Every man's life is made of highs and lows.
Sometimes we lose all hope for a better future.
Other times, however, we overcome the crisis and come out stronger than before.
In today's story, let's see if Luigi will be able to take his own life into his own hands.
Part 1. Read and listen to the story at a slow pace.
Once upon a time, in a small Italian village,
immersed in the green, there was a man named Luigi,
whom everyone knew.
Luigi was known to be the luckiest man in the village.
If there was a puddle, Luigi always ended up in it.
If there was a banana, Luigi slipped on it.
If there was a sudden rain, Luigi always forgot his umbrella
and came home frantic as a chicken.
But one day, while he was walking around the market,
Luigi found an old coin.
Hmm, maybe my luck is changing, he thought.
He decided to bring the coin to the old sage of the village,
Mr. Lombardi, to ask for advice.
Mr. Lombardi, after carefully examining the coin, said,
Luigi, this coin is not like the others, it is a lucky coin,
but remember that luck follows unpredictable paths.
Luigi, all excited, put the coin in his pocket
and went home with a light heart.
The next morning, he woke up with a strange feeling of confidence.
He decided to try his luck by buying a lottery ticket.
With great surprise, he won the first prize,
a new and shiny bicycle.
Happy as an Easter, Luigi decided to go for a ride with his bicycle.
As he pedaled, he noticed that the road was strangely smooth and without obstacles.
Finally my luck has changed, he shouted to the sky.
But just as he was shouting, a dove decided to leave him a gift on his head.
Luigi, instead of getting angry, burst into laughter.
Well, at least this time it didn't fall on my face.
Arriving at the park, Luigi saw a group of children playing soccer.
One of them asked,
Mr. Luigi, do you want to play with us?
Luigi gladly accepted and, incredibly, scored the winning goal.
Everyone acclaimed him as a hero.
That evening, Luigi came home with a smile on his face, feeling invincible.
But while he was preparing dinner, the old oven broke.
Here is my usual luck, Luigi sighed.
But just at that moment, as if by magic, the neighbor of the house, Mario,
arrived with a smoking pizza in his hands.
I made too much pizza, do you want some? he asked.
Luigi accepted with gratitude and, while eating the delicious pizza,
smiled from ear to ear.
Maybe I'm not so unlucky after all, he said to himself.
Luigi continued to live his daily adventures,
always with a smile and a pinch of luck, ready to face life as it was.
Now let's study together the words you probably don't know yet.
