It's a pity that dogs cannot speak.
It would be easier to understand where and what specifically hurts them.
A dying dog on the street, battered and broken, needed urgent help.
Her name was Armina.
Armina was found lying on the pavement, barely responsive, her breathing labored and heavy.
Her muzzle was cruel brokens.
That was evidence of a relentless and senseless attack.
The scene made everyone heartbroken.
On the way to the hospital, I felt like she was about to leave.
They arrived at 3am, she was still breathing.
Thanks God.
The dog was immediately placed on oxygen and an infusion pump.
The initial diagnosis suggested she had been hit by a car,
but it soon became clear that she had been targeted with deliberate violence.
She had been shot.
Her body was swollen with holes in her muzzle.
Armina's condition has worsened.
She can't maintain her temperature.
And yesterday morning it dropped to 37 degrees Celsius.
On the next day, Armina is being transported to Moscow.
The decision was made to transport her to a place for better care.
Days passed in the hospital and Armina's condition remained critical.
Yet, amid the struggle, there were glimmers of hope.
She showed signs of improvement, movement, turning, and even the beginnings of recovery.
The little one pulled out her feeding tube.
Surgery became a necessity.
The operation lasted 7 hours and ended at night.
Everything went as ideal as possible.
The jaw was put together with plates.
Eventually, Armina was discharged from the hospital and returned to Penza for rehabilitation.
The road was long and fraught with challenges.
Her eyes remained closed.
A silent testimony to the trauma she had endured.
She did not react to food or treats.
Her body was still too weak to engage with the world as she once had.
Armina continued to be fed through a tube.
Her medications were administered carefully to avoid causing her additional pain.
Her upper jaw began to heal, but her lower jaw lagged behind.
And her sense of smell and sight were still uncertain.
Each day brought its own set of challenges.
With the dedicated care and constant companionship of her rescuer,
Armina felt reassured and recovered better.
Change the gauze around the tube to prevent irritation and infection at the incision site.
Prepare the food with warm water.
Introduce it into the tube.
Rinse it with water afterward and later administer the medications 6 times a day.
Right now, she is like a person recovering from intensive care and hospitalization
who has arrived at a sanatorium for rehabilitation,
receiving care, vitamin cocktails, vitamin D from the sunlight,
and pure fresh air from the surrounding forest.
Armina began to show signs of life that brought smiles to those
who had been anxiously watching her progress.
She managed to move her jaw and make small, painful attempts to adapt to her new reality.
Each day was a mix of small victories and setbacks.
The emotional toll was immense.
The once-spirited dog had to navigate a world of darkness and pain.
She struggled with the loss of her whiskers and eyelashes,
vital for her sense of touch and smell,
making it even harder for her to understand her surroundings.
Despite the physical and emotional challenges,
she began to show a renewed will to live.
The sight of her attempting to eat on her own, even if inconsistently,
was a testament to her willpower.
Her progress was slow but steady.
She started to regain weight.
The next hurdle was a fifth surgery.
The surgery was a significant step,
involving the removal of a portion of her lower jaw
and the plate that had been causing discomfort.
Though the procedure was stressful,
it was hoped that it would bring Armina closer to a life with less pain and more functionality.
Her resilience shone through as she adjusted to her new way of life,
finding joy in simple pleasures despite her ongoing challenges.
