Thank you for joining me in today's video where we discuss my 2024 Christmas Design Inspiration. I show you my Pinterest inspiration photos which consist of earthy tones, neutral decor and lots of Christmas greenery! I'm telling you my plans for my Christmas tablescape, Christmas trees, bedroom decor, and my mantle. I believe it's important to have a plan and list of what you need before you go shopping for decorations. This will help keep you within your decor budget and stop you from purchasing things that do not have a home. With this economy, we all need to be aware of our spending, right?! We are only a few weeks away from Target, HomeGoods, Kirkland's, and other retailers release their Christmas decor in stores! Hobby Lobby and Walmart already have a good start on Christmas decorations! #christmastreecraft#christmasdecorating#DIY#artanddesign
Hello everyone, welcome back to my channel or welcome if you are new. My name is Kayla and I
am so happy to have you here today. I am talking all things 2024 Christmas planning. In my last
video was a Hobby Lobby early Christmas decor haul and I encourage people who are going to shop in
the retail stores to have an idea of what you're looking for before you step into the stores
because what can happen is there's so much decor especially in places like HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby
that it can be overwhelming and you're grabbing things that aren't necessarily what you're going
for this year for Christmas and so if you're only picking a few things that make a big impact
for me it's important to plan those areas out. So on my Pinterest board I have saved a couple
of photos and videos that I am going to share with you guys today about what I am going for
in my Christmas planning and what I do is I have notes in my phone that I can refer back to as I'm
in the stores so I'm not picking up things that aren't necessarily making as big of an impact as
I want and so I'm not overspending. I'm looking for the things that I know I want this year in
my house for Christmas and nothing more. I don't know about you but I tend to be like oh that's
cute pick it up put it in the cart but not necessarily have a plan for it so that can just
lead to overspending and unnecessarily spending during the holidays which is what I'm trying to
avoid especially in this economy. You feel me? So let's look at my Pinterest board. I saved a few
things that I wanted to share. I'm going to share it here on the screen but I do have my laptop in
front of me so I'm going to be referring to the images there. So one thing I am doing that I have
not done before is I'm going to be decorating my bedroom. I have not added decor in my bedroom
before. This year I am adding a pencil tree. I do want to get a few cozy pillows and a throw blanket
and then I want to add garland to my headboard as well as decorate our dresser space. So that is what
I'm doing for the bedroom. I do have this little picture here on Pinterest. This is what I'm going
for kind of greens, browns, neutrals. My husband loves the color green and so do I and so I just
think that that's going to really cozy up our space. So when we get in bed after my son goes
to bed and we're just hanging out in there watching tv or movies it is so cozy. It looks
really cozy and honestly it's such a dream to have a tree in my room. So that is something that I'm
doing but I don't want it to be too crowded. We don't have a huge space in my bedroom and so
everything's going to be really minimal. The tree is going to be really slim and then we're just
adding touches of Christmas in the spaces that I can. So taking inspiration from that photo,
I picked up a pencil tree from Walmart and I will be on the lookout for a throw blanket and some
pillows and those are likely going to come from HomeGoods or possibly Target. I'm waiting for
them to release like the Threshold Studio McGee line and Hearth and Hand because I tend to really
enjoy those lines more than like the Wonder Shop for this type of thing. So I will be looking there.
The next thing I'm going to be doing is doing some DIY. So in my Hobby Lobby decor haul if you haven't
seen that I'm going to link it down below but I did mention that I'm going to try and DIY some
ornaments. I am getting a brand new tree from King of Christmas which that's like a dream. I'm so
excited for it and I can't wait to show it to you guys but I'm getting the new tree and I'm getting
two new pencil trees possibly three new pencil trees and so I'm going to have a lot of ornaments
that I'm going to want to fill but I don't have the budget for like crate and barrel ornaments
on all three trees nor do I have the budget for Studio McGee ornaments on all three trees. So I
am going to take some ornaments, DIY them and here is my inspiration for that. It's going to be a lot
of acrylic paint and dabbing on some like gold antique rub and buff and I'm really excited to see
how it turns out. I love the look of the ornaments like the crate and barrel ornaments West Elm
Studio McGee but they tend to be really expensive just for four and with three new trees I'm going
to need to have more than just four new ornaments so I'm going to try and DIY them and I of course
will take you along with me but I do have some Pinterest ideas as to how I'm going to do it
so we'll see how they turn out. One thing I wanted to add last year that I didn't get around to doing
is adding nutcrackers. I love the look of these gold brass nutcrackers and these are also DIY
so I know Hobby Lobby has just plain wooden nutcrackers that I can purchase and do crafts on
so I can paint them, use either metallic gold spray paint or use some rub and buff, might do a
little of both. I'm thinking of spray painting them a matte black and then using gold rub and
buff on the top of it so that will be in a DIY video as well but I do want to add the nutcrackers
and give them that really expensive elevated look of that like metallic gold brass color. For
Thanksgiving this year I actually purchased 12 black chargers and I have never set a beautiful
tablescape before so I'm going to attempt to do a beautiful Christmas tablescape so I found a
Pinterest idea with garland in the middle of the table with the gold reindeer which those are
stunning reindeer I don't know where they're from but they are so pretty and then I'm going to
attempt to do the white plates, white napkins and then I love the velvet ribbon with a bow on top
and then the black charger. I think that is so pretty that's definitely something I can pull
together and if I do the white plates I think Target has them on sale right now so I might pick
up some white plates otherwise I'm sure I can pull something together for really cheap from like the
dollar store even so that is kind of my inspiration for the table I do want it to be simple and I
don't want it to be too over the top I do have kids who are going to be here for Christmas my
stepson and then my toddler my niece and nephew are also going to be here for Christmas and so
it just needs to be simple and nothing that's too breakable I am definitely looking to add more
of the velvet texture this year I love the look of velvet ribbon so if you can see on this image
here with the wreath on the outside of my door with the velvet ribbon and the three bells I did
get three bells like that from Hobby Lobby and then I'm going to order some artificial trees that
are going to line the door on the outside from Target and I love to purchase the real wreaths
from Costco when they're released so I'm going to look into that or I might purchase an artificial
one for the outside but love just adding a simple velvet ribbon and how that elevates the look of
everything instead of this like brown orangish color that's on this I am going to add a burgundy
ribbon I am looking to add more burgundy throughout the house this year and little pops of color that
way so this is kind of the look I'm going for for Christmas in the on the outside on the front
porch my husband is really into the Christmas lights and doing those but I'm going to do the
front door area I have pinned several different tree ideas what I'm going for is just I'm so
excited at the burgundy ribbon I'm going to be looking for the burgundy really thin ribbon to
put on my tree from King of Christmas this year I love the beaded garlands I love how they doubled
up with the gold beads on this one and then the ornaments are beautiful I'm going to try to find
similar ones but also the ones I DIY are hopefully going to be the ones I use on this type of tree
but very neutral I am obsessed with this look and I've added a couple of different tree vibes here
that I'm going for so if you can see they all have like similar textures and colors so something
along those lines is what I'm going for especially on my main tree that I'm getting from King of
Christmas now that tree is going to be flocked so it's going to look a little bit different but
I am still going to go for those like browns tans neutrals greens blacks that kind of color and I'm
really excited to add that in this year I do plan on decorating my son's room and putting some
decorations in my stepson's room as well and so we're going to go really playful traditional
Christmas in those rooms my son is a huge football fan so we're going to add a little tree in there
we have a bunch of Washington State University cougar ornaments that's where my husband and I
went to college and so I'm going to take those normally those go on our main tree in the living
but because I'm getting a brand new beautiful tree I'm going to kind of distribute some of those
really memorable and nostalgic ornaments that we have the sentimental ornaments are going to go
in my son's room and then on one of our pencil trees that we're keeping so I'm going to not have
those sentimental ornaments on the main tree but I'm going to share them and distribute them among
the others so my son is going to have like really traditional red and white Christmas
Washington State is crimson gray and white and so I'm going to kind of do his tree with football
crimson gray white and then add in like if I can find white striped sheets and then some really fun
garland to do that this is kind of an inspiration but it's kind of the vibe that I'm going for as
far as being really childish playful beautiful colors really traditional Christmas I'm super
excited because he loves Christmas I take him into Hobby Lobby with me and he's like
Christmas trees he loves it so I'm really excited to do his room up another thing I
really wanted to improve upon this year from what I did last year was my kitchen island
so if you guys didn't see my Hobby Lobby haul I did purchase a pretty large vase that I'm going
to be sticking in some stems and I do want to find the lit stems like in this picture they
had them at Target last year I believe but I'm going to be looking for those and then just doing
a little decor stack I love that they did the bells here I did buy those from Hobby Lobby I'm
not sure if those are going to go on the kitchen island on the tray with the stems or if I'm going
to put them on the entryway table either way this is an option and then I do love the look of the
ceramic trees I think it's not too busy not too over the top pretty neutral but it does bring in
the warmth and beauty of Christmas I love adding in the golds and just the beautiful Christmas
trees and then tons of greenery I love greenery so anything that lights up like those lit stems
is also going to just elevate it even more so this is kind of my inspiration for the kitchen island
and the look that I am going for in the kitchen the last image I want to show you guys is for my
mantle so I have a mantle basically in the center of my living room it does have a TV mounted over
it so I don't have a ton of space like in the center of the mantle to put any tall things tall
items or decor pieces but the way that this picture is set up it looks like there's those
bronze gold candlesticks which I have one similar to that on the ends and then the stockings are on
the left hand side I love the way the garland is draped with the bells on the right hand side
I love they added lights to it I'm definitely going to be adding lights to my garland and then
just a big huge burgundy ribbon to go right on that right side where it's draping over
that is so pretty this is the look I'm going for however my stockings are not that neutral
my stockings are traditional Christmas colors red green white and they are knit they're gorgeous
they're from threshold I have four of them and so those are going to go on the left hand side so it
is going to look a little more traditional Christmas than this is because of the stockings
I also have the little bells from Hobby Lobby that I shared in my early Christmas decor haul
so those bells are going to be hanging off of the stockings as well I do have the ceramic white
houses from Target that are stocking holders I haven't decided if I'm going to use them or not
I might use two of them and find some other flat stocking holders or I might use command hooks for
the other stocking holders but this is the look I'm going for I think this is absolutely stunning
without being too over the top I do have a few entryway ideas that I found on Pinterest I haven't
found exactly which one is going to be the direction I'm going or my favorite I might just
pull some inspiration and do something totally my own and not what is exactly on here I think that's
okay too so I haven't necessarily pulled one that I'm like yes this is the one that I'm going after
but I have a lot of pieces that I've used in years past so I don't necessarily think I need to
purchase anything new for the entryway table one thing I am going to do is right now I have a
window over the entryway table and I think I'm going to switch it for a round mirror which I
have on the opposite side so I'm just going to do a little switch or maybe I'll just take down
the window and not put that up until maybe next year so that's kind of what I'm thinking for the
entryway is just doing a little swap there and putting either garland or swag on the mirror
above the entryway table other than that I'm looking for a few little items for the bathrooms
little hand towels soap dispensers things like that and we'll just see what else comes out but
I am really pleased with what I got so far I'm so excited with this direction that I'm headed
and looking for some new pieces in the stores this year but like I said because I'm so focused on
these items and these areas in my home I know that I won't be purchasing things unnecessarily
with no place to put it one thing that I like to keep in mind is just replacing items that I
already have and switching them out for seasonal decor so things like my utensil crock if I find
Christmas utensils that's like a really good way to add Christmas vibes into your kitchen
your hand towels if you have some photos maybe putting some Christmas prints in there that's
just a really cheap way to add some Christmas spirit into areas that are already decorated
and you don't have to overthink those areas at all if you guys have candles throughout your house
maybe swapping those for Christmas candles or if you have a floral centerpiece in your table right
now switching those out for some Christmas stems easy things like that where you already know what
goes well there you don't have to overthink it that way you're not so overwhelmed when you walk
into those retail stores once their new collections come out so I hope you guys enjoyed this video and
it inspired you to kind of get some ideas of what you're looking for before you go spend money in
the stores this year like I said Christmas is approaching fast and the decor is being released
any week now especially in places like home goods Target will start releasing them towards the end
of September early October and so it is time to get a plan in place I hope this inspired you to
do that if you can hop on Pinterest look at some ideas if you liked any of mine let me know down in
the comments below and let me know what you're going to be looking for in the stores this year
I'll see you guys soon bye
