"CLIP DESCRIPTION: Captain Etienne Navarre (Rutger Hauer) tells Phillipe (Matthew Broderick) of his quest and explains why they need to stick together.
FILM DESCRIPTION: In medieval France, knight Rutger Hauer and lady fair Michelle Pfeiffer both run afoul of evil-bishop John Wood. Through the auspices of bishop's confessor Leo McKern, Hauer and Pfeiffer are placed under a curse. During the night, Hauer takes the form of a wolf, while Pfeiffer assumes the form of a hawk by day. The two lovers can only meet one another as humans at dawn and dusk. The only mortal in a position to rescue Hauer and Pfeiffer from their fate is nebbishy pickpocket Matthew Broderick, who acts as liaison between the lovers. With the help of the guilt-ridden McKern--and a convenient solar eclipse--Broderick endeavors to set things aright.
For generations, it has never been complete, until now.
This jewel represents my family.
This one is our alliance with the Holy Church in Rome.
This one represents us in the Crusades.
And this one...
Sir, you don't think I took that?
No, I took that.
This is mine too.
Each generation is called what follows afterwards.
And what is your quest?
Tell me, does this walking horse have a name?
His race...
The Bishop of Capulet.
Bishop?
I see.
Well...
Well, then you have much to do.
And I've already been enough burden to you.
I do hope our paths cross again one day.
I need you to guide me into the city.
Not for the life of my mother.
Even if I knew who she was.
The only one who has ever escaped.
It was chance, pure chance.
A miracle, once in a lifetime.
I fell down a hole and followed my nose.
I have witnessed...
...the genius of Son of God.
When I heard...
...the warning bells...
...I knew the moment of my destiny had come.
You will be my guiding light.
Me?
Sir, the truth is I talk to God all the time.
And no offense, but he never mentioned you.
No?
There are strange forces at work in your life.
Magical ones that surround you.
I don't understand them, but they frighten me.
You have given me my light.
The truth is I can never repay you.
I have no honor and never will have.
I don't think that you would kill me for being what I am.
But...
...better that than to return to Aquila.
I'll gather some wood for the fire.
