all right listen up please listen up
before the first day of school there are
three things that I want you to follow
there are three things that I want you
to do there are three things that I want
you to understand if you want to be
successful for this year these three
things are not in any special order but
I'm telling you from being a teacher for
14 years inside the classroom from
seeing students from the beginning of
the year to the end of the year I can
tell you with which students that were
prepared on the first at school how
successful they were at the end of the
year so what do you have to do what do
you have to be what do you have to
understand the first one it's very
obvious and please do not glaze over
this because I know once I say it
immediately you're going to be like all
right what's the next one let me skip to
that but hear me out here the first one
is to set a goal now do not just write
the letter A on a piece of paper and
then move three minutes ahead on this
video no you need to set a goal and you
need to understand why is that goal
important to you you need to understand
this this is more important to the goal
you need to understand the motivation
behind why it is you want to achieve
what it is you want to achieve and then
once you have solidified you've
understand exactly what you want to
achieve and what you want to do you need
to map out how exactly you're going to
do it below that goal write down your
steps what are the things that you need
to do to achieve that goal what are
those daily weekly monthly habits that
you have to do you need to write them
down you also need to write down is what
is going to stand in your way out of my
way you know yourself by now if you're
watching this video I'm assuming you're
not eight years old you have seen
yourself have be successful you have
seen yourself be failures why did you
fail at certain things why were you not
as successful as you wanted to be in
certain elements identify what it is
about yourself what external factors
have limited you before identify them
and make sure you understand what you
can do to adjust if they show up again
for this goal we need to make sure we
have everything out in front of us and
also this goal is something that we need
to be looking at if not daily weekly we
know exactly what it is we need to be
doing what we need to be avoiding and
how we're going to do it now the next
one is a little bit more detailed and
this is where I struggled as a student I
never had a planner I just my brain
could never go down this way but I can
tell you from being somebody that now
technology has allowed me to basically
have a digital planner it's been so
helpful for me to be able to have this
guidance or to have this kind of
Direction in my life because physically
writing things down in a planner just
didn't work for me but if it works for
you then do it if you need to do digital
then do digital but here's the thing
once you have your goals and you've
written all that stuff down you
understand it you know the importance
and why you're doing things you have to
start making decisions when you start
the school year you probably know what
clubs or what activities you're going to
be doing you probably know a little bit
about your schedule and we know ladies
and gentlemen life is going to change
there are things that are going to
impact all of this so you are going to
have to adjust it is just the reality of
life however make decisions when are you
going to wake up when are you going to
study when are you going to do your
homework where are you going to be doing
your homework for how long are you going
to do 30 minutes on every Tuesday are
you going to do 30 minutes after school
are you going to set up with a private
tutor make decisions and get them in in
place because when you write things down
on a calendar or when you have them in a
calendar and you get a little
notification saying hey you have a study
appointment for an hour coming up now
you stop everything you're doing and you
follow through with that but when you
don't write things down or you don't put
them in a calendar you don't make
decisions guess what you start doing
things that are easiest for you to do
hang out with friends not do your
homework go to a movie sit on the couch
play on your phone talk to your friend
go out with your friends it's too easy
when you don't have a regimented
schedule to Veer off the path and guess
what when you start veering off the path
you start to lose sight of your goals
and then the whole year goes by and then
you look back and you open up that book
and you're like oh my God what did I
write at the beginning of the year oh
that was cute how many times have I done
that in my life way too many times
that's why I'm making this video for you
don't be an earlier version of myself
because I will tell you my most
successful and enjoyable years had been
when I had a goal that I was striving
for when I was dedicated and consistent
with my work ethic to achieve that goal
and that is when I got the most
satisfaction out of my life you can do
this exact same thing to apply it to
this school year and the last thing it's
called priming the pump ladies and
gentlemen at the end of last year at
every single year I say go and have fun
you're a kid or you're young at least
younger than myself have fun some of my
best memories I had over the summer was
with my friends was doing things that I
wouldn't normally do because it was a
school night have fun in enjoy your
childhood I still worked a job like I
still worked hard and everything else
but I had fun with my friends and I want
each and every one of you to enjoy this
time in your life when you have a break
in between schooling and I realize not
everybody has breaks between schooling
but I'm talking to a general populace
here but ladies and gentlemen it does
not discount the fact that you need to
prime the pump your brain is what's
going to be working when you get back in
school you can't give it that long of a
break without doing anything when school
starts getting closer
just do a little bit of work now
obviously I'd like as a teacher and a
parent for you to do a little bit more
work like three or four weeks ahead of
school but in reality I know everybody's
different but even if you're the laziest
kid and don't care about school but you
know you're going into a course
especially like math where you are not
excited then do yourself a favor and
prime the pump start doing some work to
get yourself mentally ready and prepared
for the school year if you don't have a
summer packet to be able to complete
then go back to last year's notes start
going back over the stuff that you
learned last year go over your test go
over your quizzes start doing some of
the problems I am telling you ladies and
gentlemen we all know the beginning of
the year is a lot of times a review from
the previous year right you don't want
to be that student that is still trying
to remember everything you want to be
that student be like oh yeah I kind of
just remember reviewing this a couple
weeks ago like I'm good here I remember
this stuff because the more times you
see something the better it's going to
sync in and guess what if you review it
two weeks ago and then you go and review
it again with your teacher you're going
to have that solid foundation and guess
what's going to happen when you start
learning the new stuff you're going to
have that solid foundation to now lean
on do some math work before the school
year but I'm telling you ladies and
gentlemen if you have that goal you have
that Vision you have it designed and
mapped out and you put in the work you
are going to have a successful year and
there's nothing more than I want is for
you to come to this video and let me
know how your year went down below in
the comments I'll wait cheers
