NRL 2024 | Storm v Panthers | Match Highlights

It's a battle worthy of a round one opener. Penrith kicking off, Melbourne receiving Friday night footy from Amy Park. And back comes Kamakamita. Warbrick feeds the scrum. Graham picks it up from the back. They're appealing for something here. Another number nine thinks he's refereeing the game. I think that was short the number in the scrum. At the scrum, boys. The scrum win. The ball goes to Cleary. He wraps around and then pushes through on the inside. Smart play. That's a really good play, isn't it? It was two inches from being perfect. There's no touch from Penrith. The ball is already dead when Nathan Cleary touches it. So the last touch is off Melbourne. The crowd building. They want to try before the break. It goes through the hands now. Pappenhauser, Nick Meaney will get over the line. Does he get the ball down? They think so. Pappy was fist pumping. So was Warbrick, but there was a lot of pink around that ball. Coming in to tackle five. I don't think he gets it down. Had no try. Just confirming that Nick Meaney fails to ground the ball, mate. He slides over and he actually turns over on his back. Does it graze? His head's out. The noggin's hit the stripe. It's an age-old rivalry, this one. The Premiers up against the Storm from one side to the other. Taylor May with explosive pace down the wing. May rolls it ahead. Sonny Luke's first touch is going to be a stride. The game. I think that may look like an obstruction here. Yeah, it was Lindsay Smith, Joey. Jerome Hughes makes the decision to come in to try and defend the play. However, Jerome Lewi catches the ball on the inside of the lead runner and then plays through, which affects Melbourne's defensive line as everyone has to then jam in. We have a decision here. They seem to have numbers everywhere. It's almost like they've got an extra player. Great kick and a big leap here. Touch back and... Harvey Norman replayed. Jonah Peasant, as he's done all night. He's got it on a string. Perfect position. Xavier Coates leaps high. Bats down from Remus Smith. That's Lewis on the ground. Sonny Luke away to Lewis. One of the Melbourne players has been knocked over. That's him. This is as brave as it gets by the Storm. Sonny Luke, they want a kick. Sonny Luke, a kick to the... He was sprinting after it, but he's been beaten to the ball. Kotewa now, he's on the ground. He's incredible. Wrap-around play. And Aguiao from Martin. He's lost it. Great tackle. Xavier Coates. There's an amazing pass here from Isaiah Yeo. Any other night, it is his drive. He can't win. He's got a change of angles. Well taken by Yeo. Lui on this right-hand side. Good hands. That was very... Look at the numbers for Melbourne. This is amazing. The sixth Melbourne Storm play, is it? It is amazing. Well, it's 8-0 in favour of Melbourne, but it's the best 8-0 game you've ever watched.
