In Greek mythology, the list of sea deities never ends, as way too many deities inhabited the sea.
Among these numerous sea gods and goddesses, there was one goddess,
very strong and powerful, who gave birth to most of the dangerous creatures of the sea.
This was Ceto, the primordial goddess of the sea monsters.
Ceto was the daughter of Pontus, the primordial god of sea,
and Gaia, the primordial goddess of the earth.
She is a primordial goddess who represented all the dangers that the mysterious sea posed.
Ceto caught the eye of one of her siblings,
Phocis, the primordial god of sea dangers, and fell in love with him and decided to marry him.
In this union, Ceto gave birth to the most dangerous and monstrous children known in
Ceto's eldest children were the Grey, the sisters who had grey hair from their birth.
Their names were Pemphedro, Enyo, and Dino.
The second set of Ceto's children were the famous Gorgons, named as Steno, Uriel, and Medusa,
the one you might already be knowing.
The third child was Echidna, who is said to have an upper body of a woman,
but lower body of a snake.
And finally, Ceto's youngest child was Laeden, the fearsome dragon
who guarded the golden apples in the Garden of Hesperides.
