LEARN THE 'PAPER MATCH MYSTERY' MAGIC TRICK

For all of you who regularly check in to this here magic and mentalism channel looking for the real work on the impromptu, too, too, too, too much. Listen up because Jay Sankey about to break it down for clowns. What? I don't know. Look, here we go. Impromptu. Any book of matches. Grab it from a bar. Grab it from someone waddling by. Guys going by setting fire to the whole city. You say, hey, psychopath. Avant, and I mean before you go to jail, can you lend me a book of matches? Boom. No setup. Okay. You say, look, this is the power of fire. It's going to take a match from your own book. Strike the sucker. Okay. There's a little bent there. Watch, watch. I'm going to get it more than a little bent. Tear it in half. Just a little heat, little heat. It's like this. I'm going to try to put the two right back together. Now, not only is this a borrowed match and not only is there no setup whatsoever, but at the end, you can hand out this sucker to be closely examined. A little over a year ago, I posted this really sweet, a little illusion on the channel right here and got a whole bunch of positive comments. But I also got a bunch of comments from some of you saying I didn't quite understand it. That camera work wasn't as clear in this and that. And so I thought to myself, no way. I want to make sure you guys get this down. So I'm sharing again right here. I want to make sure we get all the video coverage so you can all learn this and be ready to freak people out. Like I said, totally ordinary book of matches. You are good to go. There's no prep and you can use any matches. It's not like you have some dupe you have to ring in or anything because you actually steal a duplicate match from the very beginning. Now, this match, this is a book of matches where there are none missing yet. And since I'm going to be using a duplicate secretly, essentially tearing out two matches, I don't want someone later on looking and seeing, hey, there's two matches missing, not just one. So when someone hands me a book of matches and it's brand new like this, I'll often say, I'm going to show you something crazy with this match. Well, maybe not that match. I think it's going to be with this one. Nah, maybe with this one. Nah. And then I go into it. So I've destroyed what's called destroying the evidence, making sure they can't backtrack. So having done that, I start by saying I'm going to tear out a match from the book. OK, and I'm going to like the match. And just like that, I've done 50% of the work for this trick. It all happens under the actions, natural actions. And here's what I'm doing. I'm reaching in and I'm grabbing my with my first finger. I reach in and I don't leave her out or tip out one match. But I actually tip out two matches, one beside the other. Then when I tear, I'm tearing both matches out. So I'm actually tearing two matches. OK, as I come over here and lift one match up, I also make sure to take a beat, grab the two heads, and this this other match here is going to get clipped between my first two fingers. I kind of clip them both and then tip one this one up here. So even though it looks like I've only got one match at my fingers, I actually have a second match already clipped between the first two fingers of my right hand. OK, I strike this match here. Excuse me. Here we go. The comedy of matches that don't light. And as I focus attention here, my right hand drops and I make sure everything is nicely clipped and comfortable in that hand. Then I come over and I'm going to change. I'm actually going to let this go out during the explanation here. The flame can go out. No big deal. But as I come over, I'm actually going to change the position of the two. I'm going to take this match and the first fingers and thumb of the right hand while I leave this other match here behind. But the illusion of apparently tearing the match in half is perfect. But this is one full match. Burnt. This is one full match. Head down. Unburnt for just a second. Then I bring them both back together. And when I bring them both back together, I reverse the actions. I'm going to clip the head of that between these two first fingers, clip the head while leaving that one in place. OK, then the right hand is just going to, with the clip match, drop to my side. I'm going to blow on that. And the moment I blow on that is when I often will drop this right down quietly to the carpet to the floor. Boom, it goes down. I blow on like this. I come up. I don't bring my hand up like this with that feeling of, well, it almost suggesting I just got rid of something. OK, instead, I come up with it still closed up a bit like this and then stretch that reveal. Slowly show my hands are absolutely empty and there's a little bit of heat left on this. I burn someone. You see, he opened up a new world for me so I can go past the ordinary and see things that I would never even think about.
