Mr. Electric offers a complimentary home safety checkup on every call. This helps to identify
any potential electrical, fire, or shock hazards in your home. It's a basic visual inspection,
but does not guarantee there are no other issues in your home. We begin at the electrical panel.
Here we look for loose wires, double taps, corrosion, water intrusion, and burn spots.
Next, we inspect the electrical service equipment on the outside of the home to be sure it's in
good shape. It is important to check for damaged or loose equipment. Factors we consider with the
electrical wiring of a house is the age of the home, type of wiring used, either knob and tube
ungrounded or aluminum wiring are areas of concern. We also check exterior wiring and devices.
These need to be protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter because it is required by
code. We also check exterior outlets as well as interior outlets near water, usually in bathrooms
and kitchens, to ensure they are equipped with ground fault circuit interrupters which protect
against electrical shock and that these are properly functioning. Your Mr. Electric service
professional can discuss other options to enhance safety. With a plug tester, we will check that the
accessible receptacles are wired correctly. Throughout the house, we'll take a look at
major connections such as the air conditioning unit for any visual damage. We will check smoke
detectors to ensure proper operation and ask about the age as smoke detectors are usually
recommended to be changed every 10 years. For a more detailed home electrical inspection,
be sure to contact a certified electrician.
