"It's going to be a tough fight with the Democrats right now, the new nominee, it's a much tighter race," Charlie Kirk, political activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, tells NTD's Tiffany Meier on the first day of the Democratic National Committee. He said the key is for Republicans to have a focused message around inflation and immigration.

This is day one of the National Democratic Convention, where we are going to speak with
Charlie Kirk, who is a Republican and is an American political activist.
Charlie, thank you so much for joining us.
Now, of course, this is a Democratic Party convention, but what is it going to take for
former President Donald Trump and his VP nominee, J.D. Vance, to win this election?
Yeah, it's going to be a tough fight.
The Democrats right now have a new nominee, and it's a much tighter race.
I think I really like our chances, but it's going to require a focused message,
talking about inflation, talking about immigration, and presenting a different
agenda to the American people than what they're going to see here in Chicago.
President Trump has built a once-in-a-generation movement
of people of all sorts of backgrounds to be able to come together and to unite,
and we're going to see that really kind of come to fruition after Labor Day.
But I'm here in Chicago trying to spread the message, spread the word, and counter every way I can.
And, Charlie, on that note, there is talk, you know,
how Kamala Harris has added fresh blood and re-energized the Democratic base.
When we look at this party, do you think she can keep up the momentum without really talking about
her plans for the economy?
I think that President Trump, poll after poll, is in a much better, stronger position when it
comes to the economy, when it comes to lower prices, when it comes to immigration, when it
comes to foreign policy. And so if we stay focused on that issue subset and we understand what this
election is about, I think we'll be successful coming into November.
People who voted for President Joe Biden in the primary, what happened to their vote?
What do you see happening within the Democratic Party?
Yeah, they were completely and totally disenfranchised. Their vote was taken away
from them. They do not have a voice. They were told that their vote basically does not matter.
And instead, Kamala Harris just kind of waltzed in and the delegates went behind her in a very
suspicious, sneaky way. It's interesting how the party of democracy decided to get away
and go away from primary elections.
Charlie Kirk, thank you so much for joining us tonight.
Thank you. Thank you.
