Today I wake up in the most beautiful place I think I've ever woken up, on top of a volcano with views out to Nicaragua and Honduras. Once again I receive some much kindness from the people I meet which brings me to one of the hardest things I encounter on the road... Watch and Enjoy to find out!
This place was the most beautiful place I have ever woken up.
Do you have the experience of going up?
Yes.
Ah, you have the experience of going up.
Or to put on a suit.
Ah, true, true.
Since I didn't win the...
Almost, almost.
But next time, let's hope you do go up.
Yes.
The dogs here are very, like...
Yes.
He is Galachin.
He is very friendly.
Friendly?
No, amigable.
Friendly.
Ah, amable is nice.
Amigable is friendly.
Ah, yes.
Super.
How long are you planning to stay here?
Maybe a month.
At least, yeah.
I better pack my things.
Yesterday they told me, we'll help you down.
I feel like I can totally make it down on my own.
But, I just...
I don't want to be a nuisance
if I drop the bike and they have to help me again.
You know?
Um...
I think I'm just going to take the help.
So, today's vlog is a simple one.
After the craziness of the last vlog,
I thought it'd be nice to show, well,
what goes down in the aftermath.
If you haven't seen the last vlog yet,
here's a quick recap.
The road up to this incredible place
was a bit rough.
I dropped the bike a few times,
and ultimately, my demise
was getting mentally and emotionally overwhelmed.
Not a good combo,
especially on a motorcycle.
And in my tumbles,
I managed to break my foot peg,
which brings me to today's task.
Find someone who can help me fix it.
But first,
I gotta get down the volcano.
And the owner of this place
insisted on bringing it down for me.
Him and his entire team
are so incredibly kind and gracious.
They just make your heart melt.
So nice.
I feel like a loser.
And then the luggage.
Thank you so much.
You don't have to worry about it.
I'd like to pay you for the transportation.
No.
I don't want it.
Yeah, maybe tip him five bucks or something.
Okay.
For me, no problem.
Thank you so much.
So, on my epic failure
of a ride up the volcano,
I damaged my foot peg.
You probably can't tell
on the camera,
but it's basically, like,
just now in the wrong direction.
It's just been,
I don't know what the word is,
damaged,
and it's, like, just turned on its side.
So, I've come to a local mechanic
and he's helping me.
So, the mechanic is in there
banging away, fixing, and doing
miraculous things.
I thought I'd show
basically my
pivot pegs.
They're steel.
And I think, I mean, basically
they just went completely crooked.
And I think he just needs to
bang it back.
I'm not really sure, but I just saw him
work with the brake
and he noticed something off
that I certainly didn't notice.
And I just feel
so grateful for the
ingenuity of mechanics.
It's like,
I rely on
their skill so much
because I look at that thing
and
cannot see
how to make it right.
Anyway, grateful for the help.
Sí, la calle está muy feo.
Bueno, pero
en la tierra
feo.
Porque
no tengo muy alto.
Pero también no tengo mucho técnico.
Técnica.
Técnica, no tengo mucha técnica.
Es mejor la otra, la bolsa.
Sí, sí, pero poco a poco cambiarme
cosas.
Sí, sí.
Sí, antes no
conozco
nadie. Pero
yo conocimos en la calle.
Es un poco como
suerte
que conocimos.
Coincidencia.
Está lista.
Como debo
asentar para
checarla.
Sí.
Muchas gracias.
Qué bueno.
Entonces, ¿sí?
¿Lista? Sí, ya.
Muchas gracias.
¿Cuánto?
¿Cuánto es?
No.
No, no. No necesito.
No.
Como porfa.
No, así está bien. No, no, no.
No, así está bien.
Sí, así está bien.
Muchas gracias.
No sé tu nombre.
Oscar.
Oscar, ok.
Exactamente, de Charlie.
Sí.
Oh, my God.
He was so incredibly great.
I'm back at the hostel.
And he would not accept
any payment
from me.
And he was just
such a good, thorough,
honest job of
helping me. And it's so wild
because in these situations
I'm just, I'm like,
I'm so grateful for the help
and the knowledge that I don't have
of anything
in this realm of
fixing stuff.
I want to
give him all my money
because I feel so
grateful.
And it's just
ironic that he doesn't want to accept
any money. I want to express
my appreciation
and give him something.
So yeah, I'm going to write him
a really nice review
to share with other motorcyclists.
And I just,
the amount of kindness
that
I encounter.
And I'm just always
in such awe of mechanics.
They are, like, literally the best
people on earth.
They're just so
resourceful and have such
a way of, like,
being able to look at things and know how to fix it.
Where I look at it and I have
no clue. So,
I'm so thankful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
So, we're back.
We're packing up and we're headed to the next spot.
This may sound weird,
but one of the
hardest things on my journey
is not
knowing how I can repay
the immense amount of
kindness that I receive.
For now,
I think the best I
can do is to continue
on, living with
an open heart, sharing
my love and appreciation,
and hope that
the blessings multiply.
