Kylian Mbappé could win his second World Cup with France at the age of 23. Messi and Mbappé lead the Golden Boot standings with five goals each. A truly remarkable young man really. He terrorised Argentina four years ago. I wonder if he can do it the same and if he does he'll have two World Cup winners' medals by the age of 23. His birthday is coming up on Tuesday. What a present that would be Al. What a player. I'm listening to that. PSG paid £165 million for him. Sometimes the biggest strengths of a team and a player can also possibly be their weakness as well. There's been an exploitation of the space behind Mbappé which has become a theme of this World Cup. It has. A couple of games we've highlighted this but there's a big space. Theo Hernandez, killing Mbappé where he likes it. Mbappé, that's sweet. Rabiot for Martinez. The way he plays those one-twos at times, it's almost impossible to stop. The race for the Golden Boot. Messi six, Mbappé five, Alvarez and Giroud four. Mbappé away from Romero but there's Fernandez. Mbappé, Hernandez, Griezmann, Mbappé. France have yet to land a punch and France are on the canvas. Rabiot allowed to roll by Mbappé. Mbappé to Ram. They were physical, they were tight. Obviously it's a different story. It's just been blurred. Otameni got into trouble. Mbappé could make him pay. Fernandez, excellent. Same tempo and you can see they're intent on doing just that. Mbappé is going to have to get a grip on this game. Griezmann by Rabiot. Mbappé. Mbappé just can't get his motor started to pull. Caught again. Mbappé, a bit of frustration maybe. He's dropping deep to try and get hold of the ball. Mbappé around Fernandez but not the immaculate Romero. Otameni, head on the twist. Conjuring a bit now. Driving through. A couple of touches in the box. It's an effort on goal. But they blew it. Just to make their changes then. At least the staff did. The players wanted to get on with it. Hernandez plays it in. Romero clatters it. Griezmann, over the top by Mbappé. Chased by Kolo Mwani. And Kolo Mwani has got it. The corners you saw on that graphic. What will he do here? Mbappé. Superstar Rien Leiven. Rabiot. Mbappé. Superstar. On to the four. Exactly that. When it comes to him I think no, don't volley it from there. Take a touch or two. But such is the confidence of this player. Even when he's hardly had a snip. What about that for a connection? What a volley. What a moment in this World Cup final. Incredible. 97 seconds between Mbappé's penalty and his ferocious volley. The French comeback. Precious little. Long in by Mbappé. Up in the air off McAllister. Got to Ram. Ram one assumes for perceived. This match has turned on its head. And Argentina will be feeling totally deflated. Here's Mbappé. Explosive. For Argentina. Mbappé's stage. Advanced. Advanced. Upamecano advanced. In by Mbappé. It's a shock, amusement, puzzlement. Robérez. Back by Upamecano. Christian by Turan. Back by Mbappé. Flags up. Mbappé. Koeman. Chased his own ball. Penalty after 80 minutes. And then Mbappé's sensational volley to equalize. Very shortly thereafter. Tyler Reese from Messi in the dying moments. When the final totting up is done here. Ought not to be forgotten. Never looks. We got his country back in this contest. Mbappé. He is dispossessed. There's of course an additional one available to Argentina now as well. Mbappé. As well as the additional one they get. We've gone into extra time. A bit of space for Mbappé there when he tried to turn. Tied fans behind that goal. Indeed right the way around the stadium. In by Koeman. First World Cup final hat-trick since Hairston 66. We build it as the Mbappé-Messi show. And so often in... One more. France drive. Mbappé drives. In by Mbappé. Well he's a tall lad. And six goals in the final by the way. It means that these World Cup finals have produced more goals than any ever before. 172. Chiromedi. When does this end? Held up by Romero but not for long. Having a shot from a tight angle. And then thought no I'll duck in again. What a dribble. What can you say but thank you. For surely one of the greatest football matches that has ever been played. Encompassing Stella Mbappé. Failed against Jan Sommer with their final penalty. This time having twice already scored from the spot. And three times in all having scored. Mbappé steps up first. Battles it in. On his day of no error. When you hit it that hard even though the keeper guesses the right way. Paredes to take Argentina. One feels for Mbappé. Who scored a World Cup final hat-trick. And lost. No experience. We've never coached a club side. That's a huge point. That's dispelled. All of that talk about you have to have experience. You have to have had a job. You have to have been in the game a long time managing. He's come out of nowhere and just guided this team. President Macron there with Mbappé. Well he's been a hero with Mbappé. And then you start chasing the game. I'm very blessed that I'm here to be able to do that. Those guys there will be distraught. But they've played their part. Not that I'll think about that or worry about that now. But what a role the French did. This is going to be mixed emotions for Mbappé. Listen to the cheer from the fans. Huge cheer. What a World Cup he's had. He's a superstar. He has been for quite some time. But he's totally confirmed his magnificent status. For 18 minutes he was poor. If you're being honest. And then the moments come and the big players stand up and arrive. When your country or team is looking to you to do something special to get them back in the game. Not only did he do it with eight goals. Eight goals in all. The last player to score eight goals to win the Golden Boot. 2002. Certain Ronaldo. Brazilian Ronaldo of course. El Fenomeno. Is he going to go and win the World Cup for Argentina? I guess he's a Paraguayan. But he was hugging and kissing the Argentina players. Claudio Tapia is the AFA president.
