Today I take you on my exploration of the lakes of Montebello and they are absolutely insane. I've seriously never seen anything like them and almost believe it's one of the most beautiful places I've seen. I also did something really fun, I crossed a border BY FOOT!
Good morning from this cabana in Lagos de Montebello, Mexico.
I stayed here last night because it rained all night and all morning and today I'm off to
explore because this area is full of many beautiful lakes. Looks like it's gonna downpour.
I am wearing my motorcycle outfit that is still wet. Perhaps they will dry today while I wear them.
Today I'm gonna go check out the other lakes but first get some food.
Alrighty, we're headed up to the mirador.
Steep step up.
Oh my god. I don't think I've ever seen anything more beautiful than this.
This is seriously one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The water is so calm
and in the corner here on the edges, I'm not sure the camera picks it up, but it's turquoise
and see-through like the Caribbean Sea. It is so beautiful and then the mountains come out here
and they sort of evergreen trees sort of. It almost has a feel of like the very north like
Canada or like Norway but we're in Mexico right at the border of Guatemala. So you can take a
raft to go out. I'm not sure whether I have time. This place is spectacular.
Okay, I've got the vest on. I'm going.
No, no se vende.
New York.
I love Chiapas.
You coming alone?
Yes. Yes, I have been. Yes, too hot.
Muy claro. There's like a bunch of fishes.
Wow.
All right, anyone who's been watching for a while might remember that I'm a chicken
when it comes to swimming but I've been trying to shift that. So now is an opportunity to swim
and I'm making myself swim. This is like so incredible.
Oh my god, it's cold but it's so freaking refreshing like butter.
This parking lot was empty before. Four buses.
Came at the perfect time. There's literally nobody there.
Now I think I will go to Laguna de Montebello.
Bike park. This next lake is called Cajol.
It's pretty. So beautiful. I'm happy I did my boat when I did because there was like nobody.
This one has an island in the middle.
Now time to eat and then a little more exploring.
Okay, you know how I'm very close to the Mexican-Guatemalan border?
Well, apparently you can walk across the border somewhere over here I think. So I'm
gonna try and find it. It's a little walk to Guatemala. Another amazing lake over here
and a dock. So there are stairs here but I think I'll ask some people.
Stairs but how do I get to them? A tunnel of chachkis. So many chachkis. Well, here we go.
This is the line.
Those buoys are the line of Mexico and Guatemala. Between Mexico and Guatemala.
How interesting is that? So beautiful. Here's a little map where we are now.
There's a cascada. Also are like pools. Little hidden pools. Go check it out.
What a beautiful museum they are in there. I really enjoy it. This is called Pozo Escondido.
I'm not as obsessed with chickens as I am.
So I'm up the hill. Looks like plenty of houses. This shop is also cool. Products of
cardamomo grown in Guatemala.
Gracias.
Well, now it just seems like we're in good old Guatemala. I have spent some time in Guatemala.
I know it doesn't look it but it's so quaint and beautiful. Well, I think that's it.
Just hopping on over. So cute. Well, it's a bit late. It's maybe about 5 30. I think I'll go
back to Mexico now. Thanks Guatemala. I'll be seeing you soon. A few more adventures in Mexico
and then on Guatemala. This is the Lago Internacional. This is the international lake.
The one that's split between Guatemala and Mexico.
Wow.
