Warm and Dry Bushcraft Survival SHELTER with FIREPLACE

In a long term wilderness living or survival situation, there’s never enough time for prepping for winter. We’re starting with a solid primitive shelter. Join Fen and I as we build a bushcraft survival shelter with fireplace using cedar bark for roofing, and a clay cob mix for the fireplace. We start by collecting natural building materials from the forest, and come across some noteworthy things while we're exploring. Then we use dry cedar poles for the shelter frame and roof it with big slabs of tree bark. While collecting materials for the fireplace I nearly stepped on a western diamondback rattler and took a few minutes to relocate her. To build the fireplace, I used rock and clay to form the back wall, then mixed dry grass and clay into a cob mix. Cob will hold together much better than straight clay. I built a frame from flexible branches to support the cob while it was drying. The chimney was supported on a bundle of sticks that will burn out when everything is done. If you have clay to work with, this is a fantastic way to build a smoke free fireplace in your long term survival shelter. Now get outside and start practicing those survival skills!
