thank you

so this entrance gate is a part of
Whitley Court in Worcestershire England
and the original mansion burnt it is
still in Ruins and I think it's now part
of the Historic Society in the UK that
they actually purchased this gate and
brought it over to the entrance of
London Bridge
[Music]
the boundary of the city of London in
England was established in Roman times
and it's marked by these dragons at each
entry point and it's also the same here
at Lake Havasu City

now if you ever go to England and you
take a trip to Trafalgar Square in
London you'll see the Lions now these
Lions stand for diversity opportunity
courage and ambition
now obviously these London 25 boxes
weren't just in London they were all
over England
and
I remember in the day we used to pick up
the phone for a trumpet in or a 1010 fee
for your phone call
now they're just an icon
thank you
this New London Bridge started sinking
in England because it couldn't keep up
with the amount of weight of the traffic
it wasn't designed to cope with it so in
1967 it was placed on the market and
Robert P McCulloch founder of Lake
Havasu bought it for two million four
hundred and sixty thousand dollars it
was dismantled Brick by Brick and
shipped through the Panama Canal
to Long Beach California and then
trucked here and reassembled the total
cost was 5.1 million

these lamp posts are made of the iron
which was melted down from Napoleon
bonapartes cannons
[Music]
thank you
did you know that this bridge isn't
fixed it actually floats and that's to
help just in case there's an earthquake
when these Stones were moved in the 60s
80 human skeletons were found bricked up
in the pillars
London Bridge has a thousand foot span
and even survived World War II's London
Blitz
unfortunately it started sinking which
is why it was sold
in fact two American first Infantry
Division servicemen
carve their names into one of the old
Stones back in 1942 and we have found
the graffiti
from the soldiers
look at that now that is pretty neat
[Music]
so in October in 1971 when they had the
opening of the London Bridge debut
there was hot air balloons fireworks
marching bands and there was a banquet
of lobster and roast beef which was
exactly the same banquet that was given
to King William IV
on the original opening of London Bridge
oh wow I bet the beefeaters enjoyed
eating the roast beef
it's one of those things you look at the
old photos the original when it had like
the the structures that was the old
London Bridge which is what I was going
to say if he'd let me finish
this one was built in its place just
next door to it down down river from it
but just even the fact the history of
you know this wasn't England
just like this across River Thames and
now it's here across the Colorado and
Lake Havasu it's pretty it's pretty cool
I mean it's
a little bit of English History and
Nostalgia absolutely now the old London
Bridge the one that you were referring
to that had all of those buildings on
top yes that lasted 600 years and
unfortunately that did actually start
sinking slightly and that's where the
nursery rhyme came from London Bridge is
Falling Down
and another thing I was gonna say but
you should get away from me you are so
facetious
but there was also a saying or there was
also a story that that old London Bridge
had a fire at each end and over 3 000
people died in that fire oh that old
London Bridge
started sinking they actually took all
of those buildings away all the shops
all the apartments
to try and stop it and it still didn't
work which is why this one was replaced
this one replaced it yeah this one
replaced that one yeah and a lot of
people get mistaken and they think the
London Bridge is the one with the big
towers that's actually the Tower of
London which we've been to yep I've
taken you there
was a great experience we even saw the
beefeaters we did
[Music]
but they also would guard the prisoners
of the Tower of London as well as the
crown jewels in Tudor times and you know
what they still do today guarding the
crack the crown jewels yep and we even
got to see the crown rules we even got
to see the crown jewels that was a an
incredible trip let's see what else we
can see
London Bridge was built in 1831 and
replaced the old London Bridge that had
been up for 600 years and it spanned the
River Thames the old London Bridge the
one that was 600 years replaced a wooden
bridge now back in the day what they
used to do any traitor they would behead
them off with his head and put their
heads on spikes along the bridge and
this was to discourage other people to
be a traitor to the crown
thank you

Lake Havasu has over 400 miles of
Shoreline and has 28 scaled down
Lighthouse replicas and they're all
fully functional which makes Lake Havasu
City home to more lighthouses than any
other city in the whole of the USA
