(We interrupt our series again for this latest vlog). Today we went to Quinte West with the goal of having a perfect and ideal day. We did as much as we possibly could to complete our checklist. We stuffed our faces with amazing coffee from The Grind, Wannamaker’s baked goods (maple bacon and raspberry cream-filled doughnuts, plus a gluten-free cupcake), a massive chicken bacon club with fries from Dimitri’s, a soup and a gluten-free sandwich from the Old Bank Cafe, and Korean food that was to die for from Gogi Korean Grill. We took a moment to appreciate our veterans at the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial and learned a ton about Canada’s National Air Force at the museum as well. We also spent time walking outside at the Bata Island Trail and in the flower garden at Dahlia May Flower Farm too. Couldn’t have asked for a better, more complete day here in Quinte West.
Thanks for watching! 😄
We upload a new adventure twice a week now, Mondays and Thursdays!

👩❤️👨US: We met at LaSalle Secondary School in Kingston Ontario and we’ve been together for over 8 years now. Keith comes from a bilingual military family and Devon from a Kingston family of teachers. We made it through Queen’s University together where Keith studied Mechanical Engineering and Devon, Concurrent Education and Global Development. Right now we’re travelling across Canada in a Dodge Caravan for the entire month but come January 2022 we have bigger plans in mind. Our goal is to #travel full time, become #selfemployed, and #explore the world while sharing what we’ve learned and capturing our experiences. 🌎✈️📚
Good morning!
Devon, I have a question for you.
What's in your ideal day?
My ideal day would consist of coffee, exercise, being outside, lots of good food for sure,
and learning something new.
Okay, well let's do all those things today, here in Quincy West, starting with coffee.
Hi, we're Keith and Dev.
We decided to start a YouTube channel to try and make the most of every day.
Over the last year, we have been exploring Canada, finding new adventures all across
the country.
Subscribe to follow along!
We're going to get coffee at somewhere we've actually already been before because it was
honestly the best cold brew coffee I've ever had, so today we're going to try a hot coffee
because it's fall and it's cozy, and let's go!
Excellent coffee.
If you're in the area, grind.
Go there.
I just love coffee, it just puts me in a great mood.
Something that I like, maybe Devon doesn't like as much because she's gluten free, are
baked goods.
So that's in my ideal day.
Let's go.
Smells so good.
There's bacon on this donut.
Maple bacon, one of the best sellers.
The raspberry cream is one of the favorites.
I mean, everyone has their faves.
Everything is delicious.
So maple bacon and the raspberry one at the bottom really speak to me.
He couldn't pick one, he had to get both.
I'm so excited.
They have gluten free options.
So you may or may not know this, but I was eating gluten in the last video and over Thanksgiving.
I was trying to reintroduce it.
Turns out my body did not like that.
You're like fully allergic.
Yeah.
So I'm back on the non-gluten train.
So I get a little treat.
Oh my gosh, this is a good bite.
You're eating mine?
Sorry.
That was delicious.
Holy.
This is as big as our face.
I've never had this before.
Is it good?
Yeah, it's awesome.
Like it's bacon on a donut and it works.
Here's the last one.
Raspberry cream.
Oh my gosh.
It's so good.
Holy crap.
Oh man.
Dude, this is amazing.
Donut fingers.
Welcome to this place of contemplation and tribute to the Canadian soldiers who lost
their lives in the war in Afghanistan.
The red maple leaf symbolizes Canada and the citizens of its provinces and territories
who honored these soldiers and proudly remember.
Quincy West is extremely proud of its military heritage because of the largest Air Force
base here in Trenton.
When a Canadian is killed in action overseas, the remains are brought here to CFB Trenton.
From there, they're brought to Toronto and then given to the families again.
That's why the highway between Trenton and the Don Valley Parkway is called the Highway
of Heroes.
Because Quincy West has the largest Air Force base in Canada, they also have the National
Air Force Museum.
So we're going to head over there and learn some more things.
This is the Halifax.
It was shot down in 1945 and it's the only rebuilt airplane like it in the world.
Behind me is Canada's first ever powered flying machine that was flown from Nova Scotia in
1909.
This is the first Canadian military plane and look at it, very secure, very safe.
This panel here is so that they could see where they were dropping their artillery.
Behind me was Canada's first helicopter.
This is the Link Trainer.
It's one of the early flight simulators that existed between 1930 and 1950.
They're actually restoring another plane right here right now that's going to be ready in
two years.
And the reason it's being rebuilt for 2024 is because that's the 100 year anniversary
of the Canadian National Air Force.
Let's go inside, apparently there's a lot of airplanes.
Outside?
Yeah, that's what I've heard.
I would run but I don't know if you can run in museums.
Run Devin.
Bull Band Cafe in Frankfurt, honestly super cute inside and super historic.
We're at, actually we're not on Bata Island yet, we're on a bridge to get there but we're
going to have our lunch on this cute little spot.
That was great.
We're stuffed.
We need to move our bodies.
My favorite part of the day, moving the body.
So we're going to walk around this island.
I've seen some wild animals while we've been on this walk so far.
What have we seen Devin?
We've seen a squirrel and a rabbit.
Was that a good accent?
No.
Keep going.
Keith's the accent guy.
I'm still working on it.
We made it to Dahlia's Flower Farm.
Guff.
I had a hard time saying that.
We're going to go check out some flowers and enjoy, the sun came out again so enjoy some
sunshine before the clouds come back.
Cool.
There's these greenhouses and you're like, oh nice, pretty flowers.
Then you go past the greenhouses and look at this.
It's like I'm in a movie.
It's magical because we're able to see these butterflies and these bumblebees and honeybees.
Just landed on the flowers.
And then just pollinated them.
Just having a great time.
I just love that.
And the sun came back out and yeah, I just feel very lucky to be surrounded by so much
beauty.
Another thing on the list of things I love to do in a day.
Devin, here you go.
Aww, thanks Keith.
You've been having a good day.
It's beautiful.
It's been a great day so far.
We made it to the Battawa Ski Hill.
We've been here before.
And there's an event running right now as well.
So we are going to walk up the ski hill.
We skied down this hill multiple times last winter.
How many times again?
We've done about what?
20?
I'd say 22 runs.
But yeah, so we're just going to hike up to the top, enjoy the view, and then we're going
to a fun, cool restaurant for dinner.
I think it's fun and cool.
I've actually never been.
How are you doing?
You out of breath?
I'm actually doing okay.
This is training for ski season.
So mind over matter.
Mind over matter.
It's not that big a hill.
Want to race him down here, Dev?
Oh yeah.
A little more fun when you're on skis.
And the trail is actually running.
But this is still beautiful.
Okay, the breath is now getting out of breath.
The breath is now getting out of breath.
But I do think the view is going to be beautiful at the top.
And it's all about balance, Keith.
That's why we're hiking.
You know what?
This is steeper than I thought it was.
So we made it to the top.
Donuts and fries are hard in our bodies.
Yeah.
We'll show you the view.
Next time we'll pick an apple.
Check this out.
Obviously you just saw, but this is so gorgeous.
And now there's pink over there because the sun is setting.
But we have to go because the restaurant we're going to closes at 7 and we're already late.
So...
It's also been a long day.
The fun part.
We're going to run down the hill.
Okay, I'll follow you.
Go ahead, Dev.
Wait, I'm going first?
I thought you were...
Keith, you have to go first because you're way faster.
We're going to hurt ourselves.
Actually, though, because my toes are jammed in my shoes.
You've got to bend your knees.
I didn't think I was going to stop there.
I'm really excited because we haven't had since we lived in Montreal, which was...
You're welcome.
It took forever to decide what to get.
Typical me.
Do your chopsticks.
I've been improving.
I'm going to go first for this pickled radish because the color...
I don't think you can get it because it's a bit pink because of the open sign.
But this is a bright yellow radish.
Oh, wow.
I love pickled stuff.
Holy.
That's beautiful.
Even the spoon is beautiful here.
I want this in my life way more.
The way it looks doesn't even do it justice.
It looks beautiful.
Mine is still sizzling.
Also chopsticks.
Don't touch the bowl.
Chopsticks are not my best.
Devin's not good with chopsticks.
How's the food, Debbie?
Still amazing.
Still so good.
I will work on my food vocabulary, but I can't get over this.
I love it so much.
Even though I'm still working on my chopstick game, it's going well.
I also had some of this pancake, this Korean pancake, and it was phenomenal.
As you can see, we obviously really liked our food.
What an ideal day.
I'm really smiling ear to ear right now.
This place was so kind.
Tim from Gogi.
Come to this restaurant.
Thank you so much.
It's all family run.
It just opened in...
January 2020.
Yeah, so it's very new.
It's so good.
It's in Trenton.
If you're in the area, I cannot recommend it enough.
Today has been such a beautiful day.
So did we check everything off the list?
I think we did.
Did we get coffee?
Yeah?
Learn something interesting?
We learned lots of new things.
Beautiful stuff?
Lots of beautiful stuff.
Outdoors.
Physical activity?
Yes.
And ate delicious food.
So it was a perfect day.
So thank you so much for watching and we'll see you in our next video.
Thanks for watching.
We're halfway.
Might as well turn around.
We're like three quarters.
Looks like it's like...
Ready?
No, I'm not going to be in it.
Yeah, I'm sure you are.
Okay.
It didn't go.
Why isn't it going?
It does that to me all the time.
It doesn't go.
Dev, go on without me.
Go.
See you later.
Go on without me, Dev.
No, Keith.
I won't leave you.
Grab my hand.
Dev.
You can do this.
No, I can't do it.
No, you can't.
I can't do it.
Good night.
It's actually really pretty.
