She pulls on that iconic number 12 jersey for one final time.
Singh will be forever ingrained in that shirt.
A legend has seen a salute.
She's central to the culture that we've created on this team
and it's an environment that I absolutely love coming to.
It's not ending just because I'm retiring from the national team.
Singh would never want any special treatment.
She doesn't love being centre of attention all the time.
As a lot of people know.
I had run my heart out until we went to extra time
and you've done your work on the field
but now it's how can you support the players on the pitch
and whether that's getting water,
it's rubbing someone's calves out because they're cramping.
It's just all to try and win.
Christine Sinclair is closing out her remarkable career
with one more season playing professionally.
Retired from our national team in a special send-off,
her influence lives on.
Please join us in welcoming to the field
190 youth soccer players
whose own goals have been inspired by Christine's ambition.
My goal is to represent my country.
My goal is to be brave.
My goal is to travel the world for soccer.
To be someone who is looked up to.
Professional soccer player.
To be a leader like Sinclair.
To be like Sinclair.
Seeing the impact that myself and my teammates have had
on young Canadians and to hear the dreams and aspirations
of all the young girls is pretty cool.
How'd it go today?
Inspiring the next generation was always her stated goal
but what Christine may not have realized
is the mark she'd leave on her teammates.
Unfortunately the camera only picks up the highs and the lows
and not everything in between.
It's been quite the journey with the national team.
What are going to be the moments that you look back
and cherish the most?
The things that the camera never saw
or the fans never saw.
The coffee trips or meals, bus rides, things like that
that you can't explain.
It's meant so much to I think everyone on the team.
Put that one.
Thank you for all that you've done for this country,
for the nation, for inspiring generation after generation
but personally for making me a better person
and a better player.
You've instilled confidence in me when I needed it most.
You were a friend when I didn't know where to turn
and you challenged me on the field like nobody else.
She's shown me what it means to be a good leader
and a good Canadian.
She's a really genuine down-to-earth person.
She's the last person to talk about herself
and I think she's really shown us how to operate.
I just tried to take the pressure off them.
Coming into a national team as a youngster
you question why you're there, you're like am I good enough
and it's just trying to get the young players
to believe in themselves.
Jordan, Heitema and Sink, they're like sisters.
It's funny, they both play the same position or they have
and you would think a young player coming through
and the person who's playing that position
you would think there's a threat there
but you watch them, they're like sisters on camp.
It's like the goal of having the environment
be a welcoming place, a place where people can grow,
a place where they feel valued and important.
Within that you get the most out of people.
