【Classical music and nature 古典音樂小站】Johann Sebastian Bach: 15 Sinfonias, BWV 787-801 - 7. Sinfonia in E minor, BWV 793. This beautiful piece was played by Randolph Hokanson. In his fair copy of 1723, Bach arranged the inventions and sinfonias in ascending order of key. In contrast to the ‘Well-Tempered Clavier’, there are no pieces in keys that were uncommon at the time.

Bach preceded the 1723 manuscript with the following title as a ‘user guide’. The cursive writing corresponds to Bach's German Kurrent handwriting:

"Rhythmic variation of the first invention in the 1720 version
Sincere instructions, by which those who love the clavier, but especially those who are eager to learn, are shown a clear way, not only (1) to learn to play in two voices in a pure manner, but also, with further progressions, also (2) with three obligato parts, correctly and well, and at the same time also to get good inventions not only, but also to execute them well, but most of all to achieve a cantabile way of playing, and in addition to get a strong taste of composition.
