thought I would start this Vlog by
looking for my Scissors because believe
it or not and this is like not like me
at all but I have misplaced my scissors
so I have no idea where they are they
could be anywhere on the plot so I
thought I'd just have a wonderand around
see what need's doing and and see if I
can find them I actually don't remember
what I was doing the last time I Ed
scissors here did I even use scissors
here probably right my shears are over
there that's not very good right
blueberries are oh look what's happening
to the blueberry plant it's turning very
autumnal getting these beautiful red
leaves and we've got lots look at these
lots of blueberries absolutely
delicious blueberries are done so well
this year oh what's happened on my
Archway I seem to have had a bit of a
tumble setion is a little bit bare
what's going on it's all sort of
starting to die back a bit now it's very
sad actually oh look this is one of the
pumpkins that I tried to pollinate and
it's uh actually growing a pumpkin I
hope we get one out of this that would
be so amazing to actually get another
pumpkin out of this got my lovely
knobbly pumpkin growing at the top here
he's still alive no sign of the scissors
there okay we'll move on the weather has
definitely changed um in the UK so we
actually had a mini Heat Wave yesterday
and it got up to 28 degre in London it
was bright Sunshine all day beautiful
glorious amazing and then today you wake
up and it's all clouded over threatening
to rain all looking very autumnal
everywhere I mean I'm not gamest it I
love autumn but um it's just such a STK
contrast from yesterday to today you
know just feels like Autumn's just come
like that right where would I put those
bleeding scissors no had a good look
around can't find the scissors but don't
worry it's okay there's more than one
way to cut a piece of twine well what's
that saying there's more than one way to
skin a cat what is that saying why is
that why does that saying exist my dad
used to say that all the time there's
more than one way to skin a cat why
would you want to skin a cat for what
purpose right the first job of the day
first job of the day guys we are going
to tackle this very sad very neglected
looking flower bed so we've got dailies
in here and some old gladioli and weeds
and all sorts so we're just going to get
to work

right we are now on Project rescue the
daers so these daers here that have like
fallen over and flip-flopped everywhere
they need to be supported upright
deadheaded and they should in theory
they should be able to keep flowering
through to like November time I've had
daers before that have been flowering in
December before so they are perfectly
capable of continuing to flower for a
very long time over the Autumn if we
look after them that's the key if if I
don't let them just die now you know I
think what we're going to do him
up I do a tripod of sticks and then tie
some twine around I
think
there oh no SN damn it I can't get it in
the
ground I can't get it in
I go
in oh God why is this ground rock solid
what the heck bluming heck okay once
again what should be a really simple job
is turning into an absolute nightmare
sticks sticks always sticks sorry
it's
fun
[Music]
stins you're just a stupid stupid
stick stupid stick I hate you
stick not your friend anymore
stick look you SN a s SN that
[Music]
off yes thank you
stick thank you stick for setting an
example for the other
sticks I've never had this much trouble
with sticks before in my life it's like
the sticks are rebelling I don't know
why they're doing this
this Garden is not Union guys you cannot
go on
strike it's a dictator ship here it's
it's my
oh
dicks right okay that's going to have to
do for the sticky
sticks oh just broken the flipping Dan
just snapped
it oh God snatch this great big bit off
the blowing da so annoying I mean I can
take him home now and put in Nas but at
the same
time I didn't want to do that it looks
stupid I've just broken another one oh
God please don't please just stay there
please
[Music]
well I've now got a massive great big
bunch of daers to take home I mean this
is not the end of the world it's not the
end of the world and actually when you
pick dailies you are supposed to pick
them with Buds and stuff and like quite
far down and the plant so that they
survive for longer it's just that I
didn't want to take them home I wanted
to keep them on the plant and I wanted
the plant to look really beautiful in
this section I don't know why I'm
getting tearful about it but that was
just an absolute disaster what's
happened let me explain now I've calmed
down a little bit what's happened is
that the plant fell over when it was
growing and started to grow horizontally
it started to grow horizontally I've
come along weeks and weeks later and
decided no you need to go upright the
plant is just not happy and the stems
are now very very firm and very big so
when I'm pulling the plant up it's at
risk of snapping and the same with this
one as well so what I'm going to do now
is leave them stood up like this and
hope the plant kind of corrects itself
because plants do want to generally grow
up towards the Sun so fingers crossed
fingers and toes crossed uh that it will
just start to grow up now and the the
stems will kind of correct themselves
and then I'll be able to support it even
more until then we're just going to
leave it now because I'm I'm going to
keep snapping it by accident so
I'm just getting myself in a right
little pickle here you know but the the
bed as a whole is looking better on the
positive news this bed is now very much
cleared it's looking good yeah I'm happy
the only thing I could do actually is
dead head a few of the old da plants see
if they come back to
life this is why I needed scissors
really right got try and get rid of the
Dead ones
[Music]
a new butt there that's good gives him a
chance you know gives him a
chance look an old daia tuber there
there an old daia tuba there that
started to grow kept getting eaten and
now it's been dug up by a fox or
something so excellent that's that's
pretty much sums up my daers this year
apart from like a couple that have done
a little something
[Music]
is
[Music]
[Music]
oh
no oh no it's done something can you see
that it's not it's not clicking together
what do I
do oh
man did I do that did I break that how
how have I broken it do I have to push
it back together I don't understand why
my tools keep breaking I'm just using
them like a human I'm just a human using
a all if it breaks it breaks like that's
just not made for humans then is it look
doesn't go together
anymore stamp it
together a little
bit I apologize guys I am in a weird
mood today I'm feeling a little bit
emotional a little bit I'm getting very
like wound up by things that I should
not be getting wound up by and I don't
really know why to be honest I don't
really know why so um I'm going to move
on now we're going to clear this little
section over here make sure it's all
tidied up and everything um yeah we
we'll just sort we'll just work through
it oh I tell you what I can do now I can
collect these seeds so this is a sweet
pea flower plant and um these are the
seeds and you know the seeds are ready
to pick when they rattle
you can kind of hear the seeds inside
rattling about they go very Brown and
then it's got sweet pee they're ready to
pick now so we'll pick these for next
year they probably won't all work and
they won't all be good and that's what I
find when you collect your own seeds
it's not like a a seed packet where it's
been filtered and some experts looked at
it all you will get a few that don't
work so you have to pick more than you
think you need that's just the trick of
picking your own seeds that I found
pick more than you think you
need also and I'm full of advice today
full of it absolutely full to the brim
of it another good thing about
collecting your own seeds if a plant on
your allotment or your garden has done
particularly well and you collect the
seeds the chances are I've just thrown
one don't worry about it the chances are
that these seeds will prod use plants
that will also do really well in your
garden or your plot because they are
perfectly adapted to the environment in
which they lived and they were created
does that make any sense so because the
plant did well the seeds will do well
they are like perfectly in tune with
your garden so it's a really good idea
if something's done particularly well to
collect the seeds and plant it again
where did that one go we've lost it it's
gone don't worry about it just forget
about it we've got loads we got oh we've
lost another one we've lost loing them
put them down Emma put them down we're
losing them it's disaster gardening
today
[Music]
[Music]
right we've sort of done a lot of um
killing and destroying and pulling
things up and accidentally killing
things today so I thought it'd be quite
nice to end the Vlog by actually
harvesting something and proving that I
am capable of growing something and that
thing is tomatoes because they have gone
crazy you see I can see lots of red on
these now so these are cherry tomatoes
these ones here I think are Roma
tomatoes I think they're Roma they're
absolutely stunning aren't they these
ones here I have no idea but they're
sort of
yellow a yellow tomato and we've got
some more Roma tomatoes down there also
got some little luses here which I can't
believe actually survived that's amazing
so I might pick some of these as well I
might actually pick a whole lettuce and
take it home cuz I don't think they'll
survive too much longer um so we got lce
and tomatoes
lovely take some these time
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
right it is just starting to rain which
is perfect timing actually cuz I'm sort
of about finished here but this is my
little Harvest of the day we got a
little little variety of different
tomatoes and I picked one of the lettuce
a whole lettuce cuz I really just think
if I don't start doing this they'll turn
into all the flower flowering lettuce
because I'm not very good at picking
this and this looks absolutely delicious
and it's really small so I reckon it's
going to be really tasty let's see how
much of this ends up actually at home
and how much I eat on the way
home delicious right I hope you've
enjoyed the Vlog today I will be back
again on Friday have a lovely rest of
your gardening week and I will see you
then thanks for watching guys bye
