New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan recently postponed former President Donald Trump’s sentencing in his New York criminal case. The date was moved from Sept. 18 to Nov. 26—namely after the general election, as Trump’s attorneys had requested.
And Judge Juan Marchand last week delayed the sentencing in former
President Trump's business records case. The date was moved from September 18th
to November 26th which is after the general election. That's after Trump's
attorneys asked for just that. But how does the New York case affect Trump's
run for president? Would a sentencing ahead of the election have impacted
voter support for him? Entity went to the streets to ask New Yorkers.
Depending on the severity of the sentencing, would it impact how you how
likely or unlikely you would vote for him? I'm going to vote for him no matter what.
How does that affect your vote? No matter what happens, Trump is our president. He will
always be our president. Either he gets elected or he doesn't. And what he does
in his personal life is different than what is going to become in his
candidacy. I'm not voting for him regardless. So yeah, I mean the sentencing
was like, you know, it's icing on the cake for me. But I was already going to vote for Kamala.
So no, I wasn't going to vote for him either way. I understand people who do
vote for him though. And I'm not here to judge anybody. A lot more likely probably.
A lot more likely. Can you elaborate? I think it's the first ever charges of its
kind being brought to someone and it just seems very conveniently timed. And
not for the right reasons over something that didn't affect anyone. In this case
Trump is the best one to control the economic problems in the whole America
because there is too much inflation going on and too much outside problems
around the world. I think Trump is going to play a good role for the benefits of
America and other countries around the world. He was found guilty back in May,
right? And when that news came out did it change at all in what light you see him?
No, not at all. It didn't change my mind. I'm still voting Trump and I voted Trump
before and I'm gonna do it again. No, because I assumed he was doing that kind
of stuff. The only difference is the courts now know that he was doing that
definitively but that didn't really change my thing. I love him even more. Not
really. I mean he is who he is at the end of the day and I think we all know who
that is. So do you think this is a political trial or do you think there's
truth to it? Or both? It's both. Yeah. Or do you think it's some truth to it? There's no truth.
There's no truth to it. It's all political by a rigged democratic system.
A hundred percent a political trial and anyone that tries to say otherwise like
it just doesn't like him and it's just like never a Trumper which is like
understandable to be one but it's just clearly politically motivated or why
else would a five-year-old trial happen on an election year? A hundred
percent I think this is just to get Trump out of the race and no matter what
just to get Kamala to win but it's not gonna happen. To try and keep him out
of office. Mm-hmm. I don't think that's the case. I feel like I feel like there's
truth to what's going on. I feel like everybody knows that to a degree but I
feel like people are trying to ignore it because like you know he's the president
but I it's the truth. I feel like you can try to ignore it as much as you want to
it's the truth.
