ITALY TRAVEL VLOG: Tuscany & Florence

Italy is wonderful

What is up you guys, welcome back to my channel.
You can tell I just woke up.
We are in Tuscany, if you can believe it.
We can't believe it.
It's one of those things where you travel all day
and then you go to bed and you wake up
and you're like, wait, how did I get here?
But yeah, Chris and I are in Europe.
We had so much fun on our honeymoon last year
that we just decided to basically do 2.0 this year,
although a lot shorter.
We were only here for 10 days this trip last year.
We were in Europe for three weeks pretty much.
Anyways, I digress.
We landed in Pisa late last night
and drove to this cute little B&B
we're staying at in Tuscany.
And we felt that while we were stopping in Pisa
and we were not going back to Pisa,
we were like, we have to go see
the Leaning Tower of Pisa, obviously.
So we did, we went and saw it, it was cool.
It was fun to see.
We got our tacky little tourist photos done
of like, you know, gotta do it.
Anyways, we did that last night, got in here late.
And yeah, we just, I woke up like basically
at the crack of dawn this morning
and got to see a little bit of the sunrise,
which was really cool.
But let me just give you a little tour of our room
because it's super nice.
This is the view I woke up to this morning.
So pretty.
So this is the place we're staying.
I think we got upgraded because I don't remember
it having like this whole kitchen area when I booked it.
I thought we just got like a basic room,
but this is like a whole little apartment.
The kitchen's adorable.
There's a fireplace.
I love this couch.
And there's two bedrooms, which we definitely didn't need,
but they're both so nice.
This is our little bathroom.
Say hello.
Hello.
Cute little tile floors.
And then we decided to sleep in this room,
which was very cozy.
And then this is the other room
and both have really nice views out the windows.
Okay, we're gonna head down
and have some breakfast now
because our stomachs have literally been grumbling
since we woke up this morning at like 5 a.m.
Look at how cute this place is.
It's literally out of a fairytale storybook.
There's our little fiat that we rented.
We couldn't see when we got in last night,
so we just parked it like kind of
in the middle of everything, but it's fine.
For the day.
That's our best attempt.
Anyways, it looks really cute,
so we're gonna stop there first
and then we're gonna try to find some wineries to stop at.
And then we'll probably just hang by the pool
at our little hotel.
The pool area looks really nice
and it's gonna be up to 30 degrees later, Celsius.
So, gonna get some pool time.
Okay, well, we're apparently Tuscany rookies
because we've tried to go to four wineries now.
Four?
Anyways, the first two and the website
that I just looked at for another one,
you need bookings everywhere to do even a wine tasting.
You can't just like show up.
Even if places aren't busy, you need to book in advance.
So now you know, book in advance
if you're going on a wine tour in Tuscany
or if you just, even a tour,
we just wanted to do tastings at different vineyards,
but you need bookings.
And the place that we just showed up to,
there was just nobody there.
It was just dead quiet and it's a Saturday,
so you would think it would be busy.
But anyways, I think-
We have a good backup plan.
Yeah, we're just gonna get our own appies and wine
from a little market or grocery store or something
and then just go back to our resort
because honestly, RV.
All right, we're in the square of San Gimignano.
Okay, look at how cute these are.
They're little magnets that have actual pasta in them.
And then there's like cheese ones and Aperol spritz ones,
but they're so freaking cute.
Okay, that town was super cute.
Would definitely recommend checking it out,
walking around, but it started to get really busy
and touristy right?
We got there at like 1045
and then all of a sudden there was like a rush.
So go early if you go.
This is the hill to get up to our resort.
When we were driving up it last night,
we couldn't see where we were going
because it was pitch black.
Freaky out, scared we're gonna start rolling backwards.
You can kind of see it in the distance right there.
Cloudy, but it's still really warm.
It's like 30 degrees still, so should be fine.
Okay, it is time to go to the pool.
Chris just went to the store
and he picked up some Aperol spritzes.
Yeah, he got like the little mini Aperol spritzes.
Let me just grab one, I'll show you.
These, 9%, silent but deadly.
We drank so many of these last year on our honeymoon
and they were like, how much were these?
Like two euros each, basically.
So cheap.
It's kind of starting to cloud over
and I'm really manifesting
that we still get a sunset tonight
because it's our last night here,
even though we just got here, it feels like.
So I'm really hoping for a sunset
because I have a really pretty dress
that I'm gonna wear to dinner tonight.
We're just having dinner at our hotel
with the menu, looks really good.
Chris really wanted a regu.
And guess what?
They have regu on the menu, so he's excited.
Boys, am I right?
Hero Chris is back in action, ladies and gentlemen.
This is our buddy system,
so we don't let each other fall asleep.
We just like squeeze each other's hand
when the other person's dozing off.
Don't fall asleep.
All right, this is the spread that we put together
and we got our wine, we got our view.
Look at this, it looks like straight out of a fairy tale.
So we got this bottle of wine, we got two kinds of cheese,
we got three kinds of meats and some olives
and Chris got, where's your beer?
Guess how much that was.
It was one euro 80, right?
Yeah, everything was 28 euros.
Yeah, for all of that stuff, which is crazy.
Like that's a lot and that's not even all the meat,
there's still more in the fridge.
Stunning, better than any winery, in my opinion.
L-A-V-I-N.
Okay, quick outfit change, we're heading for dinner.
I'm wearing this absolute gown.
Chris is embarrassed.
But he looks nice with his new striped little Zara shirt.
Anyways, we're just gonna go sit with everyone
we met at the pool, so this is probably gonna be embarrassing
because I'm overdressed, but at least I look cute.
Okay, this is our table for starters.
This view, insane.
The sun is there, it is overcast, but it's still so pretty.
The lighting is still bomb, we just got our first course.
Don't know what it is, but it looks and smells really good.
It's definitely balsamic.
Oh, it's got some meat in it too, yum.
All right, second course, we're having
Chris's favorite, ragu.
And look, he got penne, which is normally
what all the gluten-free peeps get.
And I got, I think this is busily.
Yum, it looks so good, it smells so good.
And the sunset didn't disappoint either.
Okay, I'm already full, but we're on to course number,
I guess three.
Chris is eating the palate cleanser course right now,
which was basically like lettuce with olive oil.
No, it's delicious, actually.
I didn't say it wasn't, I said it was.
It had like olive oil and salt and balsamic on it, maybe?
Anyways, and the next course, this is like porchetta,
which is like Tuscan meat, yummy tomatoes.
Looks, are you excited?
It's your second favorite thing that you wanted to eat today
besides the ragu.
All right, we're on to the dessert course.
It's good.
Probably my favorite dessert as well.
Chris loves tiramisu.
I'm so happy for you, this is like your dream meal.
And they made me a gluten-free tiramisu too,
which I never get to have, so I'm very excited.
This is a dream.
Oh, we just got back to our little apartment.
I'm so full, the food is unbelievable here.
All three courses plus the dessert was so good.
I literally cannot tell you
the last time I had a tiramisu.
I've known that I have a gluten intolerant
for like probably 12 years now.
And that was the first tiramisu I've had
probably in 12 years, so it was unbelievable.
Yeah, I need to go into a food coma now.
I'm starting to kind of hit a wall,
but I'm also wired from the jet lag.
So I just put my PJs on
and we have to try to finish this bottle of wine.
We ordered a bottle of wine, which was probably a mistake.
Tomorrow we have to check out of this beautiful place.
We wish we had one more night, but it's just like gone by.
It's really fast getting in late the first night.
It really like cuts your trip down,
but we're staying in Florence tomorrow night,
which I'm really excited about
because so many people Chris and I have talked to
have said that Florence is like their favorite place
in Italy and we've never been.
So we're gonna go, we're gonna check it out.
We've got lots of restaurant recommendations
and kind of like things to do
and things to see while we're there.
So excited, we're gonna like wake up here
and take our time tomorrow morning.
And then we might stop in a couple of cute little
Tuscan towns on our way there.
And yeah, we're staying in Florence for two nights.
And then I don't even know if I mentioned this yet,
but the next leg of our trip is going to be Mykonos
because we had so much fun last year,
we went to Santorini.
It was both of our first time in Greece.
So we wanted to go to a different island this time.
And so many people have been like Mykonos is overrated,
but we just wanted to go.
And because we don't have that much time this trip,
we just wanted to pick an island in Greece
that could fly in and out of really easily.
So Mykonos it is, we're really excited
regardless of what people are saying.
So that's where we're going next.
But anyways, I digress.
That will be the next vlog.
And then after that, Chris and I are going back to Paris,
which is where we flew into originally this trip.
We're gonna be there for two nights.
I won't be vlogging that just because I vlogged
in Paris last fall when I was there for Fashion Week.
So if you missed that vlog, you can go check it out.
I was there for like nine days or something.
So it was like a very in-depth, fun,
basically living in Paris for a week vlog.
But then I'm going to meet up with one of my best friends
who if you have been part of the vlog fam for a while,
you know really well, her name's Maggie.
She's from New York, she's one of my best friends.
And we're spending four days in Majorca together.
So that will be really fun
and I'll definitely be vlogging that.
So that will be the next vlog after the Mykonos vlog.
So anyways, stay tuned.
If you are part of the vlog fam
or you have been enjoying this vlog
and want to not miss out on future ones,
go ahead and subscribe.
It's so quiet and peaceful here.
All you can hear is like crickets and the odd chatter
from people that are still eating
at the restaurant downstairs.
And other than that, you can hear like one car
go by every hour and that's literally it.
It's so calm and peaceful.
Good morning, you guys.
We are just checking out of our stunning little spot
here in Tuscany.
I'm really sad about it.
I'm gonna link the hotel for you guys
because it was amazing.
Yeah, we're just getting ready to head out.
We're gonna go see a town called Siena today
and then we're heading to Florence
where we're spending the next two nights.
So lots of fun times ahead.
Okay, we're coming into Siena.
It looks really cute so far.
Okay, this place is really cool.
There's, I think that's the cathedral.
Look at all the birds.
All the buildings are so cute
and there's tons of laundry hanging,
which is one of my favorite things about Europe
is everyone hangs their laundry outside.
It's just so cute and authentic.
There's wind and I'm wearing a small skirt
so Chris is helping me get a little bit down.
It's old fashioned.
It is, at least I look cute.
It started to rain so we found a little bit of a hotel.
Yeah, there's so many good dogs here.
We're just sitting at a little cafe in the main square
having a little spritz.
I'm having a Hugo spritz and Chris is having Aperol
and we had a little coffee as well.
Chris spotted this little panini shop
across from where we were sitting
and he just went and got one.
It's got prosciutto in it, right?
Yeah.
Oh, and stracciatella,
which I think is like a yummy cheese, right?
Right?
See how yummy it is.
Is it good?
Yeah?
It looks really cute in there.
Okay, we've almost arrived in Florin.
We beat the rain.
I think it's gonna hopefully stop now
because it's the odd drop.
But we're just driving up to the viewpoint.
We saw the turnoff to the,
it's like the Piazza of Michelangelo
and so many people told us we have to go up there
because it's a really good view of the city.
So we're gonna go do that first.
Before we go check into our hotel,
we're gonna go see this viewpoint.
Michelangelo.
What did you say?
So much of a wing.
Okay, we just checked into our next little hotel.
It's super cute.
It's like very princess room.
Sorry, Chris.
We're just gonna go out and grab a bite to eat.
It's lunchtime.
And I'm hoping, I'm craving pasta.
Apparently they have tons of gluten-free options
everywhere in Florin.
So hoping I can find a nice little GF pasta.
And the rain has stopped and it's really warm outside
and the sun's supposed to come back out.
So it should be good.
We're here for the next two nights
and we weren't totally sure about this
but the area that we're staying is very like central
and it's walking only for most times.
There's like certain times that you can
and can't drive in the area.
But we had to like park our car in a parkade
and then walk in to where we are,
which is kind of nice.
Cause we'll just be walking everywhere
for the next two days.
Getting our steps in.
This guy is making tortellini.
I think it's tortellini.
Oh my gosh.
He's making them by hand.
That's so cool.
Found a cute little wine bar to post up at
and look out at the view.
My little scarf on to protect from the rain.
We figured out, we couldn't figure out
why the car was so dirty after it rained.
It turns out there's acid rain in Italy.
Yeah.
It's not dangerous.
It's also called dirty rain, whatever.
But it's crazy.
Like look, my phone got some raindrops on it
and it's like got actual dirt.
It's the same as my outfit.
It's covered in dirt.
Anyways, I'm protecting my hair with this scarf.
Okay.
So I got a ton of dinner recommendations
for the mornings from people.
And this one spot that we're at right now
was recommended by three different people.
So we were like, okay, we have to come here.
And we couldn't get a reservation.
So we just walked in and we miraculously got in.
But it's coming.
Okay, our food just got here.
They had gluten-free pasta.
It looks really good.
What did you get again?
Tortellini.
It's like ragu.
Meat sauce.
Rabbit sauce.
Oh, rabbit sauce.
Okay, that restaurant was delicious.
We will say.
I'm gonna put the name down below for you guys
so you can go check it out if you're in Florence ever.
Because it was actually really delicious.
My pasta, even though it was gluten-free,
the sauce was delicious and so was Chris's.
We both 10 out of 10.
And then we went to a quick little place
that had like to-go spritzes.
Yeah, it was like a spritz bar.
It wasn't one of the spritz windows yet.
We're gonna go to one of those tomorrow.
But they had like 450 spritzes.
Okay, so we're currently about to walk back
across the bridge.
It's like the iconic bridge.
I forget what it's called.
I'm really bad with names.
I think this is the iconic bridge.
That's probably it.
Yeah, it's like the bridge
that has all of the little buildings and stuff attached
to it and it looks really cool.
We walked over a different one on the way here, so.
Okay, I got the name.
It's called Ponte Vecchio.
Look how cool it is.
Look behind me.
It's so cool.
Okay, we just went back to the hotel
because I had to charge my phone for it.
Wow.
It's definitely giving Rome vibes.
But it feels-
Rome wins people.
Of size.
But this feels-
No, population.
And size.
Three million to 400,000.
People.
Rome is bigger, you said.
Rome is bigger.
I have to show you.
We just are walking past these cars.
I have to show you this car.
Like, this is what we were talking about.
That's from the rain today.
It's wild.
It's dirty.
Acid rain.
Who knew?
All right, we got our first gelato of the trip.
Chris got ricotta and fig, which sounds really good.
I want to try it.
And I got just pistachio.
But you can't go wrong with pistachio, so.
It's starting to rain again.
We're going to get dirt rain.
Good vlogging.
Is that good?
Sorry, I've been asked to take over.
What flavor?
Pistachio.
I already said that.
It is tasty.
Yeah, it's actually pretty good.
Good morning, you guys.
I just finished getting ready for the day.
Wearing more white today.
That's what Chris just said.
He said my outfit's been white so far.
He's not really wrong, actually.
But I'm wearing these cute little shoes today.
I'm excited about it.
We accidentally slept in because I woke up at like five
and I could not fall back asleep till probably 7.30.
And then pretty much fall back asleep from 7.30
till probably like just after nine.
We just kept snoozing our alarm.
So it's like 10.30 now.
Just finished getting ready.
Just starting the day.
But it was raining this morning anyway,
so I'm not too upset about it.
But we're going to head out,
explore on our list of to-dos today.
It's definitely, we have to go to one of the like
iconic Aperol spritz windows.
I don't know if you've seen those in Florence before.
Basically, it's just like you order it through a window
and it's like literally the window is the size
of your wine glass and you stick your arm in
and get it out.
So I'm excited for that.
Okay, we found a breakfast spot
and then decided we wanted pizza.
Because this place has good Greek pizza
and it looks really good.
So we're having pizza.
Having pizza and caprese salad and coffee.
Probably with a side of spritz.
We did a prosciutto pizza.
It's really Greek crust.
Unreal.
And caprese salad.
Okay, the pizza was so good.
I'm stuffed.
And now we're heading to the wine window
and I think we are here.
There it is, the little wine window.
Aperol spritz acquired from the window.
We have just been having the most chill day in Florence.
Yeah, we've just been eating, drinking,
and walking around seeing sights.
Yeah, I just had my second gelato of the trip.
Chris just had his first prosciutto of the trip.
Didn't take any footage for you guys, I'm sorry.
But it was pretty epic.
Very fresh tomatoes.
But yeah, now we're heading back to our place.
I have to shoot this gown tonight.
So that's gonna be interesting.
But I'm gonna go grab it.
He's just as excited as me.
Probably more excited, actually.
So yeah, we're gonna...
Oh, pick that up.
No littering.
Whenever we're in a new country,
we like to look at the McDonald's menu
and never order anything.
But it's always fun to see.
Look, they have a gluten-free burger.
Parmigiano-Reggiano, Pecorino-Toscano.
Yeah, they got way better drinks.
Naturally, they have tiramisu.
All the desserts and the pastries look so good.
What are you doing?
Okay, we got the dress shot.
Thank God.
Chris was such a trooper.
It was pretty insane in the middle of a square
full of tons of people shooting that bright red thing.
But we got it done and now we're having dinner.
We found this cute little spot
and they have gluten-free pasta.
And I got truffle pasta.
And it's like this tagliatelle,
which I usually always get penne,
so I was really excited about it.
It's so good.
Right, we arrived in Bologna
and we found this market.
It's called Mercato di Mezzo.
And I got this octopus salad and it's delish.
And Chris just got this massive,
delicious-looking lasagna.
What's in it?
Is it veggie?
Oh, it's bolognese.
This looks like maybe like spinach pasta.
Yeah, it looks so good.
It's lasagna of my life.
Apologies, mama.
Okay, I just had a bite of Chris's lasagna.
Just the sauce part.
Epic.
Like, best lasagna I've ever had in my life.
Easily.
Easily, yeah.
There, it's like a whole little area
that's just markets and restaurants
and all the food looked insane.
It's really cool here.
Okay, we just arrived at the Bologna airport.
We dropped our bag off
and the food here at the airport
looks nicer than food at restaurants in Canada.
Like, nice ones.
And the market.
There's like a market, I'll show you too.
It's so crazy.
How cute.
And there's like a market over there.
Great.
This is the end of our time in Italy.
We're just about to board our flight to Minas.
We're looking forward to the sunset.
Gonna see water.
Gonna see water for the soul.
By the way, this airport is so busy and packed.
Yeah, it's absolutely packed.
Thank you guys for watching.
Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss our next video
which will be Greece
and then I'm going to America later as well.
So, subscribe.
And we'll see you guys next time.
Bye.
Ciao.
