Nick Jonas on new film ‘The Good Half,’ parenting, 'Bluey,' more

We are back now with one of the biggest names in the showing off a different side of his range. Yes, Nick Jonas is of course a member of the multi platinum group Jonas brothers when he's not making music he's acting starring on both the big screen and the Broadway state. The next latest from is it's called the good half and plays a writer returning home for his mother's funeral navigating shall we say complicated family that you should also know he is forging some new relationships in the film along the way watch this. You're new to the city if you near. Restaurant recommend, I don't know. I never know how to now it was smooth. Nick Jonas good morning to you good morning, good to see you get to see guys thank you for being here so this film is directed by Robert Schwartzman a very talented actor and musician actually in his own right and it deals with issues like grief and loss, but also it's very funny film. How how do you how did you you know sort of balance that wave of emotions you to write, I'm sure when you made this film. I mean it's it's a a fun film, although it's in some pretty heavy topics and I think working with Robert really help with that and I go back almost 1516 years now. His band and Rooney Rooney open for me and my brothers are toward 2007. So you know seeing him now in this capacity as a filmmaker is just incredible and I think when you have that sort of shorthand with somebody. You can kind of get right into the heart of some of these is heavier scenes as well as you know working with the rest of this cast and some really brilliant actors who just brought so much to the film and the heartbeat of it. But it is you know be prepared to cry a little bit and laugh a little bit. I was I was telling it really quickly I was watching it while I was in the doctor's office. And I started I was laughing and then I started crying and then I caught myself because I said I recognize that people might think I got a bad diagnosis. So I like clean it up real quick really good. It's really kind of shows your range that this movie neck, but what what's also interesting I think that really shows your range is that in once you've got to do karaoke, but you have to do it badly. So how does a professional singer who's really good. This is the band I was most kind of stressed about filming because you know obviously my care does not supposed to be. I I am a singer so I sort of flip the script there. I think you know we're in a bar and the karaoke night I just thought about what would tipsy me trying to be like and just went for tipsy Nick. I think of music for folks who might not know this you and the brothers are out on tour. I mean yes, I mean not just a mini tour like a full-blown global tour. But the difference now between back in 2007, you just referenced you're all dads now all the Jones brothers are that was so what's touring like now versus touring back in the day. It looks very different, you know it's a look at that wow so amazing. Yeah, right, yeah, start of the tour last year at Yankee Stadium for 2 nights. Had you guys come out, I got to hang out with it was amazing to see it all behind the scenes that that was back in August and we we basically in August of December and we've been doing international all this year. And you know it's it's just beautiful we're we're just a bunch of dads who who obviously you know are very fortunate to still be doing what we're doing have support that we have and seeing that you know our families can be involved in some of these great life experiences. We're just so grateful and I mean to get to share moments like that and others with a lot of the people you love most while you're kind of continuing to live out your dream is pretty special. That's you your wife's Bianca Chopra and then your daughter Mel T now she's 2. Yeah, 2 and a half 2 and a half years old what kind of phase is she and now our blue. She's a big blue fan, she's Elmo with a big Elmo birthday. But we actually just went. She was shooting Australia right now and so multi Murray's with her there. I'll be going back about a week to do them, but we my last trip to we went to Seaworld and at the Seaworld you know theme park they also have like a pop troll show. Oh yeah, which I was dad of the year. We met pop troll. You should know if you're going to Australia, they're about to open a blue of the theme park in Australia. That is great news at the problem though is he's he's that kind of phases like you you're like behind every time yeah, I'm worried that I'm going to get all this blue stuff and then well they were gone.
