Newsflash Update - What's in store for 2022? Welcome to Tailgate Talk

[Music] well hello everyone and welcome to a little segment that we like to call tailgate talk tailgate talk is something that we put on for our patreons once a month it's a little bit more personal a little bit more about us what we're doing what our plans are where we're going what we've been doing but we thought this time seeing as it's coming to the end of the year that we'd like to share one with you yes and do make sure that you stay till the very end of this video because we do have an announcement we sure do the first thing we'd like to do is say thank you every single one of you especially our patrons who have been so supportive throughout the last year and for everybody who has donated to the tip jar to help fuel tonto we really really appreciate it yeah and we don't always get the chance to thank everybody right away but just know that it is appreciated and it does keep us on the road we'd also like to thank every single one of you who have subscribed liked ring that notification bell it does actually help with the youtube algorithm so please if you haven't subscribed please do please put that notification bell on and like the videos that thumbs up is really important and also commenting is it all is and it's like we've said before it's free and it helps us out a great deal and we do generally appreciate it very much which leads us to one issue about the comments uh we have come across a issue that we like to dub the disappearing comment because we will get a notification to the email from youtube saying that okay we've got new comments on videos and if we go into youtube through the uh the email there we go to our back office and whatnot and uh the comment has suddenly disappeared yes sometimes we don't get it for three months later we do read every single comment and answer 99.9 of them so if we haven't answered them straight away please bear with us sometimes it's a youtube issue sometimes it's a no service issue but we will get around to answering them and i believe we have mentioned this before but we absolutely love communicating with all of you that comment on our channel and i think that we do have the best subscribers on youtube because you are all just so supportive and helpful and friendly and we feel like we've created almost a community we know a lot of you by first name now so it's kind of like catching up you know and and chit chatting every now and again and we love that that's just it's amazing to us since leaving california september 2020 that means we've been on the road 15 months living in tonto hopefully our videos are getting better we are learning new techniques so bear with us on that our first few videos were a little bit scratchy we didn't have mics we don't film with the up-to-date technology we are literally only filming on the iphone and we've recently brought in our second camera which we've had for ages but uh to try and get different angles so we hope you're enjoying that as i said do bear with us it is a huge learning curve with editing and everything yeah i can't believe that we've been on the road 15 months living in tonto that is surprising now i know a lot of you are going to ask us about the leaky top we have avoided the rain since our last issue but so many of you recommended us buying a tarp we bought a tarp so hopefully fingers crossed that will make all the difference to our leaky topper issue until we get our project in putting it out there in the universe we don't have the money yet but we do still want a project him it will give us so much more well we'll be able to go exploring more we'll be able to not worry about being leaked on all the time it'll give us so much more space it'll be like living in a mansion exactly and it will give us a little bit more personal space in that sense of so like say for example when andrea is doing her research and everything and i'm trying to do my editing that's all done right here so that's why some of these we're looking forward to more space so i have a spot where i can kind of sit down and and spend some more time with the the editing while andrew's doing more time with the research because every once in a while we need to swap you know positions or what have you and it disrupts the other ones so but we made it work pretty good so far what do you think have we made it work so far the next subject's locations we really really appreciate all of you that send us locations now we have pinned them all we haven't got around to filming them all yet so again please bear with us i know paula you were one of the first people to send us a location we've had so many others richard bill joey chris patrick doug uh i know some of you and you have sent them to us through our email so which is good which is nice because it keeps it a bit confidential because we don't you know if you give us coordinates and trust we don't want to break that trust you know we want to keep these places preserved so everybody can come in and enjoy them so please do keep sending those locations via email info for pin in the atlas gmail.com that way it will keep it off the comments so it will be a little bit more private if you have friends that own abandoned hospitals or you know buildings or old mines that they would like us to to document or give us permission to film i mean you know please send those our way yeah and just piggybacking off the the locations and things uh we're gonna kind of try to pick and choose these locations a little bit more wisely we need to be a bit more efficient uh with choosing these locations and try to pick an area where we can kind of in a sense set up a base camp and then jump off to to different locations because as you all know the price of everything is is going through the roof the price of gas is getting ridiculous and um we're solely living off of uh google adsense our incredible patrons and all of you that have reached into your pocketbook and helped us fuel tonto so we appreciate that so much you guys are keeping us on the road basically what stephen's saying is we've run out of savings but i think we've done really well for 15 months but uh so that leads us to our announcement drumroll okay the big announcement well it's not that big but it is uh an announcement for the channel going forward starting in the new year uh we're gonna go back down to one video a week uh on tuesdays like we initially started our channel for the reasons kind of stated just prior getting to some of these locations is getting tougher and we can't spend the time to go out to all the places that we want to i said our pocketbooks are tight right now but we do want to continue to show you as many places as possible the other thing is is we really want to improve the quality of the videos and spend more time positioning the cameras doing the editing choosing the music the right sort of music and all of that is done when we're sitting in the back of the truck we don't have the luxury of spending money and booking us into a hotel room or going to somewhere for a period of time we don't have a home base so all of that takes time thought and yeah yeah because like we've said we we've got the two cameras we've got the iphone we've got the nikon we do all of the editing on the laptop which like we said is it's all done right here so some of it i don't want to say they're a bit rushed but we want to be able to spend just that little bit more time to tweak the sound to tweak you know this that and everything because someone pointed out oh there's there's a little bit of you know things here and there sorry we're doing the best we can we've got what we've got and that's it yes and sound and also color using the two cameras we do as we said we film on the iphone and the nikon but we do all our editing in imovies we don't have a flash editing program so uh we do the best we can with what we've got in time hopefully we'll be able to get a better editing program maybe another camera which actually we have got our eyes set on a really nice camera but that's going to be after we get the topper so and then also we do have have had some comments about they do like the variety of as of late and uh you know that is something that we've wanted to do for a while when we were in nevada you know we did all those mining camps because those were so abundant i mean you can't turn around the next corner without finding one so that's why that stint was a lot of mines mining camps and ghost towns and things like that which we still want to do yeah we still love ghost towns but we also enjoy doing the canyons and historic sites and native american sites so we want more of a variety as well we still will carry on doing ghost towns yeah because also what we're documenting is our trip throughout the us you know showing you some of these incredible places that are out there that you may not have know of that are even in your backyard like said the canyons some people have commented and said i live here in utah and i had no idea that canyon was there so this is we are kind of documenting our our life and our travels and we want to just show wonderful places that this whole country has to offer now we have lined up all our videos for january we have already recorded and edited those so we've got a little bit of a breathing space to carry on filming and editing but we also have a website that we haven't maintained for a while so we do still want to maintain our website writing our blogs get more involved again with instagram pinterest and those those things so let us know what type of locations you'd like us to film what interests you i know lots of you do like the ghost towns but what else is there leave the comments down below or email us even better and if you've got history on one of those locations better still but i will check you know me now although we are posting going to be posting once a week we still will be doing a journey series which will come out once a month on a friday and we are also going to throw in bonus videos so you do need to keep that notification bill on and i think
