they found out from security that one of their personnel had set up a plan to to get the jersey had Actually gone through another locker room climbed over the ceilings came through a ceiling tile Grabbed the jersey Put it back in the ceiling Planning for I guess a few days later to come back and get it after thinking No one would figure it out Whoever stole that jersey probably has a valuable piece of sports memorabilia Sitting in a hidden vault somewhere or maybe they just wanted to have a part of the legend Michael Jordan Either way the number 12 might not be as famous as 23, but on that night It was just as deadly number three the time MJ shattered a backboard in Italy Shattering a backboard is one of the most dramatic things a basketball player can do It's a rare sight even in the NBA believe it to Michael Jordan to do it overseas during an exhibition game in 1985 fresh off his rookie of the year campaign Jordan traveled to Italy to play in a Nike sponsored exhibition game Fans in Europe were eager to see the rising NBA star in action and Jordan didn't disappoint during the game Jordan drove to the basket soared through the air and unleashed a ferocious dunk that not only scored two points but also brought down the entire backboard the force of his dunk shattered the glass into a Thousand pieces sending shards flying across the court and leaving everyone stunned Jordan just walked away like it was no big deal, but the scene was unforgettable What makes this story even crazier is that Jordan wasn't just playing against random local players. He was facing professional European teams yet He still decided to show off his legendary hops the backboard shattering became an iconic moment And Jordan even kept one of the glass fragments as his souvenir Imagine being at that game in Italy watching MJ pull off a dunk that literally broke the game It's stories like this to prove Jordan was a global superstar long before the internet made viral moments a thing Number four the time MJ played a playoff game with a broken foot and didn't tell anyone Doctors had warned him that there was a 10% chance of re-injury that could end his career But Jordan took those odds and ran with them the result Jordan delivered one of the most iconic Performances in NBA history in game two He dropped 63 points on the Celtics still a playoff record to this day Larry Bird famously said after the game That was a Michael Jordan out there was God disguised as Michael Jordan the fact that Jordan was doing all of this while his foot Was still compromised makes the story even more legendary His mentality was simple if he could walk he could play for most athletes playing injured as part of the job But playing through a broken foot and putting up historic numbers is next-level stuff That's the kind of determination that separates the good from the great and the great from the greatest Number five the love of the game clause now this next one's surely interesting now If you're probably wondering what would MJ's contract look like the greatest of all time? Sure, it would have a large amount of zeros and probably tons of incentives befitting for his airness but what many of you didn't know is a clause in his contract the really mirrors the Personality and dedication of the one and only Michael Jordan He's MJ after all and he can demand whatever he wants in Chicago And one of them is a clause that a true baller needs the for the love of the game Contract clause this contract clause gave MJ the ultimate basketball freedom Jordan can play in exhibition games scrimmages or just a pickup game in a random park whenever you want it The only player that general manager Jerry Krause ever thought about giving this clause to it might sound absurd to imagine an NBA player Not being allowed to play basketball whenever they want, but it's a real concern every time a player steps on the court There's a risk of injury Which is why many leagues and teams impose strict limits on when and where their stars can play But those rules didn't apply to Michael Jordan and for good reason. Not only was he practically Indestructible rarely missing time due to injury, but his relentless passion for the game couldn't be contained by ordinary measures No one was going to tell Jordan when he could or couldn't play basketball He lived for it So in the span of his career MJ would play in random pickup games outside league if he's in vacation and decided he wanted He would play it was a basketball addiction with no cure and just added on why MJ was the Greatest to ever do it. These five stories. Give us a glimpse into Michael Jordan's world beyond the highlights and Championships, whether it's protecting LeBron scoring 49 points in a stolen jersey or having a ball or contract clause MJ's legacy isn't just about being the best.
