(Laliga 2024/2025): Highlights REAL MADRID - REAL VALLADOLID

Welcome, glorious late August afternoon in the Spanish capital, the perfect setting for Kylian Mbappé. A few goals in this stadium and there's a man who's hoping to score. To present to the supporters the European Super Cup that was won in Warsaw. Giving some balance, trying to stop every chance of a counter-attack. Mbappé on the volley and pushed away. So he decided to try the volley. Three-man wall for Haim. Valverde strikes in, it's gone in! Valverde scores, the deadlock is broken. It didn't take long. The first half was so frustrating for Real Madrid, but maybe a few choice words amount to nothing. Chance here for Vardalid. It's Messi again. Courtois palms it out to the edge of the area. Where fortunately for Real Madrid... Djuric's there, but he didn't buy that one and he's storming forward now. Vinicius is in pursuit. Still Djuric. He plays it wide. There's a chance here for the equaliser and it's blazed over by the substitute. Well, what a chance that was. Here's Vinicius. He's got Fran Garcia running ahead of him. Picks out Fran Garcia. The cross comes in and well-saved in the end by Karl-Hein. Trying to stop Real Madrid. Wow. Rodrigo takes that brilliantly into his stride. This could be the 2-0. Schumacher clears. Ivan Sanchez. Solano's also getting ready to make two extra changes. Goulain with the shot. Took a deflection. Fine save from Karl-Hein. Up against him. Vinicius says goodbye to Luis Perez. Cross comes in. Mbappe. Bright. Excellent save from Karl-Hein. Nice balls flip through for Silla. Can he finish? Silla shoots and shoots wide. Well, when you're up against... Valverde into Mbappe. This is where he wants to play. Mbappe, honing in on goal. Can he finish? He slams it wide. Slices. Long ball forward towards Brahim. He might get clear here. Brahim, the goalkeeper's out of his goal. And he's beaten and it's 2-0. And it's Brahim Diaz who gets the second goal of the game. The customary celebration from him. So all the talk before the match about the new man, but it's two of the old stages who scored. Hendrik running ahead of him. They are back in numbers via the Libert. Still Brahim with the ball at his feet. Finds Hendrik. Can he get the shot? So he can! And what a goal that is! Well, we didn't get the debut goal. But we've certainly got one from Hendrik. Coming on as a late sub in the second half. Teed up by Brahim. And he buries that past Karl-Hein. Very impressive in the end from Real Madrid, Tony. Yes, at the end, they have a lot of quality. We spoke a lot, as is normal, about the first game played at home by Kylian Mbappe. Good news for Real Madrid. So that maybe not the best game played by Bini, by Rodri, but well.
