Hi, my name's Bob Lindy. I'm an acupuncture physician and registered herbalist at Acupuncture & Herbal Therapies.
Today I'm going to talk to you about herbal remedies for fever.
One of my favorite things to use for fever is a combination of three different flowers.
A combination of yarrow, elderberry and chamomile.
These three herbs put together in equal amounts, usually about two tablespoons of each,
and made into a strong tea, letting them steep for about ten minutes.
We'll make a wonderful, what we call, diaphoretic, which basically means it's going to make you break a sweat.
And there's some wonderful antiviral properties to all of these herbs,
plus the chamomile helps with sleep and any digestive upset.
So, of course, any kind of a fever can be indicative of a serious illness.
So, if it's an acute onset and it's not too high, usually we think of over 102,
then we can go ahead and use herbs safely on our own.
But if we've got a chronic fever and we're not sure why it's getting there and causing a problem,
or it's starting to climb up even higher, it's time to seek professional help.
So you can either find your local herbalist or contact your local M.D. or D.O.
who can address it with medications.
So, you can very successfully use herbs, and there are many other herbs that you can use besides these three.
These just happen to be some of my favorites to use for an acute onset fever due to a cold and flu.
But we can use many other different choices and have great success in dealing with a viral or bacterial-related fever.
This is Bob Lindy talking to you about natural remedies for fever.
